Advantages of Computer Network:-
1. Easy Communication and speed:- It is very easy to communicate through Network. In Computer Network, the user can communicate through emails, voice calls, video conferencing, chat rooms and text messages and can share data and information with each other.
2. Sharing files, Data and Information:- Computer Network allows people to share their files, which help them with saving more time and effort. With the help of Computer Network, we can easily share any data & Information with other computer fast.
3.Sharing Hardware:- Users can share hardware devices such as printers, scanners, CD-ROM drives, hard drives etc. Without computer networks, device sharing is not possible. So, in this way a printer can be shared by multiple users in a networking environment. Networks enable users to share such equipment by networking and saves a lot of money.
4.Sharing Software:- Users can share software within the network easily. Due to which you do not need to install software again and again, nor do you need to make changes again and again.

Disadvantages of Computer Network:-
1. Lack of Independence:- The computer network is not completely independent. Because it depends on its main server i.e. centralised server. Therefore, individual users do not have the freedom to use the computer as per their wish.
2. Lack of data security and privacy:- The problem with computer networks is that there are network security concerns with them. Many individuals use computer network to share their files & information. Due to this, the security of the user is always at risk. Even there can be some illegal activities, about which we need to be careful and aware.
3. Expensive:- To establish a computer Network is not easy. Computer Network requires Server Computers, Workstation Computers and Networking Hardware & Software. Purchasing these can be expensive.
4. Lack of Robustness:- Connecting to the central server has drawbacks of its own. If the main central server of a computer network faces issues like a breakdown, then the whole system suffers.
5. Need an efficient handler:- Managing a large network is complicated. Trained manpower is required to manage networks. Anyone who has basic computer skills can not handle a computer network. network configuration, granting permissions & assigning password can be difficult.
6.Viruses and Malware:- If one computer in a network gets affected by a Virus, there is a possible threat for the other systems getting affected too. Viruses can spread on a network easily, because of the inter connectivity of workstations. Also, if the central server gets corrupted, it is quite dangerous as the network depends on the central server.
7. Hacking:- There is a danger of hacking, particularly with wide area networks.
