So true! In the last few years I had real problems to enjoy Christmas, but last Christmas I bought myself an old 2002 Harry Potter Set (Chamber of Secrets) and not only was I excited again but also felt the same magic again that I felt when putting together the 2001 Hogwarts Castle as a kid. Lego really helps me reliving my childhood memorie and, in some way, make new ones.

I am 57 yrs old and got my first set, LEGO Police car set 611 in 1973. When my favorite toy and my favorite movie joined, I was all in. Now my collection is out of control with Star Wars (almost all of them since the beginning), Iron Man, Bat Mobiles, NASA, the bigger cars, and the Botanicals. Building a new set is my Happy Place. My granddaughter knows the difference between Papa's LEGOs and her LEGOs. She helps me build a ship and we fly it around the house then put it on a shelf, then we build her princess castle or Spiderman set and fight the villains.

This hit on another level, I remember being a kid and always wanting to be a master builder, then teenage years and adulthood hit and I pushed all of that aside. Went to Legoland after 12 years with my mom for this past Mothers Day and wow, that little version of me was screaming. Definitely going to invest more into Lego, whether it just be a hobby or heck, starting a YT myself which you have inspired me to consider. Thanks Harri, keep building and inspiring this generation and others to reconnect with their inner child and to not the let the world and people's judgement take it away!

Honestly I never really enjoyed “playing” with Lego as a kid in the traditional sense. As a teen fan of Lego I enjoy making my own creations, stopmotions and even photography, as these options are and were so much more interesting options to me! And I must admit, I also struggle to admit to people that I still enjoy Lego!

I don't really "play" with Lego. What I love are the sets made purely for display. Something that lets me show off my love for Lego. My apartment is littered with Star Wars UCS, and my desk at work is decorated with Helmet series items.

Sorry for making this sad right out of the gate, but it really ties into my reason. I’m 45, and 7 years ago my wife died. I picked Lego back up as a way to distract myself and, yes, to reconnect with my inner kid. But what I want to tell those who read this, is more important. It led to me giving exactly zero….let’s say ‘hoots’ about what other people think about me and my hobbies. Yes, you’ll meet people who think it’s infantile. But what my wife taught me is that life is literally too short to spend even a second worrying about that. Please do what makes you happy and excuse yourself from the fake obligation of justifying it to others.

1 I love the universes they depict (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Christmas collections) 2 They are often colorful and beautiful (floral collections and the medieval forge, for example) 3 Assembling them is a meditative, submersive, thoughtful and relaxing activity 4 I've always had a collector's itch for things I enjoy 5 Their little faces are happy and make you feel good 😂😊 I don't give a **** about what other people think. When you see how messed up the world is, how corrupt, how violent, how petty and jealous, how mixed-up, how many people are willing to vote a dictator into power, how many people believe in invisible gods and other such nonsense... you have to wonder why you would care about what these people think.

Every couple of weeks I'll come up with a fun modification to my sets on display and really enjoy making them my own and doing fun stuff. My atat has Luke with blue milk climbing up, my Moff Gideon cruiser has a few tie fighters flying over top along with an imperial shuttle I got in a poly bag. I got a marvel playset a while ago that's Spider-Man and Doctor Strange fighting a big spider in the sanctum, but now it's a whole team of superheroes I got from the blind box Marvel figs. So yeah I play by making displays dynamic and fun.

Well, as a kid everything is new to you so the entire concept of Lego is that much more fascinating. Play also serves a purpose for kids, which you lose when you grow up. So that part will probably never come back. I sometimes compare it to watching movies. As a kid everything is new and exciting. As an adult you've been there, done that. That's why I don't play with my Lego sets, but I do still enjoy creativity a lot and I do like to build and display some Lego sets. And it does have that nostalgia factor. Recently we finally got those Jurassic Park sets, almost 3 decades late. I think it's just a form of 'escaping', like some people prefer to read books. When it comes to Lego I do enjoy photographing it and making stop motion videos (although I hardly have the time for that). There's still plenty to enjoy as an adult! Lego also strikes a great balance when it comes to flexibility vs rigidity of the medium.

People should be able to enjoy themselves with whichever hobby they prefer without fear of being judged by others. After all, other people's judgment is just that... A thing in other people's minds. So just let it stay there. I know, there will always be a fear of not fitting in, but if you stay true to yourself, I promise you will get the most out of life. I'm 44 years old and have tried all my life to not let me be guided by other people's expectations. The result is that I'm happy. And I'm also very happy with the feelings of nostalgia and escapism that LEGO can bring me. All the best to all of you.

Excellent video. Lego provides me creativity in the same way writing painting drawing kendo or many other creative arts provide great quality to my life. Lego the company has done well to reach customers and I hope they continue to respond to us with exciting builds. As for collecting Lego my issue is with cost which is why I am very pleased when Lego gives us hints about retiring sets. I can save for UCS set and reward myself. But the second issue I have with Lego collecting is space. I really enjoy scenes in Lego but as an adult with my bricks I can let go of bricks I no longer use and spread the joy of Lego building just as I have done with good books I’ve read but no longer have the need to keep on a shelf.

I am a 22 year old man, I turn 23 this year as well. My reason for loving LEGO so much is because I get to play with them and create my own stories. I would even write down how I would want the story to go, and it makes me really happy. When I have a short amount of time to play with my LEGO I just pull out a few minifigs and just play for a bit, but whenever I have a lot of time, I pull out some sets and just go crazy and create a elaborate story with lore lol. As someone who has come to terms with loving certain hobbies and enjoying whatever I do without carrying who judges me, it can get a a little exhausting hearing the same things repeated such as "arent you too old to play with toys?" or "That's really weird as an adult" etc... I just try to move on but sometimes it does get to me. Yes I have a job and I go to college full time and I have many bills like everyone else does, but I feel that people ignore that part of me and just see the me playing with LEGO and it makes people go away from me. It has happened quiet often where I would meet new people and I would mention how I love LEGO, and they automatically just think its weird, but when I get home from those terrible outings I pull out my LEGO and I start playing with them and it really just boost my mood because even though many people will leave me I just know that my LEGOs will always be there for me.

I like having something to do that doesn't involve a screen for a change. It lets me do something else with my hands rather than hold a controller or use a keyboard. Of course there are other hobbies that allow this, I've always liked Tabletop battle games like Warhammer but being dyspraxic I find precise fine motor skills like gluing and painting a small (and expensive) plastic figure very difficult. I know whatever I finish with will not even look as half as good as what is on the box art. Lego on the other hand is simple with great instructions and it is always going to look great when you finish. There is no price for a mistake as everything can be dissasembled and reassembled. Once I'm done I like messing about and taking pictures. With the Lego castle I besieged it with all the pink frogs I got from the alternate build of the bonsai tree and had the knights fighting them off from the battlements. I used the all pink minifig from the Everyone is Awesome set as the leader of the pink frog horde. Currently thinking of what they can battle next...

The recent Dune ornithopter is a set that's specifically designed as a playset for adults. It is too heavy and too big to be comfortably held by most children, but the size of the tail, the intended handle, is strangely ergonomically perfect for adult hand, and it places most control mechanisms within reach. I love playing with mine, picking it up, flapping the wings a bit, it's a great stress reliever.

When I was a kid I would swoosh things I'd built but only for a minute, then it was on to redesigning and "improving" the model with some features of my own devising. As someone who has more than 5 decades riding this rock through space, allow me to encourage EVERYONE to embrace that attitude that every kid has about their favorite dinosaur and give zero f#cks about what someone else might think. If you LOVE something that's "for kids" and it truly brings you contentment, don't apologize for your love of it. It's hard enough to find happiness in this world. Don't let others' judgment put you in a box you don't want to be in.

2 reasons i like this hobby. I can finally buy all the shit I wanted when I was a kid, that my parents wouldn't buy me. I don't have a girlfriend/wife/family and pretty much no responsibilities. So why the hell shouldn't I do with my money, whatever I want? People have other expensive hobbies that others couldn't care less about. Cars, baseball card collections, guitar collections whatever the fuck. Live and leave be

I smile when i hear people talk about the age requirement of Lego based on the opinion of others . I am 65 years old and got into Lego for the first time in my life a few years ago with the UCS Falcon . I suffer from severe anxiety and Lego has literally saved my life and if society doesnt approve then society can go to hell . lol

I’m 60 years old and love building with Lego. My in laws think I’m turning back into a child. Oh well I’m going to have my fun. I’ve had the same job for 40 years it’s time to start enjoying life again.

It gives me child-like joy to build LEGO sets, and I might fly around with the spaceships or pose my Bionicles in a cool way, but play-features are not really my thing as an adult. My favourite set at the moment is the micro-scale Architecture-style Hogwarts castle, which has no play features at all, it was just a load of fun to build and is amazing to look at.

As a 14 year old lego fan I can get this. My parents think I'm silly that I still like legos and spend lots of money on them. (Example: I recently bought the lego ghost) I'll never age out of Lego and whatever they think won't make me stop liking Lego.

I’m 20, the most fun thing I do is set up old scenes from movies and shows like the Clone Wars then admiring the scene for awhile. I also like them on my display shelves. The quality in Lego has bothered me with a few false advertising errors and low quality mini figs. The UCS Captain Rex from the Venator is exceptionally bad, no one can lie. And stop saying that the new helmet holes are ok. They are out of place, they make the rangefinders look horrible, and the helmets are misshapen with them. If anything, change the visor molds and binocular molds so you aren’t ruining the look of the whole figure. And No, printed waist capes and printed pauldrons don’t look good.

I work in IT, everybody around me is nerdy in one way or another. At least three of us tho are into Lego, me included. Nobody cares, everyone has fun with whatever hobby they have. Is there really a difference between being a Lego hobbiest then building diecast models, collecting coins, or other things? In the big picture, no.

I had a short dark age as a late teen (sold my lego) and early twenties (studies). At age 22 I started collecting and playing Pokémon TCG. Met my pokémon-loving now-wife, and she loved collecting and playing with My Little Pony. And loved Nintendo and introduced me to Mario, Zelda, Kirby etc. I picked up Lego in 2022 and bought everything Star Wars and Classic Space. Then onto the modulars and “adult” sets. My wife enjoys (building) lego as well, as do my children. Nobody is above swooshing a space ship. Why would you (need to) lose the ability to play? Most of my friends are into boardgames or Lego. They’re not judgemental at all about playing. My family (parents, siblings) kinda are. They’ve asked me hundreds of times “why don’t you sell -insert collection-“, because that’s what they would do, since they don’t understand. I always avoid talking about it, sunce it’s always a “waste of money”. In the living room, I just have a bunch of modular building and spme adults sets. When people come over and ask, I just tell them I love Lego, and they’re like “oh that’s cool”. Lego was a toy for children before the mid ‘80s, then expanded to teens (with expert sets and technic), then had a dark age in the late 90s (junior sets, bad themes), then started making sets for both children, teens ánd adult nerds from the early ‘00s (Star Wars, large sets, architecture etc) and now, early ‘20s, they’re expanding to “normal” adults. With sets like the typewriter, art sets, and especially the botanicals. Just yesterday, at the mall, I saw advertsing for a Lego flowers set, aimed at adults (give flowers you can build together). This would’ve been absurd decades ago. Lego is becoming a sonewhat normal hobby for adults.

I’m 49 and I like that it takes me away from my phone. It is engaging enough to focus me but not too intense that I get burned out. The sets are so fun to see coming together. I played with Lego as a kid too and I still have the same excitement for getting a new set as I did then. I don’t think you have to stop doing everything as an adult, there are certainly worse things you can do with your time.

Why dont people just stop worrying about what someone else thinks about your hobbies? As long as it doesn’t harm anyone, it’s really not relevant what someone else thinks.

ADHD here: They help me Zen. Bright colors, tactile activity, and instructions that allow me to shut off my brain. I love the building process and seeing shadow form, and techniques used to make some really odd shapes. I love putting together an amorphous blob of bricks and then finally realizing what it's becoming. Knowing what the end product is going to be; knowing what my efforts are going towards reduces anxiety and registers in my as an achievable goal. And I love knowing that when it's finished, I touched and placed every single brick, giving me an odd, enhanced sense of ownership. I love planning on how and where I'll display them. I love that every time I look at them, each one gives me its own unique boost of dopamine. I love when someone is over and is really taken aback by what they're seeing, that it's Lego, and the wonder on their face. I love being a man in his 40's and openly talking about Lego as a hobby, people giving me the side-eye about it, I show them, and they almost immediately one-eighty and understand why people dig them so much (many will also see something and say that they'd like to have one). I love that a small, but well thought-out Lego set makes an amazing and impactful gift to an adult that doesn't do Lego. (Try it some time. Get a small set, under $30 is a good price, that's meaningful to the person in some way, and just watch what happens. ❤ ) Now, why do I buy the ones I buy? They make me happy. And, for me, it doesn't matter why. 😊

Funny how the people who diss us for having a real hobby are the ones who live their lives on tiktok and other social media that is nothing but sad. Then they tell us off when we actually have fun with what we do and it bothers them that they canr get the same satisfaction from what they do. But also, we dont grow up we just grow old.

I just turned 30 and love LEGO. If you have a hobby that doesn't hurt anyone and brings you joy - then there is no need to ever feel embarrassed about that. After about 25 I learned that if someone takes issue with your hobby, then that is their problem, not yours, and I just won't want to spend time with them. That said, the best way to enjoy LEGO is with my toddler. Even after I put together the UCS Razor Crest she said "wow daddy i love it! Can we play with the spaceship?". Of course we can

“Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.” ― C.S. Lewis

100% agree. It's so sad to see more and more Lego sets being marketed and intended as "display pieces", something that, once built, is supposed to be put on a shelf and that's it. Heck, even their name is an abbreviation of "play well" in Danish. Now it's just "build well" for too many sets.
