I am amazed at the facility of the early bands, especially with the recordings enhanced by Doug Miller. I have wondered at the resources, demanded to move the early bands. Normal school system does not have the budget to do this, so we realize the support of the community and sponsors to be able to develop this band. I so enjoyed hearing again the lovely tones of Mattie Menefee who so inspired me as an upper classmate in the band. I can’t imagine the stress of WWII and dealing with Polio for the first time.
