cecil, o lying one, it's a matter of well documented european history that the region was under british rule from around 1920 and that it was called Palestine with only small pockets of jews living there. In 1947 United nations started looking at letting jews go there in large numbers and a split plan for palestine and the name of Israel was being used again. Prior to the british it was part of the ottoman empire. Not Israel then either. You can say it was always israel in some entitlement sense but by defacto naming it was not. The jews were a little fuzzy on the whole partition thing and there were some persecution and atrocities committed. Continues to this day. They are ok with concentration camps persecution and mass murder as long as its themselves doing it. The irony is somewhat lost. The whole Jesus thing is also a little hush hush :)

Their language and how it differs from neighbouring Arabic, a colonial language? Their national anthem perhaps? How about a flag of ancient palestine? One from 200 years ago? 500 years ago?
