38.4 weeks pregnant with our third baby, and I’m 35. AND my husband is 45 which is advanced paternal age. I have chronic hypertension (130s/80s) and I have gestational diabetes. Thankfully our baby is perfectly formed and doing wonderful 🥰.

My husband (36) and I (35) been married for almost 1 year now, at first we weren't sure we wanted kids, but after discussing it we decided we did. So we just started trying to concieve. We have a lot against us. Low sperm count, and age but praying we might get lucky, wish us luck.

Hi Tina, thank you for this video and sharing these insights. Can you kindly highlight more of the pros/advantages of being pregnant/having a baby later on in life? 😀
@mamanursetina
@mamanursetina Год назад
A lot of them are not physical but situational. So more settled in life, usually more financially stable, bigger network of support people around you to help with mental health and getting breaks to be more balanced, usually more informed, able to care for yourself more thoroughly. Basically the things that come with being an older adult can all lend to an improved birthing and postpartum experience.

From what I understand, while there is a rise in potential for complications with age, generally speaking, the chances of having a successful and healthy natural pregnancy within a year of regularly trying still outweigh the relatively low risks if you’re a decently healthy woman who hasn’t experienced perimenopause/menopause yet, which usually doesn’t start until 9-11 years after a woman’s 35th birthday. Every woman’s going to have a different fertility timeline, and it’s important to note that age isn’t the only factor.

It's very sad that parents often upon learning of their atypical babies (Down Syndrome, autistic, etc) choose to terminate the lives of their babies. All humans are equally precious. I have Down Syndrome and autistic friends and it's obvious they are just as valuable as typical humans.

Will this change as more people getting pregnant over 35 have previously been on COCP? Its a question of whether that always supressed ovulation itself, I realize, but deeply curious!

I’m pregnant at 35 and I had all the optional chromosomal test done and my baby is low risks for all of them. Which is the best option they give you. They can’t guarantee it so they say low risk. You can have a healthy pregnancy at 35. Try not to panic. I got pregnant first time trying to conceive.

I’m 38 yo and pregnant with my third (27 weeks). Will I be too old to try for a 4th baby? If I can ask your opinion, how long should I wait after I deliver my 3rd to try to conceive my 4th? I had a lot of blood tests done right before this pregnancy (because of 2 miscarriages) and everything came out normal, thank goodness.
@mamanursetina
@mamanursetina Год назад
Best person to ask this is your provider on when to try for your next baby but as long as you know there are some risks and you enter into another pregnancy with as healthy of a lifestyle and mindset then it’s a totally personal decision that would be so individual to each person! 🩷
@jaymiller6009
@jaymiller6009 11 месяцев назад
So……. You had a lot of blood tests with this pregnancy- because of two previous miscarriages.. Were those two miscarriages not a clear enough signal that getting pregnant when you’re old isn’t a great idea?
@greentree_
@greentree_ 11 месяцев назад
@@jaymiller6009 not at all as miscarriages happen at all ages - it happened once with me before my first baby. I just gave birth to a healthy baby boy last week at 38 years old. And in six months my obgyn said I could stat trying for my fourth baby. I still have fertility and God blesses.
@jaymiller6009
@jaymiller6009 11 месяцев назад
@Greentree_ Congratulations on the birth of your son! If your OBGYN said to start trying again for a fourth in six months, then I sincerely wish you all the best and hope you get pregnant quickly. If not, then make sure to have plenty of fun trying! Clearly your OB knows you, your health, as well as all other relative particulars. I definitely owe you an apology. My comment was completely ignorant and out of line. I don’t know you and I don’t know your situation and had no business making that comment. This won’t excuse my comment but perhaps it might help to explain it a little bit. A friend of a friend decided she wanted to try for another child before menopause set in, even though she had two sons and daughter who were all teenagers at that time. She was 46 and was told that it was extremely risky, her family physician was against it, etc. Her and her husband apparently spent tens of thousands on fertility treatments. She became pregnant and was told after a couple of ultrasounds and bloodwork that the baby was most likely “not healthy” and was told that terminating the pregnancy was something that her and her husband might want to consider. Well, because there was a chance the baby might be born healthy, she went ahead and brought the baby to full term. It was a baby boy with many severe defects. They kept their child for a few months and then surrendered the boy to some long care facility because they didn’t want “It” anymore. I am literally crying right now because I still remember those exact words from her and the tone in her voice when she said it; and that was over 20 years ago. That is what was fresh in my mind when I rattled off my comment to you and hit send. Again, for whatever it might be worth; I’m sorry for what I said earlier. I have no idea what it would be like to experience a miscarriage; let alone two of them. What I said was well beyond insensitive and was extremely hurtful. I feel ashamed of myself that I said that to you. You 100% most certainly did not deserve that… Not from me; not from anyone. What I can say is that I was there for the births of both my daughters. It was a life changing moment for me because when my first daughter was born, my life finally made sense to me. When I looked at her for the first time, I literally felt a change within me. My best guess is that it was probably some sort of natural hormone surge. I knew right then that her life mattered far more than mine did and I would do anything for her and would protect her at any cost. I experienced much the same thing with my second daughter two years later. I mentioned this because this is most likely what you just experienced with your son recently and will experience again within the next two years. Take care and I sincerely wish you all the best.

okay i’ve had two already and we want to have more but my fiancé and i are working to get our shit together. i used drugs unfortunately and we had both our boys taken. my firstborn went to my sister and we are fighting to get our little one back. both sober now and truly dedicated to getting ourselves better. like i said we want to have at least 2 more babies but i’m already going to be 32 this year and honestly dont see myself and my fiancé (and father of both my kids) being necessarily financially independent and stable and all that shit by the time i’m 35. i mean who knows. at the same time, we seem VERY fertile so i get the feeling that it wont be too hard lol.

Second pregnancy a miscarriage and third an ectopic... Just turned 32 and ssamee partnerr bought up tthee risks after 35 but I've become So scared of having children. I want them to be in a good place. We both deal with mental health issues, I just don't feel equipped even though I had always wanted to bee a parent

@ximkai8794
@ximkai8794 3 месяца назад
That's just considering the issues at birth. Nobody ever consideres the long term social problems involved with an older age pregnancy. Think about it, if you get pregnant at 40, you will be 60 by the time your kid hits adulthood. And on average, would be in twighlight years 10 to 20 years too early for the child. My cousin was born to older parents, she's already lost her father and she was only 23 at the time. Very sad stuff. There is a lot more to consider than "can I have a baby after 35." Than just if everyone is going to be healthy during the pregnancy or not.
@Sunsun281
@Sunsun281 3 месяца назад
They should change the terminology and refrain from saying “Geriatric pregnancy” it’s agism no? Or if anything oxymoronic since Geriatric is usually someone who is post menopausal, most likely infertile, perhaps needing incontinence briefs, maybe uses a cane or a walker, usually a widow with decreased sex drive.. A geriatric woman who spontaneously becomes pregnant would cease to be a geriatric in my opinion. Doesn’t go together.
