WHAT'S YOUR STANCE ON VALENTINE'S? ARE YOU A LOVER OR A HATER?

I am indifferent, more positive I guess

@@CalmnessLivesHere yes, I'm the same. Although it is nice to see all the heart-shaped decorations and items in shops and restaurants 😊

Thank you for sharing your stories, a heartfelt mix of humor and sadness. It's truly brave to open up about personal experiences, and your honesty is deeply appreciated. Your storytelling doesn't just make learning English enjoyable; it makes it profoundly human and relatable. Sadly, I have no romantic tales of my own to share-never experienced that 'swoon' or 'smitten' feeling, lol. But listening to yours fills me with hope and joy. Look forward to your content with great anticipation!

Thank you so much for your wonderful and heartfelt comment! I'm really happy to hear that sharing a bit more of my personality has worked as I'm trying out different things, so thanks for saying that. As for swooning and being smitten for a couple of days, in my funnily tragic love life I've never really gone past that, so we are almost in the same boat 😜 who knows: maybe I should use this topic for one of my future non-language related videos. Not just my funny stories but also my relationship with love. I'll think about it 💪

Thank you so much for another amazing video. In Poland, we just add "old" to the "bachelor" or "maiden" and this way we get these quite unpleasant words for people who - in the opinion of others - stay unmarried for too long. But this age is changing, nowadays, young people don't use these words at all. As for you being (too) open, my Slavic soul is all for it! I've always felt your beautiful but fragile heart hidden under the logic of English ;) So now, I admire your courage in speaking of your love life. It's touching. I don't think it's too much. Anyway, you can share more of yourself in your podcast.

I guess the same is happening in all languages: now that it's more normal and socially acceptable to be single of your own volition, the negative connotation of these words is gradually dissipating. Awwww thanks for what you have written regarding my stories! I still want to make sure that my channel doesn't turn into a gossipy talk show but I do like the idea of sharing a bit more of my personality; if nothing else, to show that, as I always say, English is not just used for exams. So I'm really glad my experiment is working 🤩😍

Thank you for the video. Please make the sound a little bit louder when recording. And I wouldn`t recommend you to be so much personally open - that may not be pleasant to some people or it shows your emotional Italian ancestry. We, the Nordic type of Europeans, are mostly reserved and also perceive Britons as a rather reserved nation.

You're absolutely right about the sound, Jarvis, and thanks for pointing it out. Sound has always been the bane of my career as a RU-vidr: I've just shot another video today and I'll raise the volume even more when I edit it, hoping it doesn't screech 😊 As for being open, it's good to receive feedback as I'm trying out different things. I do want to show my personality a little bit more because I've always been very conscious of how serious I come across in my videos and I don't like it, because I'm not at all like that when I teach face to face. I understand that given the advanced level of my teaching, people may just want to focus on the learning side of things, but I don't think it hurts to know a few fun facts about your teacher; and since it's at the end of the video, it's easily skippable 😊 I also use this as a way to show that English is not just something abstract that you learn for exams but it's a tool that we use to talk about every aspect of our lives. Thanks again for telling me what you think as it's all positive food for thought 😊💪
