1970!!! So classic. Just before I got my start with programming in TRS-80 BASIC, LOL. Later came Fortran, and Pascal (love love love Borland's TurboPascal)! Now learning Python.

Would you please be so kind to do a video on mathematics required to study Algorithms or how a mathematics student should approach programming? Like share your experience as how being good in mathematics helped you learn c++.

You don’t have to be good at math to code. Unrelated fields unless you want to program in engineering world

Felleisen's books on Scheme ("The Little and the Seasoned Schemer") is a pretty good intro to programming in a (sadly untyped) functional language. After that, followup with Prolog which will yield a number of aha experiences (There is "The Reasoned Schemer" as an intro into logic programming with Scheme/Racket syntax which is a bit weird but okay too, and there is "The Little Prover" (theorem-proving) and "The Little Typer" (dependently typed languages, but I would rather use Idris for that), so apparently computer science is growing up slowy and moving out of the "let's program anything it's gonna be fine" stage. A functional language should be compelling to a mathematician and not everyone wants to go full Haskell or worry about the compressed crud that is "ECMAScript". Avoid Python, it's highly regarded (I don't know why it even exists except that everyone uses it because everyone uses it), and you don't want to do system programming in that language for the PDP-11, "C" or its overly baroque "C++" by the guy who didn't quite get object orientation.

I have always been interested in learning optimization (at first linear and the nonlinear) but the mathematics has become complicated. It would be interesting if you started a course in optimization from scratch! Following a basic book and following it step by step, so you could help us with all the doubts! I would be your most involved student! Thanks!

You and I same WhatsApp group, I'm doing a course on Optimization and wow I'm seeing flames and this would be very helpful

It looks like a nice book, however my favorite is the Etudes fro programmers. But it's quite expensive now, like over $1000.

With your obvious interest, skill and enthusiasm for programming as well as your solid mathematical abilities you should do a video that is sorely needed: what is the algorithm for processing a mathematical expression? I remember having to use Reverse Polish Notation with my HP calculator over 50 years ago - it couldn't do standard notation. But a TI-84 has no problem. What's the trick?

I think this is slowly becoming obsolete. Programming is a business of machines itself. I want to be like an internet sorcerer, run on beaches, sniff books, and do nothing 😁

Hey ik this question doesnt relate to the video but I am going into college and took ap calculus ab during my senior yr of highschool and got a 4 on the ap test. Should I retake calc 1 and then go into calc 2 to just go straight to calc 2. My fear is that I will be throwing myself in the deep end and will fall behind.

I wouldn't call this book "hard core" but hardly relevant. It might be interesting from a historical perspective, but reading this book would be like reading a book on blacksmithing to help with understanding a CNC machine.
