Adventureland Iowa Tour & Review with The Legend 

Thanks for visiting my home park and letting the world see the place I spent my summers growing up!

Being in the water park and hearing the screams of people on the dragon warms my heart.

Former Des Moines/Altoona native here. The sheriff on the outlaw was a caricature of John Wayne with a mustache, who was born in Winterset, IA, about 45 minutes outside of Des Moinies. Actually the basis for the entire park's western theme.

It's nice seeing my home town staple on screen makes me happy I love Iowa😁

Adventureland is fun considering what else is in Iowa. I always get season passes.

Y’all may not like the rides at Adventureland, but this is the like Us Iowans living our best life during the summer. Also, the man for the outlaw that is a character of John Wayne, he stared in many western movies he was also he is from Winterset, Iowa witch is only about 30 minutes away from me

Good job, guys. Very fun video. Sawmill Splash actually out dates the water park by about a decade. I strongly recommend the water park, the circus, and the magic show in addition to things you guys showed.

I liked this park. Monster was great, I loved the beyond vertical drop and hangtime with just a lap bar

One of the few amusement parks that still looks like a park. Love all that green space and the fact that everything isn't packed together.

That mainstreet music is literally my childhood, I'm so happy I get to visit again in a week with my bestfriend and I'm so excited

I enjoyed this video. My first job (30 years ago!) was working in that pig you got the bacon on a stick from. When I worked there, that pig only sold popcorn and pop. Many things have changed since I was there - lots of the rides are the same, but many have changed or been replaced.

Grew up going to this park, best park everrrr. We used to call the animatronic in the underground scary jerry. Truly a hidden gem.

I've known about this park for a long time, but never seen a video of it exploring it like this! Adventureland looks absolutely beautiful and the food looks great!

Adventureland is the best for Iowans, we don’t get a whole lot of thrills or park options around here so what we have at Adventureland is the best for us.

The sawmill splash was built before the water park was even thought of and you used to get more wet but they had complaints from people because they couldn’t leave their stuff anywhere and they didn’t want their phones etc wet it was becoming a huge issue with rising cellphone usage . The tornado was the first rollercoaster at the park.. I love the mirror room we have taken so many selfies there. The falling star is my favorite sitting alone and not holding on you get so much air time. The monster snaps a picture right at the drop in the beginning of the ride. That ride the splashover is in a “cursed” spot lol when I worked there as a teen there was another ride there called the mixer that would break down while people were upside down 😳 they replaced the part multiple times before the final time the metal piece flew off and almost hit the teacups! They then decided it would be cheaper to replace it but this ride has the same issues..

This is the best place In Iowa you guys may not like it as much as us but we love it 💕

This is a really fun, small park. I hit it on my Midwest tour this year.

Tornado was actually a decent ride in the front seat. The further back you get the tougher it is. Monster’s best element is the loop after the drop, front row outer left really whips you around!

I was here last week. I thought the food was surprisingly good, varied, and inexpensive. The Underground does, as you say, seem more like a dark ride. In fact, unlike similar rides like Black Diamond or Devil’s Den, which have gravity-driven drops, there is no drop in this ride at all. When I got off the skyride I walked briskly, as I’m used to these, but then they shouted at me that I have to run! Lol. Finally, Monster to me only seemed marginally better than similar rides, so a bit overhyped. However, the key is to marathon it at night when it’s all lit up - that elevated the ride to great for me.

Been going to this park since my earliest memories (I'm 44 yrs. old). Tornado is a legend to me. Fun coaster, nothing special but fun). Underground...lame as hell. They used to have a great water show there. Anybody else remember that?? Dragon...will NEVER ride that again. Jerky as hell. I love coasters but not the ones that throw you around abusively.

The water rapids ride was built before the water park was put in FYI 🙂😂

The key to getting wet on Sawmill splash is making sure you're with a group of at least 6. You pick up speed and get drenched. Quick way to cool off without going to the waterpark!

Dude the dragon is a fantastic ride

Please consider coming back to this park and giving it another shot. It's got new owners (same people that own kennywood), new rides, and overall an updated vibe!

Oh man this vlog has made me desperately want to visit this park more than any other. The Oktoberfest boot refills alone would be worth the flight out from LAX. I mean any park that serves Salvator on draft is a top park in my book. This got me laughing so many times, between the Judge Judy on TV to the Monster frozen mixed drinks and RCT Pig house Bacon on a Stick stand, this place looks absolutely magnificent.

I bought a season pass this year. Perfect for me and my 5 year old - 2020 season $140 each for the water park and amusement park and free parking. The water park, which they didn't show on the video, is excellent too. For Iowa this is a pretty nice park. The Underground and the Falling Star are the best rides if you are under 48". A great starter park for kids too.

Tornado is old but a staple for us iowans who have lived here all our lives. I rode the tornado when i was very young, and it brings those memories if just pure fun.. maybe lame to most, but ill keep it over other rides any day..

Here’s some cool facts about Adventureland! I go almost every year for my birthday! ---------------------- -The brand new Monster rollercoaster replaced analog ride which was my favorite ride to go on 😥 - The wave pool is the biggest Wave Pool in Iowa - There once was a fire downtown in the park - The Tornado is was the first rollercoaster build - Each trollies that take you from the hotel, campsite, and other places around the park all have names! - The hotel recently added and arcade to it and it is so fun! Here’s a good rant about my experience at adventure land. ----------------------- I first went to adventureland I was 5 years old. On my 11th birthday I didn’t go :( Now Im going to be 12 in July and I might go again. But with one of my best friends and his siblings. I don’t usually get super excited about things but for some reason Adventure land has got me hyped!!!! It’s only January tho :( Also, the water park is so awesome too! 20 water slides, huge lazy river, Kokomo cove is also so amazing! It have at least 8 slides in a small area! IM SO EXCITED TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Living in Iowa, this park is my childhood. The Tornado has been there since I remember and hasn’t changed at all. The Dragon is no longer there.

HANSON IS MY FAVORITE BAND😍♥️- SINCE 1997! And yes, Hanson has a beer called “MMMHops” lol. I have seen Hanson 35x. I’m going to be seeing them in November. Also Hanson played here yesterday in back of the Ferris wheel!

The outlaw will always have a special place in my heart, even if I hate it to death, it is where my father proposed to my mother. Love the ride and hate it at the same time.

Went to the ice cream place on Main Street on the way out around closing time.....our family ordered 1 ice cream cone. The employees were going CRAZY, stacking like 3/4 gallon of ice cream balanced on the cone. It took my family of 3 about 30 minutes of constant eating to finish it. It was hilarious. Not sure if the Blue Bunny ice cream serving size is consistently ridiculously big or just a one time thing because of closing time.

Iowa Native, I spent a day every summer here. the G-force in the arcade used to be outside by the bumber cars, the underground rides.

Was there last weekend for the first time. It was so damn cool...and LOVED the lack of big corporate for food. Very neat, does have a spooky neverland feel to the front but considering the origins. Loved this park even though it was 100 that day

My grandpa works here. I dont talk to him anymore but i remember entering our car to see the theater animatronic, dubbed, bob the butthead in it.

You are great and made 2 of my trips the first video I saw was when we were going to Kalahari we were gonna do mount Olympis but we decided to go to Kalahari after watching your video now we are going to Adventureland too can’t wait to go

Yeah but the Tornado is a wooden roller coaster. It's nostalgia guys. My mom lover the ride back when I was a very little kid and she was a roller coaster enthusiast back then. Yeah I never liked ham balls and I've lived here in Iowa most of my life

Depending on the conditions I've greyed/blacked out on the dragon in the loops. Also a ton of weird things about this park. Many of the games areas around Tornado and Dragon are from a different park in the downtown Dsm area. The Dragon Station used to be a haunted house with the mirrors being apart of that same park. It may not be the best park but works for us Iowans. Its a great go to in the summer and family centered and centrally located. Also the Disney feel want just taken from Disney, Disney actually helped design the entrance and main street with them.

I havent been to this park in nearly 20 years. nice to see not much has changed =P

Adventureland had the Saw Mill Splash, 4:53, before the waterpark.

The Splash Over was closed for good when this video was shot. They are taking the ride out of the park. This ride has always sucked. Also, they're putting in a new steel coaster for 2019! It's gonna be a Maurer spinning family coaster. I'm excited!

As I recall you can see downtown Des Moines and it is beautiful

I miss this place, they give the best whiplash, quick and easy, painful but short.

I thought Outlaw was really good, definitely under rated. I enjoyed Tornado too, and rode it a few times. Dragon was terrible, probably the worst steel coaster ever, and I'd rather ride Anaconda. I was really let down by Underground. How do you guys eat/drink all that sugar and junk food. Blah. And that beer is expensive. At the end you asked the guy what he thought about the park but kept interrupting him when he tried to answer.

That tunnel used to be ivy covered. I imagine it had to be regrown due to The Monster

I heard while working there that the dinosaurs are there because of the barb wire fences around the ride, making it look like Jurassic Park. Imo it's ehhhh not that good lol.
