This exercise, called "javelin", comes from very long time. I personally saw i9ty back at Sesto, Italy, during 1983 Interski. Back then, it was used from the fall line on , for balance. To make it usefull for the crossing "over", you must start from two parallel skis, equally loaded and lift/cross the down side ski, by twisting the corresponding foot (as if you wanted to look at the base of the ski) pulling the little toe towards you. the movement is called "invertion". As result, edge change will occur, As you do 2 or 3, try to do with your foot the same "torsion" inside the boot, without lifting or crossing the ski. you will see that the cross-over happens and your now inside ski cuts a nice carved turn…..Please, forget the hips, knees, etc., just work with the feet : lift, twist, tip, roll, THE FOOT, FEET,. balance has to be found, NOT TAUGHT.
Forget the hips, knees, what a joke ! Skiing is art, it's way more difficult to talk about just the feet for balancing. The hips is the base, the core is close so for the balance in the axis of the skis and sideways it's the only way to understand and apply the correct things to do. Shin must stay in contact on the tongues of the ski-boots, the hips must move forward for that between turns and flexing without moving back the hips. Just talk with a professional if you need to...
Interesting. Long ago we had a similar drill - except with an old ski geometry (no carving) we had to jump from ski to ski Little bit confused by crossing ski. Regardless of kneework, we were taught to keep skis parallel all the time.
Javelin turns, the new inside ski is lifted and the outside ski is steered underneath that ski, there is an error here in that she is crossing the inside ski over a bit when she lifts it instead of just steering the outside ski underneath the inside ski.
a good job of demoing Javelin turns for angulation but nothing for cross over or cross under. In fact the crossover is wrong it should not be done with a hop rather just a projection in the direction of the turn.
I feel relaxed When I see your skiing You sent a heart. You also manage your subscriber (smiling) What do you do in summer after winter passes? I know that South America is winter from June to August
Nice job. You have a very good balance. But this drill dos not improve the transition. Before you start the transition you put the inside ski on the snow and you lift up the next inside ski when the transmission is already done. It improves your angulation and also the the separation of the hips and the rest of the upper body.
Try to build it up progressively with the raising pressure to make it more fluent, start from the fall line. Remember, every movement must be connected in the smoothest way, direction less resistance. Nice position though. By us the exercise is called the "swiss cross". High level weight shifting exercise with body position, for precise (weight) pressure distribution on the edges by race carving. Improves mostly the steering.
Such a lovely skier. Others suggest lifting the inside ski without turning it over the outside ski, rather, turn the outside ski under the inside ski. Wondering what your thoughts are?
Hello there It looks like that you do not understand what does it mean cross over> Everything that you are trying to show is hip projection that is ok for the short radius turns/ Cross over is different movement that your skier did not demonstrate at all. In addition to that when she is turning she is extending in the knees and hips that leads skis to rotate and this not good for the carving turns because the skier loosing speed
Твой комент про extension of the knee and hip вообще не понял.
Javelin is mostly about keeping the weight forward and over the outside ski and about lower and upper body separation. Вот классические примеры Javelin (заметь, с проскальзыванием and with extension): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FrMHKDjC4XI.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TqEbiqIO4fw.html Короче, зря ты на детишек наехал. :-)
France, station DEUX Alps. And if it's the glacier, I do not think it's winter, because somewhere I read that in winter they close it. I was there doing a course in August 1980. I really like to see those trail again !! 🙂
So if you have short skis like r12 is possibile with all turn on edge, with gs 185 you could do maybe 3 turns and than you would get too much speed, so with gs is allways bit turning ski with feet to get smaller radius of turn.
These are not high level turns, there should be no extension in the release and instead flexing of the outside ski and tipping the new inside ski to the little toe edge.
is ok? but like giving a woolf red meet and ask him to be vegetarian! that wrong ski going to hunt you! is better to lift ski than cross! icrease angulation in a rib cage to increase edgeeng!
Showing this crossing ski exercise and flexing with the hips going backward, very efficient ! Also when flexing the legs she's moving the shoulders forward, but the hips stay backward. Not interesting !
Hip to the mountain side is the goal of this exercise, for sure can happend in exercise that skier goes bit back, it is standard problem for every person learning, from beginning to advanced skiing.
Sry, sometimes, it's just to hot to wear it. What about 10 years ago, when that was not obligatory? Just another example of people being mislead into thinking, you need one, and then buying it. Sometimes, when people fall, not even a helmet would help. Greets people, just try to enjoy this beautiful video 🙏👍
miromiro Well for a start I don’t go on piste unless the off piste is truly awful, and I don’t watch videos to improve my skiing, except perhaps videos of people actually skiing rather than doing contrived exercises. I just stumbled on this and watched out of curiosity.
You never learn proper carving off piste, you need to train on ice Torti, than you`ll understand this exercise...maybe. Everybody has his own limitations. By the way I`m a freerider as well ;)
