@@noruanedaileg8748 I think it's underrated compared to Disney films of the same time period. And it was one of the last films Bluth did that wasn't considered a flop. Considering his early films (Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, and The Land Before Time) were all considered huge hits and then he had series of fails afterwards, I think Anastasia gots largely ignored. It's popular, but not Disney popular.

As a russian I ABSOLUTELY adore this movie. It’s so beautiful, but also has that inexplicable sadness, even if one doesn’t know the real story of the Romanov family. Almost every time i listen to “Once Upon a December” I tear up, Anastasia and her family didn’t deserve what happened to them💔

@Bunny Moon you're absolutely right. In my opinion, Lenin's actions during the revolution, especially ordering the Romanovs' assassinations, highlight the flaws of communism and marxist ideologies in general. Even though they promote equal outcome for everyone, the Romanovs received anything but an outcome equal to their citizens. This might sound extreme, but I really hope Lenin and his posse burn in hell for what they did and the several decades of oppression that resulted from their actions.

people talk about how "disney is finally giving us girl power!" like Anastasia didn't beat up the bad guy while her prince was unconscious decades before that, Anastasia is a legend wbk p.s. in russian version she says "and this one is for me" instead of "this is for you" and i think it's better phrase because she avenged HERSELF as well.

"She should have grabbed that fourth ticket he threw away, then this whole story wouldn't have happened." The fourth ticket was a ticket to the Russian Circus (they did a close-up on it to show it when Vlad pulled them out of his pocket). So the fourth ticket wouldn't have helped her. 😂

There are so many little detail that made this movie so much more! The Russian Circus ticket is one of them. Like when I'm an adult and can read well, I'm so confused why it said Russian Circus. But yeah basically Dimitri and Vlad just con her cuz they didn't have actual ticket at the time LOL. Some of little detail that I notice: - Anya wasn't thrown away from orphanage. She got a job in fish factory, the two sign said "St. Petersburg" and "Fish Village". So yeah, Anya basically gambles with her own lives and makes her own path with only dream as her basis - In song "Learn To Do It" while Anya and Vlad could ride the horse gracefully, Dimitri can't and fall because he is the only one who isn't royalty

30:20 Those two tiaras were actual russian tiaras. Anastasia wears a kokoshnik tiara which belonged to empress Marie. Queen Alexandra of Great Britain liked that tiara so women from comittee "Ladies of society" ordered one for her from the Garrard crown jeweler. That tiara is still in the family, worn now by her great grandaughter, Queen Elizabeth II. Empress Marie's tiara was lost after the revolution. The tiara that empress Marie wears in the movie actually belonged to grand duchess Maria Pavlovna, main rival of empress Marie. It was called Vladimir tiara. After her death in 1920, her children sold the tiara to british Queen Mary and it also belongs to Queen Elizabeth II now. It was originally worn with emeralds, but it can also be worn with pearls or without anything (like in the movie).

The scene where she finally sees her grandmother again was very well done. It had so much emotion in it. I also love that in all of Don Bluths movies basically all the main characters look the same. Anastasia, Thumbelina, the pebble and the penguin and an American tail were my favorite Don Bluth movies. Of course I loved all of The Land before Time movies too.

Happy Birthday! Wow I never watched this movie but now it's one of my favorites. I got so hyped that I searched up if this was based on a true story. And it was. I looked for hours. This movie had some right things (historically) but most things were wrong. (not as a bad thing) Like Anastasia did not survive, she passed away with her family. Buuuuuuuuut her grandmother was alive and was waiting for her just like in the movie! Again Happy Birthday and best of luck!!!!!! (Edit) Hmmm Rasputin also was not alive when Anastasia passed away. I just searched that Rasputin had a son named Dimitri like WHAT! Overall one of the best movies and thank you for sharing it!
