This Asahi Pentax 6x7 had some problem with a very thigh advance, I think it was the advance handle roll to the right side , but it was the left side bearing for the film roll in the camera that need some lubricate that is SUPER-LUBE oil with PTFE, now it work's much better.

I thank you for sharing as there are very few repair vids for this camera. Better than nothing and wish you would make more on this model.

Fixed my shutter winding problem. I had been dry firing it by holding the frame counter forward and closing the back. It felt as though something had broken. I put a new lr44 battery in it took off the lens and metering prism. The I put it all back together and put a film in it . Winds on and everything is working perfectly now. I have a 6x7 and a 67 both in mint condition. I have a newer rubber grip 55mm F4 and an older 75mm 4.5. Both are sharp. The 75 exceptionally so. Although it has to be used with a lens shade The 55mm can be shot into the light with no hood. Good contrast and no flare. No more dry firing for me.

Hi, I've got an old 55mm lens for this camera with a fungus right in the middle of the lens. Do you know how i can open the front part? Thanks a lot for your videos, I could clean the oily blades of my Mamiya 645 80mm. Thanks a lot for sharing all this information/education. Have a good year!!

Hello. I have a pentax 67 that I haven't used in years. I decided to start experimenting with it again. it was stored with the battery removed. i got a new battery, the battery checked good, and the light meter in the ttl viewfinder worked. i went out to try to shoot the remaining film that was in the camera (was in there for years) and the battery was dead. i put another new battery still nothing. i also encountered the problem of the film winder lever will not turn, it only advances about an eighth of the way along its path, and the shutter release will not fire.

Hello.i am using the pentax 67 with the 75mm f4.5 lens and when turning the focus ring until the infinity sign and aiming to a very far object i need to turn the ring a little bit back to get the focus right.is this called 'focus past infinity'? And what could be the problem causing it? Please help me if you can..thank you.

Can you explain what is happening on the right side of camera? Because my cameras advance lever slips whenever I try to load a roll, but I’m sure my camera works fine because when I trick the camera into thinking it has a roll it shoots perfectly fine.

Hello! I did it as you show with my Pentax 6x7 MLU and it did not work. Do you know why could this be happening ?

This is the exact problem I have! Where did you get the lubricant ? And how careful show you be putting it when you take of the shutter speed dial. I couldn't see clearly exactly where you put the lubricant there Thank you so much
@mikeno62
@mikeno62 7 лет назад
Just set a mark before you take off the shutter speed dial, so you know where it sit correct. Then you should lube where the axel go through the film chamber and on both side, I lube with "Super Lube".

thank you for sharing this, i know its an old video, but I hope you can answer 1 question. I see that most of the lubricating is done underneath, at the spool end. is it absolutely necessary to open up the top to also lunricate there? i notice most of the lubricating occurred in the area that required no dismantling. from what I could tell the only thing that was done on the dismantled part, was some lubrication to the top of the spool on the inside. did I miss anything, or is that the only thing done there? I am hoping to avoid dismantling and give the area som needed lubrication.

It's a 1,2mm flat head screw driver.

Hi Mike! I don't have this exact problem but thought maybe you could help me. In a lot cases in which I used my Pentax 6x7 there were a lot, or sometimes one or two frames that were left completely unexposed. As long as it were 1 or 2 frames I though the problem was due to bad lighting, that it was my own fault. Upon developing another roll this very afternoon I noticed only 1 photo was exposed while I am very sure that all photos were taken with the same shutter speed, the same lighting conditions, same aperture, in the space of an hour. The chances of not properly exposing my photos were slim in that case. Thus my question; do you have any experience with the Pentax 6x7 models having a "frame skipping" problem? If so, have you ever found a solution? If not, any idea what the problem could be? I have tried replacing the batteries and cleaning the contact points of the shutter speeds but none of these seem to solve my problem. Thanks in advance!

i have a similar issue i have narrowed it down to any shutter speed higher than 125 the curtains don't expose the shot properly they either follow to close together letting only a little light or they move together and not exposing at all. I've read about using a new battery but no fix anything under 125 works perfect.

burnalexburn I tried a new Lithium battery since I read Alkaline wouldn't work too well with the 6x7 but I ended up still having the same problem. There's not too much information about this on the internet but I found a thread on pentaxforums.com where they said it could have something to do with the condensators that are deranged after many years. They adviced to send it off to a professional so that's what I did and upon bringing the camera to the guy he said he had an idea of what it could be. So let's hope it's fixable in the end! Don't know where you're from but if you live in Europe you might try Wil van Manen as well :) I should have the camera back in a month so I'll try to remember to let you know what it was

mine does not advance the film properly, so exposures overlapping, how could I fix that?
@mikeno62
@mikeno62 7 лет назад
Make sure the film roll 120 - 220 is set correct, but it could also be the advance mechanism that is a bit worn out (it happen sometimes).
@ValentinoLuggen
@ValentinoLuggen 7 лет назад
yes could be that I forced it once when it was already advanced and broke it

I have a similar problem. The camera only generates 9 frames in 120, since the spacing increases progressively as the film progresses, leaving no space for the 10th frame. What could it be?

Hi man, did you managed to fix this problem ? My pentax is exposing only 7 frames of 10. Any idea how to fix it ?
@lmrsrv
@lmrsrv 4 года назад
@@jackmeysner417 Mine is similar, 8/10 frames, I think the problem in this video might be the same one as my camera body. Somehow the tight advance must mess up the available space for exposure. Did you end up fixing your problem another way?

Hi, my Pentax 6x7 has this problem: instead of take 10 pictures It games only 9. I'll try to fix It by myself, do you have any vídeo that shows boa to do It? Thanks!!!

No. WD40 is a solvent, not a lubricant.

I suppose that one in a hundred Pentax 67 bodies my have a stiff film advance because of some internal problem, but the other 99 units will be stiff or jamming film in mid-roll because the user doesn't bother to read the instructions and loads the film improperly. Specifically, you must load a new film roll with some tension retained on the roll as you initially advance the paper roll to the starting point. That initial loading must maintain tension on the roll and not be loosely loaded as was shown here. If you do a loose (sloppy) initial loading, the shot film and paper wraps too loosely on the take-up spool, expands too much in the take-up chamber and will jam as a result. It's all right there in the instructions, but who read instructions for such a basic camera? ,Yes, I learned this the hard way. Comment on video: sign language may have worked okay for the plains Indians, but it doesn't cut it in this venue.
@mikeno62
@mikeno62 7 лет назад
Thank's for the comment Randall, but it was actually the left side bearing for the full film roll in the camera that was so stiff to move, so it need some attention. I know the problem with the camera, about the way of loading it. I use my "test film" to find out what was wrong with part of the film advance. The sign language is just the way I made my film's early'er (it work's okay for some people and not for other's...), sooner I have got a HD video camera to make my film's better and with talking at the same time. Cheers Kenneth
