Attack On Titan did so good at feeding u information. Not so much, not less. Every mistery and every revelation is done well in my opinion. It's one of the things that just wants you to keep watching it. Could you possibly analyze and study how to execute information or worldbuilding well in your story? Like why is it so rewarding to finally know that some titans are humans? When it should've been predictable since they looked like human?
Notes: 1:36 There is no perfect draft. It doesn't need to be coherent even 3:57 Be flexible with your outline. It's project prep, not the project itself. Get to the writing part as soon as you can and let new ideas change your plan 6:23 Start before you're ready! You don't need every detail figured out to simply start 8:14 Decide the narrative perspective early on; choose your narrator and POV and stick with it 10:30 Know why you're telling your story 13:45 Give enough backstory
I have a massive story that I've kinda cut into chunks. The chunks are very separate, imagined into different series, but tied up in one universe. Many of my unconnected stories can be tied in with a small scene, too. I'm having some trouble finding what side to start with 😅
aw i get that, i have a huge project like that as well that i keep coming back to. it takes a lot of mental work and sometimes some distance to see it more clearly
@@theplottery I've concluded that I'd be proud of myself if I could write it and start editing by the time I'm in my fifties! (I'm currently in my twenties.) 😅
@@anamazing2297 oh no, im sure that’s just our lovely brains making us feel more overwhelmed than necessary. Sometimes its as simple as starting and building moment. Just make a choice and start there, that will be the most difficult part
Only recently you started posting in youtube again and i'm invested in your videos, they are helping me highligh my rules and principles in the whole writing process, especially since i'm a new writer. I kid you not the moment you mentionned the purpose i immediately thought of attack on titan so please make a video of it (Talking about he purpose of a story with AOT as an example) i have recently set this anime as a model for story structure and originality approach. I'm glad i found that you like it too, you know as someone whom i take advice from? i would love to know you got good taste, lol. Good luck with all that you've got to do! Keep going!
@@W_for_Writing hah that’s awesome that you thought of it before i mentioned it! It really blew my mind when i finished it, i dont think anything I’ve watched before has made me feel this way afterwards, but it really is done masterfully
I love backstory. I probably spend more time writing backstory than I do the story I'm trying to tell. I had a character who was a descendant of the founders of the town the story took place in, so naturally I went back to 1672 or so to understand how and why the ancestor came to the US and founded the town. I think what it is I really like is the research. This is a story set in a small New England town and founded by a man and woman who fled England when the woman, his mistress, was accused of witchcraft by his wife. Some day I might actually write the story, which takes place in the present (not 1672).
just to add this in case it helps someone, in regards to changing perspective and haveing to rewrite your draft, ai, im thinking chatgpt specifically, is really good at doing that. Maybe some specific instructions should be added and it might not be able to carry the tone properly when shifting but for getting the bulk of the editing out of the way its a god send
