Dan, this is a lovely video. I am transitioning into data and so many “become a data analyst” videos are very overwhelming and make me feel as though I will never be able to get a job unless I have been coding in python for 5 years. Your demeanor and humility are very refreshing. Thank you.
I completed 1 of 8 Certificates with Google. I know that once I'm done. I would need to build portfolio. I wonder how is the applying and getting a real interview process is really like.
If you are taking the Google Data Analytics Course, the last section goes through the process of building a portfolio and applying for jobs. I found that section the most helpful for what you are looking for!

Thank you! I’d say do a a few projects that encompass each of these skills and then focus on developing one of these at a time. These are all great skills to have so you can’t go wrong really on which one you focus on first. I usually suggest Excel as the first, just because being efficient in this skills translates to a lot of data jobs and other similar fields since it’s a common tool. That’s great to hear! I’d say focus on SQL for now since that’s what you are currently on and focus on completing a couple of projects. Start with the easy techniques and build off of it as you learn more. After that I’d say the best one to focus on is Excel since it is a skill that can be used in a wide range of data jobs. I gained insight too, very inspiring. I am a beginner in the field of data analytics and I started off with excel. And just like Dan suggested in this video, cleaning, organizing and prepping data are what I am on currently.... and yet exploring the entire field of data analytics.
