You have proven you don’t need big expensive boats to get around most places and have great adventures, it’s a versatile boat the catcher . Interesting to watch thanks again ..
Appreciate you tuning in for many of my adventures Paul! I actually really like the adventure of doing it in a small boat. I have some bigger trips planned this year as well, will really test the tinnys capabilities…
Stoked that you did a run through. I’d like you to add even more info to the occasional vid. Knowing location names, distances blah blah blah might be a pain but for a newbie like me it’s so damn helpful eh! But not to every vid, your style & edits are actually so relaxing. Great work Dan. Cheers. 🍻
Thanks mate. I’ll try my best to incorporate a bit more info into my vids. I don’t really like naming a lot of spots especially where I’m fishing/spearing but I’ll try to add some info! Stoked you’re enjoying the vids , thanks
I self taught on a pole spear many many years ago, which was kinda nice because I didn’t have any outside influence… just did it how it came naturally. And I never swam with the polespear loaded. I see all the guys swimming loaded and I know they are good so I suppose it makes sense. But I recommend giving my way a try. You simply load when you see the fish. I also like the one piece cheap fiberglass pole spears. I have no idea why but I got an aluminum 2 piece more recently for night dives and I hate it. I think because it’s a little too light; my hand can knock it way off line. You may have had this problem too. I didn’t have the problem with my fiberglass but I surmise with the light aluminum ones you gotta be sure you release, open the hand and make sure your hand doest hit the pole spear on its way to the target
great vid dan, yer definitely get yourself a 40hp merc 4 stroke, ive got a 2020 40hp merc on my 4.1 alley craft, cant fault it and gets up on the plane real quick.
Sick vid Dan! Learning to master the pole spear is a mission. I tried for ages and eventually just decided to stick to a speargun 😂. Hopefully I'll bump into you on the bay some time 🤙
Hey man, was thinking of getting a pole just to have as a muck around.. do you think after having the alloy one you’d recommend a fibreglass one instead? Bit more inertia!?
Definitely recommend getting a fibreglass one man, don’t even have to spend much extra coin, when I went into the shop they didn’t have any left that’s the only reason I grabbed the alloy. I reckon the alloy one I was using would be ok for hunting flatties in shallow but if you want to shoot fish with some force it’s not ideal 😆
Bro get a fiberglass hand spear. Them alloy ones don’t move under water. I used fiberglass hand spears the red ones hunting jewfish back in Red Rock nsw and Boambee nsw I regularly got 90-1.2 Jew fish They throw you around but line your shit and your sweet 🤙
That’s wicked mate, I agree that alloy one I was using was super slow through the water 😆 maybe good for flatties but that’s about it. I’ll get a glass one for next time
what's the go with that you can only spear on the western side Boyd's Bay Bridge? seems bloody odd as it's enclosed waters ? ps boats sick mate very similar to my set up tinny all ya need unless you like taking 20 pissed mates who won't chuck in for fuel and piss off when you get home 😂😂🤙🏻
