I'mma be honest as a bowler who actually cares more about how a ball looks on the lane. The explanation about a strong versus weak ball especially on a house pattern was SPOT ON. Great video and keep it up

I know this has nothing to do with this video, but....How hard does a ball have to hit the lane to damage the wood? Mythbusters season 6, episode 9.....

Dude. You need help with your release & especially your follow through.

Just something I've learned and what I teach the youth bowlers, if you are looking at the pins or keeping your eyes down lane the whole time then your body is going to want to launch the ball (too much down lane speed and not enough revs). If you bring your eyes closer, arrows to dots, then you'll lay it down at your mark rather than throw it past it. I do LOVE the concept you mentioned about finding brake point and THEN drawing that straight line back to your lay down spot. A strong mental picture helps the body perform the task.

I’ve been averaging about 155 since switching to 2 handed bowling. Used your advice in this video for tonight’s league game and shot a 196, 148, and a PR of 253 in the 3rd game. Thanks for the help!

I know this is and older video. But this spot on. Thank you. I just got back into bowling after 25 years of being out. I've always looked down at the dots for ball release. I still do sometimes, trying to break this habit. Just started looking up down lane just a bit above arrows.which ti me me a bit nerve-racking. Because I'm just starting to do this. Its like throwing a baseball football basketball. There are no dots or arrows ti go bye its by site feel and touch to get the ball were it need to go Catcher Reciever or the Net. Same difference only you now have to focus on the Alley with your site on a target down lane I'm sure once you get used to doing this it will be like riding a bike. Plus I am now learning to shape the ball taught myself buy watching great videos like this. I'm not a promoter of anything but this guy rocks. Not trying to take away thing from this guy just trying to pass along more help. There is this guy in here think his name on RU-vid is Garret Wong Video is called Quiet Eye something. I've learned a great deal on watching these videos and this Quiet Eye breaks down a bit more but plays right in to this guys video which is spot on Thank very much for your RICK SOLID explanational video it really help me and I'm sure others. Keep up the great videos look forward to seeing much more ❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎳🎳🎳🎳🎳

You use a hook ball. Some of us use a straight ball?

I stare at the pocket and envision the whole line to the pocket.

I get to my starting spot on the approach, then kind of trace my desired reaction on the lane. Then I look at the foul line, until I get to the top of my backswing, where I move my eyes to the arrows, then to the breakpoint as I release. Kind of like Wes Mallot

Great video Mr. 220 !!! .. awesome! .. this is exactly what I am trying to learn now. And trying to learn how to adjust as the lanes change, what ball to use, where to stand, where to aim, etc. I love these kinds of videos to help me to figure these things out. Most of the time I just get confused but I am learning.

Kudos to you for this video. I have never seen anyone explain it better or keep it so simple.

Thanks for the video. I struggle being consistent with aiming some days. Learning to look at the breakpoint will be my next tweak!

Excellent video. I've been targeting closer to the dots than the arrows for several years now and I find that my ball gets into a roll much better that way. I tried to target down at the range finders like you mentioned as I found that most good house shot bowlers will have their ball rolling over board 8 or 9 down at 40 feet; however, my ability to hook the ball when I did that lost it's strength. Possibly I was getting to higher and higher speeds, not sure. These days with stronger equipment I'll stand somewhere between boards 25 to 28 and target boards 12 to 10. With weaker balls I'll move a bit more to the right. For spares I generally target at the tip of first range finder at 34 feet at various places on the lane. For example I stand on board 30 for the 10-pin and aim at board 9 at 34 feet. I'll try your suggestion and see if I incorporate it into my game. Thank you!

Great video. An easy to understand explanation. Some other channels make it seam more confusing then it actually is.

Great video! I liked how informative it is in regards to both targetting and the strong and weak bowling balls.

I watched this video last Friday from home about an hour or two before I went bowling (just to practice/have fun) and I just want to say it legitimately helped. I've been in a slump for almost two months. Right after I joined a league for the first time my scores went down. I don't know if I'm in my own head or putting too much pressure on myself but, this video gave me some tips that really seemed to help quite a bit and I truly think the next league night I'll get my first 200+ game in league.
