it didn't because the new production team, compared to the one in stage 4, didn't care about realism, but instead turned up drama and "coolness" to the max. turning an amazing series into a parody. the irony when the first episode is about imposters, but the actual characters look like imposters compared to previous seasons

@Troy Gracia Shinji's 86 was fine compared to Takumi's. In the Anime Takumi said he'll keep the 86 but will not use it for racing anymore because after the engine was repaired it was detuned for street use. But in the manga he scraps the 86.

The cgi and camera work for this race was so clean and epic. Too bad the race itself was not epic like some of the earlier or midway races like Takumi vs Ryosuke or Keisuke vs God Foot.
People hate on Shinji because he lacks skill. Making a brat the final boss of Takumi is unsatisfying, since he already beat so many seasoned, experienced racers.

A kid that didn't know shit about Cars or driving that simply had so much raw talent to beat a lot of more seasoned and experienced drivers all along. Another more seasoned and experienced driver would have been redundant: his final boss was a brat who seemingly had the same or arguably even more raw natural talent, since he also was younger. Making the brat his final boss, was almost like making a mirrored version of Takumi himself, Takumi's final boss. Basically him, but even younger, even more inexperienced, with even more raw talent.
I watched this all the way through and then I rewatched it with "Gas gas gas" and the toyota speed chime loop on in the background and it elevated it so much lmao
What makes me mad is why there is no scene where Shinji's apologized to Takumi cause he bumps his car, and also Takumi's to naive to blind attack shinji, i mean when Takumi trying to blind attack Shinji with his headlights off he didn't bump shinji back though.
Which is one of the reasons I (and other people) hate Shinji. He was supposed to be a counter part to 1st stage Takumi with raw talent and no intention to race. However he's much more cocky, rude, horny, that he's just come off as a annoying brat rather than a respectable opponent.
imagine if takumi overtook clean. slammed the brakes. open the door. walk out. socket wrench on his hands. OR shinji decides on a expedition outside his turf. parks the car on family restaurant in gunma. goes back and finds out his ride is now trash.
i wonder if Takumi wasn't deaf, hear how much he is rolling the engine and up shift at the moment. Also Shinji lost right there: 1:16 When Keisuke punched guardrail on this speed, his car died. When Shinji punched the pole - his car must spin out with no RR wheel.

@@Kosoku63 the man plays dirty by completely ignoring boundaries and just blantly knocking takumi out of the way to pass or ignores certain road aspects and hits things like a sign for example and bumps takumi. Its one thing to say play a backroads strategy like Kogashiwa and jump corners but its a whole other thing to be like Shingo and blantantly give no craps about the other driver and bump them to get them out of your way or to get an advantage. Real racing is just trying to outbeat your opponet without interfering with them. If shinji would have played by the unsaid rules and kept his car to himself it would have been a lot more difficult for him to pass takumi early on which if he didnt takumi wouldnt have strained his tires and engine so much. so Takumi blowing his engine into the finish line is a justified win because all rules were null and void after the first purposeful bump.
I would have preferred had you shown Takumi stomp the clutch to make the car keep rolling in reverse. It was a great moment. But I love how short the race is otherwise

Project D mechanics removed rev limiter, so Takumi could stay on same gear a little bit longer. It means that Takumi had constantly check revs either by his feelings or by his vision. During the final overtake Takumi's concentration was fully on the road and since it is dark, he didn't notice that he floored the gas pedal too long, which caused engine blow up. Most likely he riched 12+k RPM as soon as his and Shinji's cars leveled up.
It's not normal when his headlights is off. You can hear the engine abnormal revving when he turns off his headlights, which means he's been using 12k rpm when he turned off his headlights
Takumi got like so worse in 5th stage, what???? In 2nd 3rd stage even if he got overtaken he was OP, now he's spinning to the outside with no clear reason??? Shame on the anime-ers

And also forget to mention. Battle Stage1:Nice 3D models, and they also decided to put manga character designs. The races might last a bit long but it's ok. I'll give it 8.5 Battle stage 2: 3 out of 10. Movie(real life one) : 6.5 at least they put effort. Other shit movies: 4 out of ten General: Like where are those days when r32 was best on straights and rx7 on corners and almost everyone had s13 guess what took their place, a shit ass autozone special Z from 2005! The time diffrance is horrible, all this 90s vibe is gone. I think the series should have ended after third stage.
- trash race consisting of mostly bumping and teleporting out of corners. - any engine, including racing ones, has a fuel cutoff to not overrev so it would NOT blow - forced drama, no tactics, turning off headlights doesn't help if it's not dark and everything is perfectly visible. they turned a masterpiece into garbage
I respect your opinion, but also I hate when people mistake mistake fictions for facts. Let me just explain myself. - There is no teleporting in Initial D. Fujiwara zone is just some sort of a mind game. When the chasing racer tries to predict opponent's trajectory and speed and the opponent is suddenly faster than expected, the chasing one will actually see it like if the opponent has teleported. - Fuel cutoff has been removed from this engine. - No, it's actually dark there, but it was animated this way to let us see everything better.
I know that God Hand is definitely better than Shinji, like who tf lets someone overtake him purposely in a race, and his driving also, it's bullshit, he overtaked takumi in a impossible place just to impress mako, like bro, you lost anyway. i know that shinji is a good driver but, he isnt as good as tomoyuki tachi or god hand, maybe even bunta.
