You are by far the best resource for moving to Mauritius. Thank you so very much for all your work! I am visiting your island in 2 weeks to see if we will move there. Again, thanks!!!
I’ve bought and sold many cars in Aus and UK, it was a breeze. However, I’m local and having to watch your video cause buying a car here, esp second hand, is a real headache. You make it sound very easy and straight forward though 👍 but it doesn’t change the fact that the island is still very backwards. Another example would be banking in Mtius. Another pain in * process 😫 Thanks for the info ❤️
I've seen one of these Jimnys in London recently and it was fully kitted out in Mercedes G Wagon style. There are lots of upgrades available for these little off roaders.
My wife & i watch your vids & we reckon a Jimny is the PERFECT car for you! 👌 🥰 + Jimnys are soopa kewel 😁 Tx for all the helpful tips regarding purchasing a vehicle 🙏
@@LucyLeheilleix yeah but she's a tuff sassy little bull-pup 4x4 💪🙌, Just FYI ...seen guys asking here re charging stations for electric vehicles...just saw a vid showing that Pwc has one in their building
Well you buy the car and take out insurance (like quantum). Then go to the post office with your insurance letter (and proof) take your piece of paper with engine details and pay your road tax. You are given a round disk which you then put on your car windscreen with your Insurance disk.
Is it advisable for one who just moved to Mauritius to buy a car and how easy to own one as a foreigner?? Moving soon I just want to know has it one of my bucket list when I visit
Hi Lucy just one quick question, Is it easy to import car from Uk or South Africa or Japan, or better to forget it due to administrative issue and slow process ? or did you to recommend to buy locally ? One additional question, is it possible to ask car vendor in case of brand new car for the company dealer to manage all administrative paper?
Hi JC. Honestly I’d avoid importing a car as it could land up being very expensive. Best to buy one directly on the island. If you buy new, the dealer will of course handle all paperwork. Hi Lucy, Thanks for your great videos, always love watching them. We go frequently to Mauritius and I was thinking to buy a car instead of renting. Do you know if a foreigner can buy a car without a local address? And only international drivers license. We usually only rent for a couple of weeks or months an apartment while we are there. Thanks for your help Chris
Hi Chris. I guess it depends how long you intend to stay here for? You mentioned months? Then it may be worth while…International drivers is fine, but you will likely need a local address. Where you are staying should be ok. You could ask a dealer while you’re here. The problem is the road tax and insurance. I reckon renting is easier if you’re here for under 6 months.
Thanks Lucy for the answer. I also checked it a bit. Since we are quite often in Mauritius for a couple of months I thought it might be cheaper to buy a car and just keep it. It seems that road tax can be paid on a monthly case and insurance can also be paused while I am not here. So seems to be way cheaper than renting for 2 months every year in the next years. Let’s see how it goes. Haven’t totally figured out if I need a premium visa to get insurance or if an Mauritian address is enough. Let’s see… 🏝😃👍👍
Hello Lucy , one question about horse power ticket on Mauritius. More HP more pollution, how this rule can be applied for full electrical cars like Tesla or Hyundai etc.. ? They have a lot of HP but 0 pollution and usage of petrol
Thanks Lucy, very informative as always… that particular Jimny has been in my list, we have to wait up to 1 year here 😅😅 Have you ever made a video similar to this but on accommodation? (for long stay of course 3-4 years) where and how are the best way to find accommodations, process and procedures, as well as fees that might occur…. Thank you Lucy, looking forward your next video best David
Hi there! Thanks for watching. You might find this video useful: A GUIDE to BUYING AND RENTING Property in MAURITIUS ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BnBRHIizKw8.html Fees vary and there are some interesting PDS schemes now that aren’t as expensive as they used to be.
You know in Los Angeles l own an i8 and I might come to live in Mauritius maybe for a decade or more and then go back but I want to make sure that my lifestyle remains mostly the same... just asking
Hi. You can definitely buy an i8 or equivalent in Mauritius. Official dealer of BMWs is Leal & Co.Ltd in Mauritius, in Pailles not far from the Moka Motorcity
There's a few here and there but they are rare. I have seen at least 4 Teslas in Mauritius and know 2 of the owners have invested in solar charging systems where they live. Mauritius is such that you will have enough range in a day to go and return home to charge your Tesla.
Hi Lucy. A question off topic of the video, but do you know whether property monthly rental is generally negotiable, or is the amount you see on sites like Lexpress non-negotiable with agents or owners? Love your channel. My family and I are moving to Mauritius Jan 2023.
Hi! No mention of Renault? I’m due to relocate around July and a Renault Duster seems a good choice. Any feedback on reliability, service etc. on them would be appreciated.
Hi Rod. Renault dusters are fairly popular here, although, as I mentioned in the video, Toyota, Suzuki, Mazda, Honda are better bets as parts are easily found. Suzuki swift is very popular as are the 4x4 utility vehicles. Peugeot and Renault dealers are found in Moka. r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=AwrJ7J7xYW5ipRoAxiJx.9w4;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzEEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny/RV=2/RE=1651430002/RO=10/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.axess.mu%2fpeugeot%2f/RK=2/RS=wcBWREwIGPHbkXVOietOJaetGJw- Renault: r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=AwrE188WYm5iVzQAlJBx.9w4;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzEEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny/RV=2/RE=1651430038/RO=10/RU=http%3a%2f%2fwww.renault.mu%2f/RK=2/RS=wsD.DZncCVWNIWt3lIrGuK7677g-
@@LucyLeheilleix many thanks, gives me reason to double check 😊. The Duster is high, big boot (collecting visitors and luggage/taking all sorts to the beach), well priced and incredible fuel consumption, so ticks lots of boxes for the sole car to go with my scooter. I drive a Pajero in S.A., so well understand the attraction of the Jimny, just a bit small 😊. Thanks again, appreciate the response and the vlog!
@@LucyLeheilleix Hi Lucy, it is tempting; I visited the dealer; they have 2 charging stations and you get a portable charger (17h) and a wired up charging station at your home (7 h). Decisions, decisions :).
I know someone who has an electric BMW which they charge in their garage at home. Do you know where the charging stations are? Would be awesome if there were incentives here to buy electric….maybe one day 🤔
@@LucyLeheilleix Nissan is advertising their Leaf. I did see some chargers around but they are well hidden! I visited in 2019, and saw some at the La Belise marina i think.
Yep they are available: www.bmw.mu/content/dam/bmw/marketB4R1/bmw_mu/topics/offers-and-services/pricelist/pdf/1019/BMW_Pricelist_MU_i8_10_19.pdf.asset.1571061569520.pdf
Hi Wayne, Honestly, it is best to buy here. Far less complicated, unless you are totally in love with your car and can’t live without it. Some info here: mhhinternational.com/blog/how-to-import-a-car-to-mauritius/ I personally don’t know anyone who has done this. Everyone I know here has bought a car on the island with no issues. Have a great weekend.
Hi Spen. Have you had a look at the edb website? All visas and info pertaining to them are listed on there. If you feel you need more info or guidance, you’re welcome to email me: lucyleheilleix@gmail.com
@@LucyLeheilleix Hi. Been to the edb website. Don't find it very user friendly (especially the mobile phone version). What is the link from the website that contains info on visas? Thanks
Hello Lucy, just wanted to know that if we want to sell the car, is that possible or should we wait for 4-5 years after the date of purchase from agency?? Thanks lot for replying.🙏🙏🙏
