Great video. I am local-ish and have spent nany years riding amd backpacking nearly every inch of the Grandfather Ranger District trails and roads. This is one of the better LG videos. When youre in the area hit up Brown Mt Beach road (Wilson Creek) and Maple Sally Rd on Gaia, the same road is called Maple Grove Church road on Google-both are classified as FS187 officially. Edgemont road, Roseboro Rd, Globe Mt Rd, and Pineola Rd are the highlights of the section which lies east of hwy181 and west of hwy321. The Coffeys general store in mortimer is cool to visit on the weekends.
I definitely will keep that in mind! I’ve actively avoided some of those areas during hunting season just because you never know who you’ll ride up on.
Yup, my stomping grounds. Maple Grove Church Rd (maple sally rd, depending what map you are reading) is the most underrated road in the state imo. If you connect that road to Edgemont road, heading northbound, it is a total of almost 35 miles of uninterrupted dirt roads. The first 20miles (maple sally rd/Grove Church rd) is so curvy, and looks like a dry Ramen noodle. I call it the 'dirt dragon'- the gravel version of tail of the dragon imo. Careful though, almost every corner is blind, and on side of the road has a couple cliffs or steep drop offs that are really bad- if you go off there, no one will ever find you or the bike. There's lots of places to push the pace. Maple Sally northbound is one of those places though
