Thank you so much for this video! Two days of testing setting suggestions by others, and now I finally have my Thrustmaster T300 feeling just right in Forza Motorsports after watching your video. You made it so easy to understand what each slider does, and made great suggestions for both newer direct-drive wheels, and older belt/gear driven wheels.
+1 also keen, I haven't touched anything other than mechanical trail, but I bumped it to 150 on my T300 based on other vids but obviously different to what is suggested here
finally someone that explains it in a very easy way to understand, and even consider every type of wheel so everyone can have a very good starting point in order to fine tune their game, thank you very much, Im subscribing right now.
I really like that you mentioned the differences in settings for budget wheels and better wheels. I just got my very first wheel, so i obviously didn't wanna break the bank immediately, because i am not even sure how much I'm gonna like it. I went with the logitech g923 to start with. Thank you for this guide!
Dude thank you so so much. You’re the only forza content creator with an actual good settings guide. But heck what am I saying all of your videos are top tier. My wheel feels absolutely fantastic using the settings you provided. I just got a g923 today along with a next level racing f-gt lite cockpit and I’m absolutely loving it! Thanks again and keep up the great work brotha!
I got a cheap Tm TMX on market place and have been messing with settings for like 6 hours. This has helped me develop a solid baseline to start and tweak moving forward. Awesome video and breakdown, thanks man!
Thanks man. By far the best explained video out right now. I'm using a Thrustmaster TS-XW, and I've finally got really good FFB feel thanks to this vid.
Thank you for this I started using these on Sunday and you have the best breakdown of the settings I have found yet also your baselines provided me with the perfect starting point on my g920. Made a few tweaks for personal preference but since using these I have logged maybe 20 to 30 hour, can actually use my sim rig instead of it collecting dust and was able to improve my lap times consistently by anywhere from 1 to 5 seconds depending on the track.
Wow! This is the best explanation I have ever watched. Purely professional! Not that BS of "I like, I think", when the person talking about it says it feels so real and, in fact, doesn't even know how to drive in real life. Awesome job!
Thank you so much for including notes for older gear driven wheels. And then detailing each setting so we can understand how you came to your settings. I've been hunting for this exact video for a while now.
Thank you for this, did some adjustments based off now what I believe to be direct driven settings. Which everything helps and is appreciated. This actually is very complex to what type of wheel you are on. Just getting started in the sim portion of racing .
I have been playing Horizon 5 for about a year and Motorsports since it came out struggled with the settings tremendously however after just following a little quick setup today it's much better
Oh man, that's so much better. I find it odd that so many others have such different settings? This is by far the best I've tried. Like how you explained to use Force Feedback slider as your over all volume.
Thank you, I was not liking the game on my wheel and had started playing on controller. Finally have the wheel feeling as good as I hoped. Wheel DD Pro.
Ok this made mine feel dam good...... I have a T248 set at full ff and at ff3 setting..... And yes the center spring scale helps a crap load alot I crank mine to max Vibration Scale 50 Force Feedback Scale 125 Steering Self Alignment 33 Mechanical Trail Scale 200 Pneumatic Trail Scale 100 Road Feel Scale 200 Load Sensitivity 70 Wheel Damping Scale 100 Center Spring Scale 200 Dynamic Damper Behavior 70 Steering Sensitivity 50 Steering Linearity 50
I use your preset for Gear/belt with my 923 and it feels great. default settings are just terrible IMO. But the defaults in Horizon 5 are great I don't know how they could mess this up so bad.
After 20 years in a car and on a controller i finally got a tmx and its like im wrestling it the whole time. Learned to drift in a damn pickup truck and can't control a fale miata
my guess is also that Turn10 will very likely tune around with these settings in upcoming patches after they have collected now all the feedback from wheel users. especially in regard of how it feels when the front tyres break traction feels shockingly bad with the default settings, but for me i have to say that even having pneumatic scale over 50 and mechanical scale under 150 just feels bad because the ffb gets way too light when traction loss is occuring. I am playing on a Moza R9 btw. i am using mechanical scale at max, pneumatic 50 and load sens 50 and that feels actually okay.
Try using damping and reducing dynamic damping so the wheel stays heavier under traction loss. Also on a DD try lowering the pneumatic and mechanical more towards to center a bit.
What about setting in wheel software? I set my t300 in thrustmaster soft like by watch your guide for horizon 5. But in this video you dont show this part. Is settings similar???
What should be the steering angle setting in the wheel software? 5xx°(or just go by car setup)? Obviously not 7xx+° as this is not really a drift game. Thank you for the great video.
Your belt settings work well for my T300RS, but it still doesn't feel as detailed or connected as GT7's FFB. I noticed that the virtual wheel in cockpit view of a GT3 car will shake during a high speed straight, but my wheel is completely still with no detail corresponding with what's on screen. Is there something wrong here?
I followed the tutorial and most of my cars feel amazing now. I have liked, subscribed and spammed the videos everywhere. But on Forza Touring Cars the loss of grip is not existent. Why do you think it is that?
I feel like there must be a huge issue with my wheel settings, I’ve copied everything but it still feels horrible? For some reason when I turn left the force feedback wants to continue turning the car left and not center it? Is anyone else having this issue? And everything has a slight delay to it as well.. I’m so shocked
This is - by far - the most in dept and well put together wheel tutorial for FM8 to this date. Also, by all what I've read and tested so far, it's the only one that actually gets all the settings CORRECTLY. It's honestly mind blowing to me, how many self proclaimed "sim racing content creators" out there put out similar guides in the last couple of days, that are just completely off and not correct about what setting does what. TLDR: Thanks, best guide, can recommend!
After watching many of these videos and feeling like all of the setups I’ve tried are crap, I’m really hoping that what you’re saying about this one is true cus man I just need a good feeling setup so I can actually start playing the game 😂
And thats why we watch him. His car setup guides have been instrumental in teaching me to better understand motor racing and cut down lap times This guy is top notch
@@TimmyTheSnail i think you wont be disappointed - do yourself a favour though, and actually WATCH the entire thing and try to understand the concepts explained here. Don't just simply copy and paste his base settings. While they are a very good starting point, you can (and should!) still further adjust to your liking. The tools are very well explained here. For example, i decided to go with much higher mechanical trail than him, despite being on a belt wheel, just because i liked the heavier feeling result more.
It seems the same as Forza 7, in which case I'd recommend checking out Blue028's video on FM7 FFB where he gets real in detail on what each setting actually does. Unless they changed it for FM8, which is possible, the FFB scale does not scale all effects, only certain ones.
This was really helpful, thank you! Do you have any tips for when oversteering/drifting? I find it hard to not overcorrect or end up in "tank slappers". The counter steering feeling isn't quite right to me and wondering which settings would most effect this?
WE DO NOT DESERVE YOU. For real, though, this helped me a ton. Forza's descriptions of these adjustments are not clear at all and I'm pretty sure are mostly copy pasted from FM7 ("from the ground up" my ass). Keep up the amazing work!
Just used this guide to set up a G923. It feels really good. Cars communicate well through the wheel and you get a really good feeling of the limits of grip. I'll add this is my first wheel and pedal set up.
Did you make any adjustments in G-Hub? I just picked up the G923 and feel like I'm constantly on the edge of grip despite it not appearing that way. It's my first wheel, though, so I'm chalking it up to inexperience.
i found turning on traction control for gt cars is amazing also improving my braking and learning to trail break has helped alot to enter curves fast like w controller my g hub settings :50 sens 720 degree turning 20 center spring and torque 100 and sound 20@@Minerva___
Bro, these are the BEST settings so far I tried... I tried personnal settings and I wasn't happy with it, tried some I found on RU-vid, but yours, it's just "Perfect" ! Thanks mate
Thank you, I drive for a living and was feeling like I was a total fraud. I have a pretty basic Logitech wheel and the gear settings worked really nicely. This transformed the game for me, thanks again!
Oh man, tanks you for this. The FFB is so dialed in for me now. I've been sim racing for 3 years now, played em all from more sim-cade games like GT7 to full sims like iRacing and everything in between. This may sound crazy but I feel this is the best FFB I've experienced. Now before the pitchforks come im not claiming that Motosport has better FFB and physics than iRacing, but thanks to this guide my ol' TS-XW has never felt so perfectly connected with a virtual car. Hopefully I can use some if this new knowledge to get my settings just as dialed in with my other games. Edit: Just read some of the other comments and its seems like there are quite a few people with the TS-XW and they feel the same way, kinda interesting.
I've been needing something like this, actual explanations of what the settings are for! I noticed with my thrustmaster TX there was a horrible constant vibration when going perfectly straight when wheel damping was set to 100, dropped that down to 40 to cope but left the rest of the settings standard, going to get everything dialed in thanks to this video!!
Just discovered your channel with this video. Do you plan to make a tunning video for Forza Motorsport 2023? You seem to be very good explaining complicated stuff.
Well done. Thanks for the tips. I've been waiting for my CSL DD because I thought my G920 was just complete shit (which it still is) but it atleast feels better.
TY so much for this video. Been playing the past few days and everything felt so unnatural especially when braking into corners. This fixed every issue I had with my G29, it feels so responsive now
How are you using the g29? What adapter are you using? The one I have must not work very good because forza feels like it's from 2003 in comparison to gran turismo 7
On PC with T-TG II still not playable good settings that work even in another not Forza title but Motorsport is basically unplayable sadly on wheel. The menu control is not even possible like when you rewind and need to press A you either need to press A and a xbox controller that lays near by or Enter on the Keyboard. This game disappoints me in every aspect graphic settings dont getting saved (same for Controller and Steering wheel settings). Run barely 60fps with a well upgraded pc. Camera is 16:9 and not 21:9 in my case. Livery editor is basically a joke when you compare it to Forza Horizon 5 and so on. Still huge thanks for this in depth guide i learned many things how to set up the wheel even for other games now.
Ive tried everything to tune this in for my wheelbase, the game as far as I can tell never turn off steering assists completely, I can literally sit in the cockpit, drive the car without any manual steering input and the wheel will simply turn on its own when I get to a corner, its fucked
Thank you for not just saying "run this" but you gave us the way to adjust to our preferences with a good starter. Hats off to you good sir, great video and solid guide 👌🏻 as always...
Thank you! I am new to a direct drive wheel and was struggling to get the feel from my set-up that I wanted. Unless you understand what all of the settings mean, the descriptions provided are more confusing than enlightening. This was the best description of all of the setting I have ever seen. Again thank you!
Brother, big thanks for this video. I have been trying to find some that can actually explain what each setting does so I can find my perfect setting, and no one seemed to really know what each setting meant. AWESOME VIDEO!!! Just what I needed
So, I've got this game for free through gamepass and my buddy and I both just got Moza R5 wheels. We've tried out assetto, auto mobilista, etc. but find that the multiplayer aspect (having to choose a specific server to join) and the complexity and annoyance of having to constantly back out to change settings, adjust ffb, etc. is really frustrating. Ease of use is definitely on the low end, though the FFB is incredibly detailed and realistic. We've been spending most our time in Forza Horizon 5, simply for the ease of playing together, variety of surfaces/cars/race types, ease of adjusting settings, and so on. However, the FFB leaves a lot to be desired in comparison to Assetto. Obviously this is understandable because its more of an arcade, but I have felt for many years that Horizon needs to update its FFB engine. Anyway, I have thought about playing Forza Motorsport, because I am under the assumption that the FFB is at least slightly more realistic and ease of use in terms of playing together, changing settings, etc. is still there and far better than Assetto, but I have heard mixed reviews about the game itself. Is Forza Motorsport a bad experience, or are people just complaining because it wasnt necessarily all they were hoping for? Was it maybe bad at launch and since gotten better? I'm curious what you think is a good balance when it comes to ease of use for Novice sim racers and also detailed FFB. Thanks!
I wanted to say THANK YOU! I bought a wheel setup last year and was playing horizon and asetto and was struggling. I waited for Motorsports because I’ve grown up on it and thought I would have a better time. Initially it was good. I updated to your settings and now I am having a blast. The feel for the understeer has been a godsend and that is from your explanation. Very much looking forward to your tuning video so I can dial in more. Happy motoring!!!!
Thank you big time for your hard work, the effort you put into this video speaks for itself. I'm in my 60's and 5 years ago or so I purchased Fanatec V2 servo, V3 pedals, shifter and obutto rig, but never really took a deep dive into the settings. Haven't really used the rig in several years but with FM release I thought I give it another go. Right off the bat the handling was bad I tried a few things, probably made it worse, anyway your instructions and explanations have now allowed me to drive and race and it feels really good. One question is "how does steering sensitivity (on wheel ) affect the overall turning radius of the car? I've had it set at 750 but would like to know if it can be improved. Be safe and keep up the awesome work.
entry level wheels 300-400$ yeah not very entry level prices. Get one set and realize Forza Motorsport is broken game so your 400$ for the wheel were wasted
Dude I saw this video and applied it about 3 nights ago, let me just say thank you so much. The explanation is the key part of this video. Not just set these here and don't ask why lol You did it perfectly, explained what each are and the difference of gear/belt vs the setting it should take on a direct drive that offers more power. Had to come back and drop the like and comment. It's crazy how getting the FFB right I'm this game just changes how much better you can learn to push for faster times
I tried this but whenever I counter-steer the car seems to steer too much in the other direction and I seem to fight a snaking counter-steer. It just gets worse until I get a tank slapped on and spin out.
Sadly only the touring cars feel good with the settings, i tried days to get good settings for gt3 and street cars but it somehow always feel like shit(i think the physics are shit)
I tried other settings from another channel and the settings were nowhere near those ones! Just tried them on maple valley and this is a game changer! I can actually have a sensation from the track instead of only sounds. Thank you!
If I let go of the wheel I get crazy amounts of oscillation. The only setting that seems to stop this is “steering self alignment” but if I turn that down, I lose all weight to the wheel and feel for the car. Turned it down and turned up the “wheel damping scale” to try and bring the heavy feel back, but it made little difference with the first setting turned down so idk what to do. Any ideas?
Some cars had it for me and some didn’t but as you said slightly reducing self alignment and I found pneumatic trail too high might also cause. And adding slightly more damper helps stop oscillations. So doing a combination of those will prevent any one setting from being changed too much
Thank you for detailling what the settings do. This, together with a decent starting point, should get me started easily in a few days when the game goes into regular release! Can't help but cringe at all the people telling you to max out FFB scale and leave center spring on... like, come on.
Tbh I'm sick of this shit. I've never had to do this in any granturismo game . Not even asetto corsa required this much bs to play. And the fact thT I can't play at any rotation higher than 540 and God forbid you try to drift . Turn 10 needs to do better with the out the box wheel settings .
