Excellent video and spot on. I’ve been a chef for 32 years and love working with these young chefs, i learn from each one and value their drive and passion. Too often they are prepped even by their schools that they will be an executive chef right out of school. Be patient and do all you can to gain as much experience with many chefs and you will be there soon enough. Great video!

Hello Chef, I am 30 and i love to cook, always had a dream to study in culinary school, but couldn’t afford it, after working as a civil engg for 2 years{ oh yes i have civil engg degree}, teaching for 3 years, now i can afford a culinary school in Canada. Now i do understand that to work in kitchen love for food is not enough, you have to have passion for it, how would i know i have passion? I know industry is very hard and low wages, yet i want to do it. Some people told me to work in Kitchen for a while, which i cant do now because of Covid. Cant i take leap of faith? i dont know much about kitchen but i can work standing for hours and really love food. Can’t i join school and work part time and get ready in two years for full time kitchen to work after completion of my diploma? I have been doing research for a while and no one write any positives of cooking in kitchen, Is it so bad? Are wages so low that one can’t afford basic needs and live a humble life? I never had big dreams in sense of money, just thought will make enough to get through life and enjoy cooking. Am i crazy to think like that?
