This video contains a ton of advice for any Christian in or soon to be entering college. I cover everything from intentionally making friends, to finding a church, to staying in the Word as a college student. There is still so much more I have to learn but these are the things God has put on my heart to share with you all! What has been your experience like in college so far? If you are in high school, what are some questions you have for me?
Let me know if there's another related topic you'd like me to speak on!
Christ be magnified,
Kendra

it is amazing how a person with Jesus is enlightening. Today I was panicking because I felt like I was pulling myself away from God, and I'm in the senior year in high school. I literally searched on RU-vid "Christian students" because I really needed inspiration and somebody to look at and say "hey, she is Christian in college and is changing her surroundings". Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you so much for this. I'm definitely concerned about focusing too much on the fun stuff (hanging out with friends, campus events, etc) that I'm going to forget who I'm living for. I definitely should have considered looking for a Christian roomate! I would appreciate any prayers!

I have this contact who is about to fail calculus 2 for the second time. According to the rules of my university, if you fail a required class twice you may get kicked out! I hope to share the love and compassion of God to this contact, so he gets hope as he is quite likely to get kicked out. Please pray for this relationship!

Hi Kendra! Thank you so much for your video and perspective! I will be a Butler Freshman in the fall and I really want to seek a more independent faith that requires me to put God above my ambitions! Both your college and faith tips are very relatable, and I appreciate the time you put into giving advice with a foundation in Christ!

Kendra, May the good Lord bless you in Jesus Christ name, Amen I came across your RU-vid channel this evening- less than 24 hours before I send my 18 year old son off to a secular/public college. My concern about his faith (he will be 7 hours away from home, two states away) that led me here by the grace of God. Thank you for sharing. I am very grateful and I will share this video with him. Blessings to you

God bless you, Kendra! I joined a University as a transfer international student. I was hesitant whether to join a college church group or not. As you said the first semester of your college time is the most crucial time. It’s a time that you lay your college foundation all the way up to your graduation. I want to ask if you can do a video on how your daily college life looks like? I mean when do you wake up, read and pray. How do you balance all of the school work and Christian life. Also, you may want to socialize with people too. What advice do you have for students who struggle to balance the time spent for school and christian duties? Thank you again. These little video that you are making are blessings and impactful.

Hi! Jesus says that we will "reap what we sow," and also to steward the gifts and abilities we have been given well - meaning it is a good thing to work hard in school for his glory and to serve God with our time and efforts. But, when it comes to outcomes and results, Jesus does not want us to be fearful or anxious about the future! This month I'm reading through Matthew 5-10 and there's a ton a great scripture even in those few chapters that I'll share. Matthew 6:25 - 27: "25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Jesus actually commands us not to worry (not just suggests) - which is obviously not an easy thing to do! But he supports this command with showing us the love that God has for even the birds - emphasizing that God has his hand on every detail of our lives and that He will bring about what is ultimately good in our lives (even if at the time it does not seem good from our limited human perspective!) I also love this passage because Jesus not only tells us why we shouldn't worry, but goes on to say what we should do instead of worrying: "But seek first his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." This doesn't mean 'don't worry about school, trust God, and you will get good grades' - but Jesus IS saying that when we put our hope + trust in God above anything else in this world, that God will ultimately bless and provide for his children. In the long run, we are studying to get a degree so that we can get a good job so that we can provide for ourselves and our families down the road (which is not a bad thing)! But, if you can zoom out your perspective a little bit - your tests are just a small component of a much larger journey that is life. And God promises to ultimately provide for us (just like he does for even the animals) when we trust Him with our lives and our future. Ultimately that is why Jesus says not to worry about our lives. So my attitude going into schoolwork (and now more so job interviews/applications) is that I combat anxiety about fear of the future by remembering 1. Wherever I end up, God promises to provide for me if I keep him top priority in my life and 2. My grades/career path might not go exactly how I envision, but whatever doors God sends me through is exactly where I'm supposed to be. And if I am using the abilities God has given me for His glory - I don't have to worry about where I'll end up. This feeling of surrender is the most freeing feeling as a college student! It's really easy to get caught up in the stress that literally EVERYONE around you is consumed by. College is a breeding ground for putting all hope in our present realities rather than putting hope in future promises! But If you trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then the Holy Spirit can teach you how to think and live differently than the rest of your peers on campus. I went really big picture here but I think it helps get to the root of anxiety about tests/the daily challenges of life. This scripture is not something just to remember right before a test to try and force yourself into not worrying - it is something you can study and mediate on, and on which you can ask the Holy Spirit to change your entire lens through which you view the challenges in life - and slowly your heart will come to process things like tests and job interviews and all those things differently - according to how Jesus wants us to view them! Some other scripture in Matthew that's great to also read through is Matthew 7: 9 -11, Matthew 10: 29 - 30. God knows the very number of hairs on your head! So that means he also knows exactly how difficult and overwhelming schoolwork can be. And He could be using this trial of school to grow you and to teach you how to heap any anxiety onto Him! He wants to take that burden instead of you carrying it. So work diligently, spend your time wisely to prepare well, but not in a spirit of fear but rather in a spirit of wanting to serve God through schoolwork and ultimately not worrying about the results because God will "give good gifts to those who ask him" and ultimately provide! Thank you for your question - like I said all this scripture I have been reading through this month so it was perfect timing for you to ask!
