We decided to change medical records, and that turned out to be a huge ordeal.
Broken promises, fired employee, some things are a huge downgrade and others a huge upgrade.

I super appreciate the video. We went from PF to Valant and it has been a disaster. I have heard AdvancedMD is pretty solid...not perfect...but pretty great. Thanks for the content!

I'm in a micropractice and I'm OK with Practice Fusion. It is married up to CollaborateMD. We have no biller. I do all that myself. There are no leakage points, I see to that. My prior biller left a lot on the table. Rather than paying 6%, and not getting every available dollar of revenue because the biller didn't chase it down, I average 0.5% billing costs per dollar of revenue. I do not allow patients to message me, or to make their own appointments. If they want to talk to me, they must make an appointment either in-person or telemedicine. Unless they are post-op in which case they get my cell phone. We are not primary care (we are ENT) so there are no annual physicals or the like and I rarely order labs. If I do, I write the order out manually on a form that I made. The idea of transitioning all the data from one EMR to another sounds completely horrifying to me. Same thing regarding going to a different billing software. Maybe it would have been better to eliminate the messaging function and go to manual appointing rather than the pain of changing vendors?

I'm happy to read about how successful your practice has been. PF can have it's great points for certain practices. My patient population is very tech savvy and want online appointments, and text or message capabilities. Without it, we would not have grown nearly as fast. We added spruce to help with messages, and although that helped a bit, the other downfalls of PF just lead it to it not been a good fit for us.

We almost signed on with them. There were a few things that lead us to not sign with them. 1. The rep ghosted us twice for our demo day 2. They were more expensive and offered less than our current EMR 3. It was way too many clicks. However, I debated using them and honestly I think I would have been happy with either EMR. It was my close runner up

What are your thoughts on MDland and EClinicalWorks? I'm starting a practice and would like to have everything in one EMR, especially accurate billing. P.S Ive been following you and your my main inspiration to go private FFS instead of DPC

I have not heard of MDland but ECW was my backup plan. I liked them, and sometimes I wonder if they would have been a better choice because more things seem to integrate with ECW compared to AdvancedMD. I don't think you can go wrong with ECW.

Another amazing video! I am shocked AdvancedMD cannot fully port your patient records from old EMR. So how did you handle it? Just manually type in the old notes? Scan them as PDF?

The bulk upload will upload the old chart as a PDF, that is it. That was a huge problem since we would be stuck with only PDFs that no one can see unless they open the chart and click on it. So, we told the labs to re-send us all the labs that they had since we started once our new medical record was up and running. That went right into the chart and solved the lab issue. Same with imaging. For everything else, we have the data saved in a cold storage in PDF format, and we have virtual assistants upload whatever we want on an "as needed" basis. We can message the virtual assistant to upload everything or specific things from old EMR and they take care of it. The cost we were quoted to do all this was > $20k, we came up with this solution.

@@InvestingDoc good to know it worked out. The hospital I was trained at lost lots of medical record during their transition (from Eclinical work to Cerner) also lost many of billing info along with it. I still remember how angry those doctors were. Anyway I guess it is what it is. It will never go smooth.
