What cue did you use for this video?
@RayJ1216
@RayJ1216 3 года назад
Thanks for the video and I have some questions. When you say to have a loose grip to help with action, it appears you really mean to keep the thumb and forefinger loose and I think that's to allow the fingers to release the cue stick on the follow through so that the wrist can stay inline with the forearm (rather than pivot backwards as would happen with a tight grip). Is that correct? And what about the wrist and wrist action? Your didn't discuss it and it was not visible on your power draw shot. Some advocate wrist snap, some advocate 'natural' wrist snap by allowing the hand to lag on the start of the forward stroke; others are skeptics. When doing frame by frame examination of your power draw stroke, I see two things. First, you had a full, but very fast backswing. Is that backstroke speed a flaw or do you consider it an important part of getting good action? Second, you clearly raised your arm on the backstroke and then the stroke was aimed more down: probably hitting lower on the CB, but also down. Is that a flaw or do you recommend hitting downwards to get better action? Then how do you execute a power follow shot? Do you finish UP by dropping your elbow (and having timing issues) or what? And if hitting down is intentional, could you discuss that more? Do you vary how much down you hit depending on the amount of draw you want? You say to give an extra 25% follow through to get better action. Clearly some exaggerated movement AFTER the ball is long gone will have no effect. So you want us to do something before the hit that results in a natural extra long follow through. I don't think that you want us to drop our elbow. So what is it that we should be doing on the approach to the ball that results in such a long follow through? I also notice you keep a tight bridge with your left hand and the cue stick drives into the cloth and bends significantly. Yet some get good action with an open bridge. Comments? You mention equipment being an issue. The cue tip and chalk seem the most important. Can you get such action with a house cue or do you need a special brand or hard/soft tip or chalk? Dime radius important? Thanks for any clarification you can add.

Man, you nailed it) You asked literally every question I would want to ask Venom) Thnx! Hope for answers)
@VenomTrickshotsOfficial
@VenomTrickshotsOfficial 3 года назад
That is a LOT of questions haha I am gonna try my best to answe: Material tip/chalk is important but of course shaft itself. For example you will find out with carbon shaft you get much more action on follow shots but not on draw compared to wood. I use Kamui black super soft (the BEST, after trying nearly everything that exists...) and kamui chalk 1.21. No question there its just superior. For action you will get more power with close bridge on the same shot because of that shaft bending you mentioned. You can get more than enough with open bridge but when it comes to the extreme no question that close bridge is best. The follow through really is what made my stroke so I truly believe when you focus on making it longer action will be better. Not sure the physics/mental behind it but it is a shocking difference. For lose grip, some very good point I have actually never thought about. When we say lose its mostly the back fingers not the front though. Never full tight grip with the whole hand basically. Let's say you had a string attached to your hand rather then holding with fingers I would bet you would get more action. So its a feel thing if you know what I mean. For elbow drop, so many different schools but almost everyone does a bit. It's not as bad as some other technical things as long as you are able to strike the right spot on that cue ball. I have seen it all for no drop to full drop on exceptional players. Hope that helps :)
@RayJ1216
@RayJ1216 3 года назад
@@VenomTrickshotsOfficial That's very useful. Thanks. So the follow through is really critical, but you're not sure how you achieve that. Let us know if you ever figure out the mechanics. Your backstroke. You do raise your arm and strike down during that power draw. Should we copy that or not? And what do you do on power follow shots?

Anyone would explain to me for what scenarios we have to use short, medium or hard stroke? I mean, it depends on the distance between cue ball and object ball?
@kerrykellett8717
@kerrykellett8717 2 года назад
The answer to this takes in a ton of factors. Distance, how much English you want, when you want it to catch or take effect. It also changes how much deflection there is between the balls. I've always been taught to hit as soft as possible to get the desired effect.

@grumpygrandad1216
@grumpygrandad1216 Год назад
Hi Venom, my aim when applying no English is pretty good even top and bottom, but as soon as I want to apply English (any side) I miss a lot unless the object ball is close to the pocket, do you have to aim at a different point of the pocket when applying side spin or is it just a case of finding your own adjustment if that makes sense ? Thank you
@5ive6ixDota
@5ive6ixDota 10 месяцев назад
Hitting the cue ball with right s English will throw the object ball to the left, and vice Versa. Hitting the ball soft with English will cause the cue ball to grab the felt and it will curve a bit, but hitting it harder will increase the deflection. Just have to practice with it and get a good feel for your stick and it’s deflection

Valerie's grip is more consistent with the cue weight balance. If depending of the distance from the cue ball to the rail you change your grip distance, your power will not be consistent in the papers. Ovbiously you can feel it and change the power, but that's not theory

Venom. I'm curious with rules and regulations in A.P.A. and T.A.P. leagues. And EVEN on pro levels. Why isn't screw on tips used more? I understand that they don't last as long. But if I can change to a 10mm tip for added masse. Why shouldn't I have a shooting stick. With a good permanent tip. Then a jump/masse/break stick? LIGHT 13-14 ounces? Where I can change the tip size? Depending on what I need the cue ball to do??? And why wouldn't higher level players use screw on tips for tournaments? And if it's due to them going bad quicker? Why does that matter? If you have 100 tips? Can you please give me your input on this? Because I'm determined to become professional and am close. Ability wise. Thanks my guy!

Most important thing is that you're stable. With a proper stance you shouldn't be able to move sideways and have enough room for your arm to follow through. As long as that's good, you shouldn't worry about it.
