Sir, The ADX is primarily useful for measuring the strength of a trend. The ADX indicator can give false signals during choppy, sideways markets. This is because the ADX is designed to measure the strength of a trend, and if there is no trend, it can give misleading signals. Please take a review where ADX fails.

Yes. Every indicator has favourable and non-favourable trends. It is nice that you know the non-favourable phase of the ADX indicator because of the concept used in the indicator. Usually, ADX line (strength line) will not rise during choppy sessions. You can use price action or other strategies to handle choppy markets. You can also handle it with noiseless charts like P&F and Renko. Regards, Prashant

Prashant Sir ...Really loved the way you had explained......If one understands the logic behind the indicator one can relate more with that and can use it as a supplementary tool along with price action rather than blindly following up just the indicator based strategy .....I would like to request for a video on Super Trend Indicator and on parabolic SAR .

can we use the same concept on renko and what should be time frame and box size for intra day and positional trade after we have created a universe of stock in ohlc or point and figure

Yes, you can use it on Renko as well. Try it on one-minute timeframe and 0.25% brick size on intraday for stocks. Daily timeframe and 1% brick size on EOD timeframe for positional trades (Goes well on midcaps). Regards, Prashant

You are right, the ADX period can be adjusted based on your style and type of trading. 14 is effective and widely followed. You can also try 5 or 8. Alternatively, change the timeframe. I prefer it on noiseless charts. Regards, Prashant
