Hi Karina, this is nice, thanks. I have one query if you can tell me it will be very helpful. I have a paragraph and if I want to insert a paragraph break after exactly 5 words, the 6th word should start in a new paragraph, how can I do it using find and replace ? Thanks
Very Informative. Thanks a lot, today I learnt something new about MS Word, although I have been using word for more than 10 years (professionally). Yet, I believe there is so much to learn.:)
Your video is excellent! I wonder if you have a suggestion for creating a list of acronyms in a document without having to go through and mark each one as an index entry. I was thinking of using wildcard search to select the acronyms, then copy those into a spreadsheet to use as the basis for a Word index, but I can't figure out how to select the spelled-out version of the acronym that precedes it, and I'd like to avoid having to go back and write them all in. For example, can you think of a way I could select "Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA)" and "United States of America (USA)" in a document? Thank you for any assistance!
I'm so glad I've found your playlist on MS Word, especially this very tutorial. In a justified running paragraph, is it possible to replace a regular space with a non-breaking space for a particular word (ex. to convert the regular space between the word "Dr." and the "Family name") ONLY when it occurs at the end of a line? I know how to do it for an entire text, but I just can't seem to find the solution this very targeted issue. Your tutorials are simply brilliant! Such clarity!
Jings, never realised how powerful/useful find/replace was. One question, at about 5:45 you said that para breaks in wildcards were no longer ^p but ^13, however, you did not say how you knew that, what is the source of that information?
Karina, first of all, this is an amazing tutorial. I have a question though, I just have replaced all of my dots with commas, saved and closed my document without noticing the effect of it to my whole document. My sentences, paragraphs are kinda messy right now. Could you help me out, how can I change commas into dots at the beginning of my sentences?
Karina, if you happen to see this: Whenever I use an asterisk and the end of word symbol *> to highlight selected text, some of the text beyond the > symbol is highlighted also. I must be doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what. I tried brackets to make my selection an expression, but it still does the same thing. Please help! Very frustrating! BTW, your tutorials are excellent, very precise, and to the point... Thanks!
9:45 I have a small doubt....just before Halogens, Halocarbons, etc will it not be a *tab* ...😗😗 why would there be a paragraph break near it? I notice that there is also a bullet list preceding the Halogen etc. Why would word search for carriage return?
Hallo, can you tell me what is the 'code' for adding 1 to find and replace. Chapter number has been removed through the whole document.. So I want to replace Chapter with Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3 and so on; each time adding 1 tot he previous flue.
Dear Karina, your video is very interesting. I'm trying to find a solution to put all numbers which are in brackets in italics, without putting the brackets in italics. Do you think it is doable? I can't find a way :( Thanks so much in advance for your input.
If it is possible to use Search to find a hyperlink, is it possible to call another macro for the Replace box. For example, if I wanted to Replace "the desk of Sally Jones" with "the desk of Peter Jones" without changing the link (it routes Sally's and Peter's clicks to the same page). I want to do this one by one as Sally should appear on some pages and Peter should appear on others and I need to decide case by case. I have a Macro that replaces Sally with Peter. Is there a way to put that macro in the Replace box?
Thank you for sharing it. I would be very happy if you instruct me how can I find out the words like ॥ 7॥, ॥ 9॥, ॥ 14॥ etc. that contain in the documents from this method?
Hi, do you have any idea where can I find infos about; How to highlight or find in a TEXT ALL the WORDS that starts or ends ONLY with a certain type of letter? thank you p/s It can be with word, excel, CSS, PHP or HTML
If you want to find words ending with e for example. You can type e in the find box and then select match suffix. Or you can type e> in the find box with use wildcards selected.
Is it possible to use Search to find hyperlinks and to change part of the hyperlink's text? Hyperlink in the Styles panel does not show items with that style. Itt is grayed out. Searching for the Highlighted Text from the Styles option in Search returns nothing. a blank search box and Control U sometimes finds hyperlink that are underlined, but not always. I would prefer not to disable all the Hyperlinks to change the Style of Hyperlinks. They don't turn back to Hyperlinks easily or consistently.Thank you so much!
thank you, sir : can you help me ? if i have a word like behind: problem 1: solution..... .... problem 2: can you help me for replace from solution to finish that soluion and infront of problem 2; then replace that solution by 5 white row ? thank you so much !
can I get the document you prepared for today's video please? and can you make a video for MacOS cause I struggle to find the editing options in this OS. Thank you for your video.
Hi. Is there a way to make all text bold that comes after a colon? I am currently using wildcards and : *^13. It finds all the relevant text after the colon, but it selects the colon too, which I don't want.
I have this siutation : 00:21 a full sentence with spaces and stuff essentially a Time stamp and a sentence I want to replalce the space after the time stamp with a Tab Character. Completely stumped ... is it possible to do it with Find and Replalce without writing some magical code !!!
I think if the time stamps are all formatted like 07:12 then Find what: ([0-9][0-9]:[0-9][0-9]) Should find every time stamp no matter what the numbers are. A space must be included at the end of the Find what box. Then in Replace with box put \1 that will make it leave the time stamp the same. Then make a Tab in the document and copy and paste it into the Replace with box after \1 This should make it replace every space after a time stamp with a Tab. The Use wildcards box must be ticked.
Great Video, I want to add no page no in first and second page, then contents with roman numerals, abstract with i ii and, introduction starts from arabic Any video for this
Excellent expression. I need different replaement, i wonder if you could help me and is it possible to do it simply ? I would like to change names with names countered. For example, I have words irregularly arranged for each expression. ABCD_01 ABCD_02 ABCD_05 ABCD_3 I would like to select them and replace with regularly countered. YUNUS_1 YUNUS_2
In the “Find what:” box put A) Then click in the “Replace with:” box Go to More Search Options, then Format Then select Style Choose the style that you want e.g. 1 / 1.1 / 1.1.1 or List Number
@@karinaadcock Thanks for reply. Now numbers are coming but letter A) are not getting replaced. It's coming like this - 1. A) 2. A) 3. A)......... I don't want A), i just want numbers in place of A).
I have used speech to text software to convert a podcast into a document. But now the document contains a lot of repeated words.(as we speak) E.g: I was i was going there. I like that that place. Now How can I replace that repeated words with a single word??
Does anybody know how to find & replace (also known as copy & paste) a whole paragraph? Word only lets me do a max of 2 sentences. Also, how do I find & replace a specific number (Example: 20 total pages. Top of each page has the date 0 1 0 5 2 0 2 0) I only want to change the 5 for the date on all 20 pages WITHOUT changing all the 5's throughout the paragraphs?
