Turn on “Airplane” mode when your not using the phone for communication purposes, if it’s searching for service it KILLS the battery. Also “low power mode” I get 2 days from an iPhone using it for music and photos in the bush. Few hours if it’s searching for a cell tower it can’t find. And get a life proof case 👍

Hey Josh try turning the 4g roaming off in settings on your iPhone when out in the bush if it’s just 3G it’s enough for service and won’t be roaming all the time saves battery life. Cheers Lachie

Yep, but just go on flight mode. Navigate with downloaded maps on Gaia, AllTrails or similar app. GPS still works.

Mate your best bet with iPhones is to turn the thing into airplane mode and only turn on data when you need it. When you're out in the whop whops it will be trying harder to try and reach a beacon from a tower so it will use all the battery trying harder. If you put it into flight mode then just turn on 3G data and not LTE/4G mode it might help too.

Hi Josh, my husband has had more phones than I can count over the years because of dropping or drowning them. He bought a CAT phone last year, and it’s the first one to survive a full year since they did away with the old bricks. Certain things he doesn’t like, but that’s mainly because he couldn’t be bothered reading the user’s manual.

Yep ,live with only boat access to our home.got to love those not water proof phones.have been run down to cheap 100 buck ,slow ,random cut off things..as you get a tad pissed off spending 300 + on something that doesn't like getting fallen on chasing wild bullocks, smashed on rocks as you slip on the beach slime catching wild dogs,and the standard submersion....my solution is to buy my 14 year old girl two and use one( like right now ) for trade me ,etc emails... and carry a causality phone. Cause nothing can survive, one tiny good point is that the cheap ones are small!! And cheap to replace, never punch them ,just think of how long you you have to work in mud to pay for one.i custom make a crash case out of card and duck tape. remember silence is golden, but duck tape is silver.. regards from a daily sheep chaser..

I have taken my Samsung Galaxy note out camping all over the world. From super hot to -10 never fails me. Gorilla screen has never had a blemish on it even though I have dropped it many times. I would never buy apple again

You should get a bloody Samsung like I do ... Everyone in my e family has stupid iPhones but galaxy notes are definitely the go... Indestructible and waterproof too ... You can get a good one for $275 second hand reconditioned

Samsung phones are alot better than what iphones are in my opinion. The samsung s20 or s21 is a great phone with an awesome long lasting battery, also has a bloody good camera aswell. Higely recommend some of the new samsung phones out.

Anything other than a iPhone. Life proof case on a Samsung and turn on flight mode, searching eats power on all phs. Turn off BT if your not using it, screen brightness and cpu clock speed is another big power user. They can be toned right down and still use the camera

If you're only using your phone for communication, pick up an old Nokia 3310. Battery lasts for around 6-7 years and if you run outta ammo you can biff the damn thing. I heard a 3310 can take down a moose lol

Huawei - cheap, amazing cameras, a battery that lasts days without a charge. I have one of the cheaper models - $400 new. I went to Ruapehu on Friday - drove there, stayed at a mates batch (no power there, so didn't charge it), Videoed the next day's trip on it, switched it off overnight at the hut, filmed the next day's walkout, AND it still had enough power on Sunday to make calls on the way back to Auckland. I don't think it was even fully charged when I left Auckland. Only down-side is rubbish 'bluetooth' - so if you use that a lot it might not work for you.

Boost mobile has what you need they have indestructible phone it’s caveman style but it works. I dropped it in the lake through the ice to the bottom stayed thier all night and it was still ringing. No bullshit my man. Satalite phone by etec they would have something too. Great vids keep it up maybe I can come hunt that would be awsome maybe I’ll stay and live thier. Well it would be amazing to go thier amd hunt but that’s a lot of money that I don’t have. Make a giveaway hunt with you so I can win. I live like that to.
