It's not that "dark is not necessarily evil", it's that "evil isn't necessarily rude, insane, destructive or stupid". Evil is always shown as one of those things, from kid movies to fantasy/sci-fi to cop/court shows. We don't see civilized evil, respectful evil, polite evil, or intelligent/thoughtful evil except in rare cases. Evil is presented just to be punished, never taken seriously, which completely avoids _actual_ evil.
She's not evil, she's an Addams. Take their fondness for scary out of the picture and she's pretty much an average ordinary person who's nice to those that deserve it.
The Addams family is rich enough to have a city of their own but Wednesday still chose to become a functioning member of the society. Wednesday is a good role model.
@@snakelemon The person who would need the money can go and apply for his/her desired job. Wednesday applied for hers and got it because of her qualifications.
With all the attention to the Netflix version, I want to recognize Melissa Hunter, creator and star of Adult Wednesday Adams, as the best version of the older Wednesday. She was treated awfully when her series was shut down. Where ever you are out there Melissa, I raise a toast to you!
Same here " they did her wrong . Instead of finding some middle ground. They decided to crush out this insightful take on Wednesday Addams. I wonder how far this actress could have went exploring the character even more. Wednesday works best because it is a short 3 to 10-minute show. The writing is so strong and straight to the point. It leaves no room for anything to drag on. These two seasons still feel fresh and not dated.
I love Wednesday Addams. Whenever I watched the Addams family I got the sense that Gomez and Morticia weren't totally aware of how uncomfortable they make people. But Wednesday, I think she's 100% aware of that and uses it to her advantage.
This is the best one IMO. Wednesday has enemies to deal with, and she handles them like a boss, same way she did at the summer camp with the little blonde-haired rich girl in the movie.
Gomez and Morticia would be proud to see the exploits of their little girl all grown up. Seriously, this young actress is a wonder. Extremely talented and creative. It's a shame the Charles Addams family put a stop to these wonderfully creative and imaginative shorts about Adult Wednesday Addams. Great talent this young woman.
What really upsets me about this is they've just been letting their Addams Family Intellectual Property just ROT. Not only that, but this should be covered under Parody Protection. I mean FUCK, they could have sponsored her the quality is so well done. Yet all they do is release NOTHING with Addams Family. No new Cartoon. No Live Action TV Show. No Movies. It really makes me sad, considering how AMAZING the Addams Family Are. Plus they are STILL relevant as even the B&W version are Freaks by today's Standards!! Not to mention that Addams Family Value Movie was one of the few Sequels that was BETTER than the Original!
Jessica Trautman, I've heard that there's a new animated movie in the works, and the voice cast looks pretty solid (Morticia= Charlize Theron, Granny= Bette Midler, Pugsley= Finn Wolfhard, and Wednesday= Chloe Grace Moretz).
The guys learned a while back , that wed, got it covered . Respect goes a very long way . Plus nobody crosse's the Addams . Key the "music" plus she is cool.
Well the Addams were never evil at all, in fact their core principles is to be kind, good and respectful, just like the Munsters. The thing that ties those two shows is that no matter how weird you are, it is ok to be different but to be good, kind, empathic and overall compassionate. Wednesday just gives back to those that are bad in unorthodox way as the Addams are.
Wednesday really wasn’t lying when she said that she didn’t throw that bucket of blood. She had one of the interns do it for her. 3:29. She also put in a good word for them. Shows that darkness doesn’t always mean evil.
@@lowkeylokii4205 I am most pleased with my comment, but I won’t be pleased with you being a curmudgeon. Also, not all people might have gotten the tiny detail so who are you to speak for them?
Look up Melissa Hunter's update on Wednesday Adam's if you haven't yet. She got a cease and desist from the people who own the property. She said the porn parody of this series has higher copyright protections than hers does.
Greedy people wanted to get all the cake, now we got that awful ridiculous Netflix Wednesday series with Jenna Ortega, don’t get me wrong Jenna is an amazing actress but she lacks the personality that seems to comes naturally to Melissa Hunter playing Wednesday and fits the character so much it’s on point.
The look on Mackenzie's face when she said, "this is't over..." Is the most sincere expression I've ever seen. As the reality set in that it was indeed over.
@@jameskrell4392 And after these last two dreadful animations, they should have BEGGED her to continue to keep value of the brand. Ms.. Hunter is so damned talented. She "gets" it.
@@OldGeezer55 thanks i was gonna mention that. melissa has had success as a writer/head writer and a little acting here and there. she's very talented.
I think the blood scene is a reference to Carrie. This used to be on Melissa Hunter's channel, no? And got pulled for copyright? Good to see it's back up.
+Helium Road These do belong to Melissa Hunter and I can't wait until she can get the image thing straightened out so she can get back to making them :) Personally, I think the people who had her cease and desist made a huge mistake. Melissa is keeping the character alive.
Melissa Hunter originally created 2 seasons of AWA, but was forced to take them down due to legal issues. We can only hope that someday (if / when the legalities are worked out) this will become a real show. BTW, Melissa was a finalist in the NBC Playground contest in which 8 writers were selected to produce a pilot episode for a possible TV venture; unfortunately Wolfgirl, her project, didn't get top prize.
@@DavidLinn I guess some stupid people use food flavoured e-liquid as a dieting method. I guess it's the gen z version of the cigarette diet. Do not recommend as it's essentially anorexia.
@@Fireglo i tried that to get cheesecake that was zero calorie and fat free. mind you, i wasn't using a vape to eat, i only used it to get cheesecake flavor without the calories. it didn't work. the cheesecake didn't taste like cheesecake.
Wow I've never imagined an updated Wednesday Addams as an adult and in our today's time. Credits to the woman who brought Wednesday to life once again for all of us, to the cast and the rest of the crew that made it possible!!!❤️❤️❤️
This is the Wednesday I like best: well produced, smartly written, and performed extremely well. This RU-vid series should have been a long lived thing, but I get the whole IP nonsense and all. Thanks again for the upload. 👍🏾
I really liked these videos that Melissa created. She really did Wednesday justice in her portrayal as an adult coping the strange and crazy realities of our time. However the copywrite holders of the Addams Family did not appreciate her sincere homage to the Addams family story and shut her down. Gomez and Morticia would be disappointed by the copywrite holder's action against Melissa Hunter's version of Wednesday.
"Don't forget to return the key!...They always forget to return the key..." LOL Also Anna Akana makes for a surprising great mega bitch. She's so nice on her RU-vid channel.
@@sfer1 Wednesday is not a coward; she's calculating. She handled the situation accordingly with taking into consideration the pros and cons. Sometimes brains win over brawn.
@@noelrobertson4968 But if she were to fight, she'd make it quick and brutal like maybe a rabbit punch to the larynx to turn it to mush and some cut to the arteries in the neck. Fight over in two or three seconds. I do not think that she plays around once a decision has been made.
the way this wednesday puts people in their place without losing her temper reminds me of my mom,she has the light skin and jet black hair and everything😅
So the original creator (girl who created this adult Wednesday) really got screwed. She SHOULD have been given a shot, a TV show... or something. The views don't lie and for them to say it's copyrighted and pull it... is just plain STUPID - on the part of the copyright holder of the Addams Family franchise !!! Who agrees??? (Side note: I would LOVE to see an Adult Wednesday Addams with Christina Ricci ) Please make this happen Hollywood!
Movie Man Fan This series was pulled out like three years ago. Mellissa Hunter; the girl who plays Wednesday and created it now works writing scripts for the Santa Clarita Diet show.
@@jeffbrehove2614 Copyright infringement. Mel lisa said she recieved a call from someone representing Addams Estate; that told her that, and that she had to eliminate the videos from her channel on youtube
I just discovered these today and now I am marathoning them. This is by far the best so far. It really feels like they have found their footing. They have a strong handle on their character and the story they are going to tell with her. It is brilliantly acted out. You root for Wednesday. She is the hero of the story but at the same time still dark and serious. It is a tough tight rope to walk and it is done perfectly here.
I just watched the teaser trailer for the new Wednesday Netflix show. And I really hope you and your team are on the project in some form or manner. Ever since you posted up your videos a couple years back I revisit them at least once a year. And the trailer instantly reminded me of your work. Thank you. 💐🌹
Oh, Melissa. If only YOU had an Netflix series. Seriously enjoyed this more than the Tim Burton show. How does Tim Burton manages to screw up the Addams? Burton/Addams is the most perfect combination to ever exist, or so I've thought. I know you'll never read this, but thank you so much for the amazing series. Better than the Netflix one ❤
Haha love how the model in yellow asks for a drag from the e-cig cuz "she's starving" and in the next scene she's staring desperately at it while trying to inhale as much through her nose as possible. Never felt so bad for a side character before!
This is BRILLIANT!!! Charles Addams would love this as much as I!!! I have no words to adequately describe how GENIUS these excellently produced and written videos are! Congratulations!!
_Netflix should hire Ms. Melissa, I think she's good at playing as Wednesday Addams... she just revive that Christina Ricci's style of Wednesday Addams aka being the queen of shadiness_
Very good clip. Wednesday is telling the cold truth here. :) And the scene with the blood might be a direct reference to an original caricature by Charles Addams, where there Addams Family is pouring oil on some singers in front of their door.
04279 Yes, the movie based on the King novel, where Carrie gets pig blood poured on her by bullies at the prom, and then proceeds to unleash hell, death and destruction.
Helium Road OK, I never saw the movie, but I read this scene is featured in the book. Just when I see an Addams character I think more of the 1960s-show and the original cartoons.
I really enjoyed this and loved her role in both movies. I think her forcing a smile at Summer camp was one of the best performances I have ever seen. Xtremely well done.
