*Sturm:* "Nell never told you what happened to your father." *Andy:* "She told me enough! She told me you killed him!" *Sturm:* "No! I...am your father."
+Sup Bryan Nah.He never got killed at all.It was a clone all along.Or do you honestly think that someone as intelligent as Sturm would give commands on the actual battlefield?Of course not.He was sitting in his secret military base in Florida eating some pizza
I can just imagine Sturm watching the war go on outside his base, sitting in a throne, completely silent as parts of his forces are destroyed. Each death fueling his fury even more. His final plan will be ready, just a few more weeks...but these heroes are getting hasty...his patience grows thin, as he clenches a cold, metallic fist, before slamming it down, standing up, and pointing a finger in the air. The united forces of the Orange Star, Blue Moon, Yellow Comet and Green Earth look up, only to see something falling: a meteor. He points where he desires, as the meteor heads towards a large group of tanks and other units, said units going as fast as possible to escape the impact, though very few making it out. Everybody stares in pure horror, as Sturm sits back down, presses a button, activating an intercom. “You insolent dogs...all I ask is for you to defend my weapons, and still you fail me!” His troops are on the move, immediately killing any remaining enemies from the meteor strike, as the Death Ray continues to charge. And thus, he goes silent once more.
I remember having a freak out in the last mission when I saw Sturm's dialogue box pop up and I was like "NO FUCKING WAY IT CAN'T BE CHARGED YET!" then I realized it was actually just dialogue, not his SCOP
I've never had difficulty in strategy games, but facing Sturm is ridiculous! Hi! Look at me, I toss gigantic meteors around and rampage three people at once!
My god idk how I won but I just spam mech middle like no tomorrow to hold off the on slaught while the side build up forces to attack. And you know get meteored everything I build up some forces lolol.
I remember when I first faced him in AW2 (yes I started with that one, shut up, it was the only one we had at the time). I was frankly a little underwhelmed at first that he only had a Super CO Power, and that what it does is basically a triple-powered Missile Silo... *But then I saw the unit stats and realized how screwed I was.* His brutality is immensely well captured, both in demeanor and in combat, and he literally just does what he does because that's his goal. A two-dimensional villain, yes, but a damn brilliantly made one at that. Only an idiot would call him a bland character.
Sturm drops meteor. Andy: "Ha. I've used Hyper Repair. My units are healed." Sturm: "What are you going to do about the second meteor?" Andy: "SSSShhhhhhiiiitttttt!!"
I remember when I first fought him in last mission of AW 1. I was so excited about his CO Power, what could it be, what kind of bonus to his troops it will be, but when I saw that 'METEOR STRIKE' COP I was like "oh, shi~!!!" Truly best villian ever.
In Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, Sturm had 120 offense/120 defense (just above Hawke's 110/110 and below Kanbei's 130/130) stats. And yes, he was completely broken. I was both glad and defeated when I knew he wouldn't be making any kind of return in AWDS. Still my favorite CO though.
*Gets emulator on phone* *Plays* *Gets to final mission* *Everything is going according to plan. Hehehe.* *METEOR BOOM BOOM CRASH* "FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" *Throws phone into a wall*
The irony of that being in AW1, Andy's units have more defense than Sturm does. For some reason, Campaign Sturm has 120/80 units (Offense/defense), while Blandy Andy has 100/100 units. But by AW2, Sturm was a true OP monster. 120/120 units with perfect terrain traversal, at no drawback.
@@urbanberndtsson then you go to AW2 and you get a monstrous 120/120 With a metoer on top not to mention it increases the stats even further for that turn
@@bongcloudopening5404 and then there's dual strike where Sturm... is dead. And his replacement has 110/110, units don't ignore terrain, his SCOP has an equal charge to Sturm but does only 3 damage and units hit skip their next turn They need to make a new AW game where Sturm returns with his AW2 stats and just wrecks the place
Found my old AW2 cart and just got to the final missions again. Holy damn, even 10+ years later, Sturm's theme still sends shivers up the spine. You hear this and you know you're in for an ass-kicking.
*Ends turn , thinking everything is going to plan *Sturn's turn. Music plays, and I see my plan fall apart. There goes all my Medium tanks *Shuts off gameboy and cries
Strum is a very good CO, his power is kinda cool as it rains down a meteor, but that’s not why I like him. His ability to have absolutely no terrain slow down is a beast, I like to think his ability is basically Blitzkrieg.
I know, it's definitely a much darker storyline. It kind of made me regret getting it at first since it didn't feel the same. But after giving it a chance I have come to realize it is a pretty good game. The storyline reset was probably needed as well. How many times could Black Hole threaten the world before it got old? Not to mention the cast of good guys was getting pretty big. Better to start clean with a new story and re-balanced combat than over use the same cast we loved.
You will tremble before my power! Fear is all you have left... You shall not survive! Prepare to embrace darkness! Such power... I regret crushing it. BURNING EARTH!!
Well, I got my Neo And MD Tank army ready. Bring it, Sturm! *Game changes to Sturm's Turn, and uses his Super CO Power* Well, nice knowing you Neo and MD Tanks, you are absolutely FUCKED.
Epic Moment from AW1: You are attacked by a mysterious villain, "?", who allegedly brought chaos to Wars World, looks like an Octorock wearing a hat, and poofs out smoke when he's happy. Good times...
One of the hardest bosses of any game, + he was an evil badass! I remember it tooke me like 7 or 8 attempts spanning a whole year to beat the last level on advance wars 2
He actually targets the area that has the highest cost. So if you group a bunch of troops together and raise the cost really high he rewards you... with a meteor... utterly smashing your group...
For all of those who thought Strum had died.... ....Do you really think the meteor storm that blasted us into "Days of Ruin" was a coincidence? ....Ya, I didn't think so.
Such a badass tune. If only he existed in DS; I'd have wanted to hear his theme all clean-like. As an aside, I /really/ wish he was in DS. His replacement was pure crap, what with the weak design and even weaker theme. Hell I want to say the same to the other new Black Hole COs: Jugger is basically Flak, but more irritating than amusing, and with an even more stupid luck spread. Koal is an asshole, and not even a cool one: basically Adder+. Kindle's also an asshole, but more useful (read:broken), so she's alright.
Well... I would like a new game with the cast from Dual Strike, with our villian being Sturm, he may have been killed by Hawke, but it would be cool if he used his "Cloning COs power" to be able to make an apperance.
Kaiser Syphrett Too bad the clones were only temporary... yet Stolos (aw:dor) with a lot of black hole endless-production factories and black hole weapons would make the allies cr*p themselves.
RoKayven Why they removed Sturm is beyond me. Sure, he died, but there are so many antagonists that die in games, and while they're removed from the story, they're still in the game. Also, the very point of Sturm was that he was the ultimate enemy. He was SUPPOSED to be broken in every way imaginable, so that's not a valid reason he was removed (some claimed it is.) So... yeah, the failed pretty miserably with AW:DS, the idea with tagging was interesting, but the "true boss" in the "final fight" was the weakest, easiest, most PATHETIC match in the game. Even the tutorial was harder...
remember that AW:DS is set on Omega Land and they tell you multiple times that they are fighting black hole in the main land (that's why kan'bei, andy and others do not join the allies). So they focused the game in this continent, like a kind of a "secondary front" while the main one COULD be the one where Sturm is. Why? To make a story that can change a little. If you had put Sturm as main antagonist again it would've been like a rerun of previous games.
Sturm was pretty easy in both however...in the original Advance Wars in hard mode...GOD it's insane hard, I gave up trying to beat him and I gotten S on just about every Mission in the first 3 Advance Wars but goddammit this one is too tough. Especially when they hand you random COs on the left and right.
Are you sure you could chose which COs you wanted as allies? because I remember I was forced to use Max and Drake as my allies and I used Andy as my main.
Yes... if it's the most valuable. The meteor strike is calculated as such: What are the most expensive enemy units on the board? For every health point lost subtract 10% (so 9/10 hp would be 90% value, 4/10 would be 40%, etc) and for an attack subtract in the same fashion the value of any Sturm units in the area (also accounting for health points), so basically it does the maximum value damage to the enemy units. One must also remember however Sturm's base movement ability to ignore terrain, meaning if he knows where it is most likely to hit, he can just pull the troops in danger back very easily before using the attack.
@GmanGregilla The Black Hole Army seems to be based on a terminator-esque military due to their entire army being almost-robot like. Note that there's no humans controlling the tanks, or guys inside their helicopters.
@DefendinMyBase I think the word you are searching for is either "Panzerbüchse" or "Raketenwerfer". But actually, "Panzerfaust" was the official name for anti-tank-missile-launcher (;
He is in there,he is an unlock able character but only if you get ALL 300 medals.Which is crazy cause you will spend an immense amount of time doing it.I read it in an ign forum or something
This is it, the true Benchmark of a final Boss. His unit is strong and tanky af, just when you think you have it figured out by killing his unit, bam meteor came down decimating your army
@Rtyeta I think Black Hole are an Alien Race. In the opening "movie" of AW2 (or was it AWDS?) it says "Otherworldly Invaders" when the Black Hole COs appear up.
@justjoyas I do agree, but I give a close second to Caulder; his CO range is 3, which is pretty good size, and every unit inside gets +5 attack (Letting infantry kill recon), +5 defense (Letting infantry survive an A-Air attack), and gets repaired 5 at the beginning of his turn. So you'd have to take them down to 4 during your turn(With the +defense) just to get them down to 9 at the beginning of his when he attacks you (with the +attack) Only reason he isn't first: They didn't give him a power.
I have heard they are thinking about making a new AW. If they do I want it to either continue DOR/DC or end the Wars World Saga. I would like to see Sturm reappear as the main villain, with the Sturm Hawke killed simply a clone distraction. I would also like to see a sort of rebel black hole army with Hawke and Lash as the main CO's. Maybe call the new army "Dark Rift" or something else kinda catchy. Put a few other CO's along with them. Then ditch tag powers and balance the freaking COs!
Sturm is in Dual Strike, but not in any way that can be seen or used. They originally planned to drop Sturm, Flak, AND Adder, but decided last minute to put them in. There is a character slot in the game data for Sturm, but it's empty, and he has no art, so I guess they decided to keep him dead. They could still bring him back though, Black Hole has clone technology and he wears some kind of suit to sustain his livelihood, so if say the Bolt Guard decided to bank on Hawke's common enemy...
@Knutte3 in Advance Wars 2, yes he's dead in Dual Strike, it's unlikely, that he's unlockable besides, I once played this game at a friend's, and he has unlocked every Character, at least there was no "?" left, so yeah, it's very unlikely he's unlockable
Every time I had Sturm on the ropes , I would always have to disperse my forces as he is almost full for his Super CO cause that crap takes out so much. Oh look , there is 4 Neo tanks, Splash. Game Over, start rebuilding that army.
Someone pointed out Sturm and Tabitha's theme sounded very similarly, the two being virtualy the same character by stats and not by design or anything else. Intellegent Systems is a very clever company, they are.
@Sephiroth5008 Because the pixels are enlarged here. On the DS screen they look perfect. If you back up from your computer and look at him you'll see the did that to give it a look of depth and 3D
Sturm is the hardest person to beat, no co could ever match his power, in a million years. I don't care what new bad guy they get, Strum will always be on top.
While his power builds slowly, YOU WOULDN'T KNOW IT IN THE FINAL BATTLES! You have to take out so many of his units so it feels like he's always dropping those damn meteors o_o
@Carrottime I'm still convinced DoR was a prequel, and the meteor thing was Sturm (or his race) trying to weaken the planet for an easier invasion. Then, when humans prove their tenacity, Sturm opts for the subtle approach he uses in AW1. And of course, the survivors of the Rubinelle and Lazurian armies cast off their names, heavy with memory of wars best forgotten, and form OS, BM, GE, and YC. Over some period of time, I'm kinda sure Sturm doesn't age too quickly.
Wow, it's been years, but hearing this song brings back horrible memories of meteor strike in the last mission of the original Advance Wars 0_o God Sturm was so op in that game hahaha
I agree. I'm sure they wanted to make him more usable in human vs. human matches instead of people banning him right off the bat, but it kinda takes away from the epic-ness of the last fight. Caulder of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin(Dark Conflict in Europe) returns to the GBA days and is a unbalanced end boss(no CO power but massive attack and defense boosts in an area and 5 HP heals every friggen turn for all of his units in this range).
