Advanced elk calling: Take the Belt 

This video was made with the advanced elk caller in miind. It presents a unique situation where two herd bulls are competing for dominance over several cows. The bulls lock horns for a moment off film, but present a beautiful and educational audio experience for an elk caller. I filmed this myself and only used cow calls this particular day.
The lesson I'm trying to convey to advanced elk callers is this: One of the funnest and most inspirational moments as an elk caller can be when a herd bull comes in to your aggessive, dominant, mature bull sounds fully expecting to fight another mature bull. When you experience that type of situation, your body shakes, the knees quake and you experience the full adrenalin rush that hunting can offer.
Phelps diaphragms were used. Specifically the #2 Pitch Black Amp Diaphragm made by Phelps Game Calls. I used a Rocky Mountain Grunt tube called the Bull Basher. It produces the most authentic elk calls on the market right now. The tube was given to me by my good friend Lance Sellers who used to play in the NFL as a linebacker and has established himself as one of the great game callers of the west.
This video was taken in the fall of 2022. I had made a bad shot on a 340 6x6 bull elk in early September and as a form of self-punishment, I went on a film fest for the remainder of the fall. It ended up being a lot of fun and something I've always wanted to do.
Archery hunting has been a passion of mine since I was given a red recurve bow as a kid. I wore that thing out hunting squirrels and birds. When I was old enough, I used my dads recurve bow to hunt elk. The first time I went out in the dark by myself, I stumbled into a herd of elk and tried my luck at calling. I had zero training and not much luck. But over the years and tears of trial and error I've learned a lot.

I have killed two nice bulls with my bow and have been able to assist in taking multiple other trophy bull elk during the rut. When I was 23 years old I killed an archery bull while he was fighting another bull. In 2021, Kelly Child helped call in a really nice 7x7 and I shot it at 5 yards. The bull had come in to push off another bull and take his cows. Exactly the type of thing I tried to demonstrate in this video.
