Thank you. You certainly make that look easy! I was curious if it would be advantageous to center the knitting when putting back on the bed? My understanding for things like patterning on a punchcard machine is it works from the center of the bed? I guess maybe electronics can work from the edges, maybe?
The pattern on a punch card machine repeats in blocks across the bed. My bulky, for example, repeats every 12 stitches. When you decrease, you change the number of stitches, so you would no longer have a multiple of 12, and the pattern would be out of synch even if you lined it up properly. There are some tricks you could do, but it would be a lot of work. If you were using an electronically controlled machine, you would need to put the stitches back at whatever location the pattern was expecting, which could be the middle or the edge, depending on the pattern.
I'm wondering if it would be faster to use a straight, stiff, stainless steel wire (as used in shaping knitting) instead of a garter bar, after the transfers? It would save having to skip over the empty places on the garter bar, since the stitches are all together on the wire. Thanks, again, for sharing your expertise.
Just out of curiosity is there a way to use the garter bar on the ribber? Just thinking in terms circular knitting rather than flat knitting. I love these videos and learning new skills with my machine.
