Every time after Eric's videos I go into the next game full of confidence only to realize that unfortunately I only play like his opponents in the video
@@zacherychapman8474 They falsely advertised their product, continuously broke HIPAA by selling many patients' personal data to Facebook, (the FTC eventually had to step in) and encouraged people to use their (ineffective) product instead of seeking needed medical attention.
@@zacherychapman8474 They shared user's health information with advertisers. They are really not a sponsor that Eric should be associated with, despite his good intensions.
@@zacherychapman8474 As far as what's incontrovertible and on the public record, they were caught sharing sensitive user data with other companies despite language on their website indicating they wouldn't. The FTC forced them to pay out something like seven million dollars. As far as general gripes with their business model, it has all the same problems as e.g. Uber/Uber Eats: underpaid workers, lousy service due to poor vetting, perverse incentives, etc. Could be a typical story of late-stage capitalism, except these guys are specifically targeted at vulnerable people. I'd also add that the very idea of online therapy strips out a lot of the humanity of therapy, as well as the benefits of setting aside a special time and location where you're just alone with this person who's supposed to care about you and your problems. A lousy therapist is going to be a lousy therapist either way, but a good therapist is really going to struggle to make a positive impact under those conditions.
Love what you're doing with this series and in general, but please drop Better Help as your sponsor ASAP, they are extremely bad news. Unlicensed and underpaid therapists, selling client data to advertisers, shady payment/pricing tactics, and more. They were bad when they got called out years ago and they're arguably even worse now.
He might have signed some contract that binds him to do a certain number of sponsor segments for them before he can quit. Idk how RU-vid sponsorships work at all, but that sounds like something BH would do if they legally can.
I hate Knights with a passion. These things can mess up everything if you are not careful in the endgame. On the other hand, I love them for this reason X-)
Psychologically, escaping a fork only to fall into a second fork is devastating. I don't think you can underestimate the psychological effect on a human player.
@@danielward7008 This isn't a great take. You are basically saying no matter what he does to get money we should just accept it because it pays him to make content and you personally can ignore it. If he got a sponsor for a company that used exclusively unpaid child labor for its operations, you could ignore it with the excuse "well he's getting paid and it doesn't affect me", but that doesn't prevent it from being pretty fucked up.
@uifwastaken they were also caught selling sensitive patient data to third parties... to me that's not something you should be allowed to crawl back from. Google it, its really damning stuff. Not only did they do it, they tried to cover it up. No shade on Eric though, feel like he chosses his spinsors from a good place. This one just doesn't sit right with a lot of people. That is BHs fault not Eric's.
@@haiyueluo9048 they've been investigated by the FTC. BetterHelp is accused of deceptive data collection, not holding its therapists accountable, not being diligent about refunds, over working its therapists, and not verifying therapist credentials well.
That's a pretty questionable sponsor, Eric. On another more positive note, you apologized for drawing too many arrows, but I really liked that you were going that far. Calculating all those moves and different "futures" is what it's all about and I think it fell very well in line with the title having "advanced" in it. Advancing this purely educational speedrun with theory that matches to what is to come, if that makes sense. I really enjoyed you showing all the different moves, because it also tends to validate the thoughts of me as a viewer.
2nd game seemed crazy not to trade a bishop for a rook+defended pawn+threaten a bishop (after trading the knight as well, moving the queen).. the bishop on d3 is not strong enough to give that up. If they don't take (to save their rook), you can go back and you have a pawn and still prevent castling.
On this beautiful day, IM Rosen invented the game of Cannibal Chess, which is normal chess except you can take your own pieces. You lose material, but can gain new positional attacks, even mating nets, in the process!
I saw that knight fork in the last game and wondered why the opponent didn't play it. I thought I had missed something obvious that both Eric and his opponent were aware of because it's one of the easier tactics to see.
Holey Smokes brother I was about to send out a search party, we have grown used to getting new material out every few days now, Also I have watched the entire speed run so far 2-3 times, very instructive chess. I think this should be your new go to videos, after this do another speed run and another, speed runs that are not really SPEED runs are my new favorite..... (one more also).... Also, don't you still have games from your last tournament (just before Bali) that you haven't put out yet?? I feel like we left that tournament hanging unresolved? Maybe i'm wrong. Anyway, Good Stuff Brother.
Being around the ELO ranks shown in this video, I found the content absolutely awesome. Great ideas, great moves all around, and ... still no mercy ! Plus, it really conforted me to see THE Erice Rosen in a losing position on one of the games. This goes to show the first one to collapse loses. Eric being Eric, he won't be collapsing first, of course. Guys, we have to work on our stamina ! Chess is like a puzzle game played by two players. Each move, you present some problems to your opponent, who in turn has to give you back another problem. If you cannot crack it, or if you get tired, you lose. Brutal !
Eric, if you have the ability, please disable these 30+ second ads. Even though it says they are less frequent, your videos go on ad break all the time and the long ads are very unpleasant.
When you started this series on January, I was at 1200, now I am at 1600, you are catching up to me really fast... can you please send me your study material on scandinavian and london, I wanna get to 1800 before you do.... thanks...
not a bad observation and thats true. but i think he didnt like the fact after Rxf2 white can instead play Rxf2 and even though your up a pawn the position is a lot harder to play. the free pawn on f2 isnt as good as losing his very powerful rook. so instead he took it with the bishop allowing himself the pawn and the still very powerful rook that will continue to stare at the pawns
This entire comment section sounds like an echo chamber. "Dont get in bed with betterhelp". "Betterhelp is terrible, stay away eric". Let the man make his own decisions. Everybody chirping, companies make mistakes. Go do something with your life, improve something in your life, and let others do the same.
"This is not the type of move a player of this rating would make..." You never know, dude. My rating is the same as your opponent here and I saw this move immediately.
Eric avoids controversy by doing widely-done mildly unethical things. I still like him as a person and would like to play chess with him, but I am disappointed in some of the choices he makes as a content creator.
@@debrascott8775 how much have you paid for education in the field of economics? I want to know how hard you'll derisively laugh at an accurate answer.
You almost lost from the 1600 guy because in all your games instead of playing your elo which is IM , you play vs your opponents elo. Sober up, and make more videos like. Thank you mister
