I'm officially now a junior and so far I have regretted not doing extra curriculares edit: IM A SENIOR!! I have joined a lot more stuff and to be honest I'm much happier then I was when I wrote this comment! I wish you all underclassmen or seniors the best!!! 💗💗
rm.journaling if you’re going to start extracurriculars, try and do something where you can have leadership. Also, you may not realize this but a lot of things count as extracurriculars (babysitting siblings, working, etc) source: Incoming college freshman
Nex Be yourself and don’t worry about “fitting in.” Joining sports or clubs are a great way to meet new people that may become your friends and plus you can add it to your high school resume. I recommend making a to do list with every assignment/homework or test you have along with the due dates, it has helped me a lot so far because I forget sometimes lol. If you join clubs or extracurriculars make sure that you don’t overwhelm yourself. And if you have any questions feel free to ask them!
Nex be yourself! Just know the little things that bother you in the back of your mind you will get better! Be friends with positive and happy people and study hard! Remember to take breaks as well.
Hello class of 2023!! We are finally upperclassman!!! I know COVID has kind of messed up our high school experience so far, but I’m hopeful for this new year!!
It’s okay to feel weird. It always will feel odd doing something new. I started doing sports my junior year, I’m glad to have at least had the experience before COVID-19. One saying that I found reassuring is :”The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”
It's not weird at all! I'm on my schools cross country team, and we've had a few people join in their junior year, i doubt anyone will really care lol but if you want to try something see if you can find a friend to do it with you, or ask someone in the group about it
Same tbh I was forced to joined cheer by ex best friend but I never done any football games but I do color guard which also gives me more community service hours but I don’t think I never receive them :(
I've never allowed myself to come out of my comfort zone, like never joining clubs or stuff so Junior year is something that ive been anxious about (especially since it's online for me now and now I gotta deal with looking at my face through a camera and actually talk to my counselor for the first time ever since I have no friends to tell me how to do things since I'm highkey kinda dumb) so this helped me feel at ease a little more 👁👁
I wish I could have heard this last year. After the summer break, I will be a senior 😭 It's hard for me to come to terms with that since I'm doing summer homework still and it feels like I just started high school a minute ago.
Hello class of 2025! We are officially now upperclassmen. Now we can prepare for college and stuff and take the standardized testing. Edit: I’m already thinking about prepping for college and yes I’m going to be really busy for junior year and senior year.
I can't agree more (your advices)! *I literally wasted half of my high school life doing nothing* Also me graduating (this year!) Nice jobbb Jasmine 🤙🏻 and good luck juniors!
i’m so stressed about junior year it’s killing me- i already have diagnosed depression so i feel like all this pressure is too much on me- i am taking 2 ap classes and 2 ce (ive also already took multiple honors and some ce)- im sososos stressed about the tests (act, ap tests etc)- i also don’t have a lot of extracurriculars right now (i did orchestra for like 5 years and i did choir for a year) but now my only extracurriculars would be art because im planning on being an art major- still super stressed
getting credits early can also be a bad idea because you can forget what you need to know when the information is needed in future years of university :) so i suggest either waiting ORR having a study set prepared for refreshers when the information comes up y'all
I’m in the second half of my junior year and my grades have never been worst..it sucks 😭 dealing with the pandemic, depression, Ed’s, death in the family and all
i just started watching this video because its a new jasmine video, but midway through i realized "holy shit, school is over, im not a sophomore anymore...this video is for me"
I am going to be a Junior and I'm scared. I hear that Junior year it is a hard year. Time flies. I feel like middle school was just yesterday. But it's ok because we got this class of 2022.
Ap history, Ap English, volunteering, doing cheerleading again and volleyball probably ,getting As and Bs and 3.6-and higher gpas, just everything (Sry ik u didnt ask for all that..just very nervous)
Good luck! Rough for you to start high school online, but it isn’t too bad. I will say, if you coasted in 7th and 8th grade like me, then I urge you to figure out how to manage your time better and build good study habits. I never had to study in my middle school years, but even though I didn’t really HAVE to study to get a decent grade, getting As and A+s will take more work than you’re used to.
I just discovered your channel today and I'm so glad I did. I'm about to start my second to last year of high school, and after two years of doing just average in school, I'm thinking I really need to get my game on. I regret not trying harder before now, but it seems like your tips will be a good guide to getting on the right track. Besides that, your voice is calming and you speak so eloquently, which makes it even more of a pleasure to listen to all your super helpful advice. Thank you for sharing the knowledge!!
genuinely very very very very very helpful and I hope you could also do a video about majors.. because that's really something I struggle to decide since it's a big decision to make (I mean the 4+ years is a big part of our youth life)
I will be a senior in the fall but because of where I'm applying my application process starts June next year so basically when the now juniors will be applying so this is really helpful. Thank you for the amazing content
I start school in a week as a junior. My schedule is so hard and I can't believe that high school is already halfway over. I'm working a job and I have a ton of dual credit classes. I am literally panicking right now. It is so weird to be a junior.
I’m going into junior year and I’m so nervous, even though my parents are only allowing me to take 1 AP per year. I have 3 large extracurricular activities and I’m always busy. College apps terrify me because I doubt any will want me. So, thank you for this!
I'm about to be a junior (in literally a few months) and I'm not as excited as I was because of covid-19, and as a sophomore I was struggling doing work online 😭😭
i think this might be the first time I'm ever so early to comment.. love you and your videos so much! they've helped me quite a lot during my school and uni years
“If there is one thing you learn from this video let this be it, the seventh skill is...”-an ad that won’t start because of the bad wifi... Also love your videos they are very inspirational.
Hi! Im going to to be a junior next year and I'm super anxious and paranoid about it. I'm hoping that I get join a JROTC as a extra circular but my school does not provide those unfortunately. I want to join the marines when I graduate and I think one would help me. I really don't know what I should do? The recruiters are coming in to talk to us next year and i'm worried I won't be motivated anymore by then. I love the video and it helped me on so many other parts but I fear this one is gonna be a constant struggle!
I suggest finding local military related groups. I dont know if its the same for you but I live in a city and there's lots of opportunities for minors who wants to be in the military like recreational centers, U.S Army Junior JROTC is a website that can find all the highschools that has jrotc. Or, you can ask your counselor / principal.
In Australia we don’t have “ junior year “. Our juniors are grade 7-9 and our seniors are grade 10-12 because our high school starts at grade 7. But this was still pretty helpful
Aw darn, I'm becoming a senior. Anyone who is class 2021 who's bummed about being too old for the video to help, me too. BUT on the upside we're graduating this upcoming school year! . . . . . . . Honestly I'm more stressed thinking about college to be happy about graduating lmao
i wish i found this video last year :( i’m a rising senior and i wish someone told me the importance of ec’s because now idk what to write on my college apps
Hey Jasmine!! I love your videos so much! I was wondering why this video wasn't targeted towards the class of 2021 which will be applying to college next year!
Yeah, my last two years I've been in classes I didn't want to be in because i was too shy to ask to change classes and i would feel bad going to my teacher to tell them im leaving.... Hopefully this year they'll actually put me in a class I want... (I've been in Child Development since freshman year...)
don't worry! junior year is not as bad as everyone says. It is actually no where near as intense as senior year, so don't be scared now, relax, explore your interests, and enjoy.
Something else I recommend: once a month, sit down and write a story! Throughout high school, you often don’t get a chance to write a narrative story, which makes it SO much harder to write college applications. Practicing throughout your junior will allow you to find a unique voice that will make your essay stand out. From: an incoming freshman at Cornell :)
