I truly was not ready for Ca-ca-caaaaaaaw-ca-CAAAAAAAAW's animation. You really knocked it out of the park this time Krugg.

I absolutely love the humour in this series. I was laughing aloud every couple minutes! Also, those crocs are in fact normally aggressive, but that scaled vest was giving you enough reputation with Unshelled Reptiles to make them peaceful toward you! It's also potentially a great boon in the salt desert. IF you're interested, a somewhat wordy rundown of how that works is below. Some creatures are easier to pacify than others, that's what the "Base demeanor" part of the creature description is talking about. Docile = You need at least -600 rep with the creature's faction(s) for them to not attack you. Neutral = You need at least -250 rep. Aggressive = You need at least 250 rep. You can view your current rep (taking into account bonuses from items etc.) for all factions on the Factions tab of the character menu, including details for what transgressions they will and won't tolerate, such as you existing within their line of sight. In the rare case of creatures belonging to two factions, such as Dawngliders (the fire-breathing "birds" you mentioned), you need to meet that rep requirement for BOTH factions for them to be peaceful. Dawngliders have an Aggressive demeanor and belong to both the Birds and Unshelled Reptiles factions. So, if you can manage to get both Birds and Unshelled Reptiles reputation to 250 or higher, it will largely remove dawngliders as a threat. Not an easy task considering reptiles usually hate your guts from the start of the game, but given that your vest gives you a large bonus to both, it's not outside the realm of possibility, and it would certainly make exploring the salt desert a lot safer!

Hahahaha! Man, this felt like that bureaucracy house in the Asterix & Obelix movie The Twelve Labours. They were being told to gather all manners of strange-worded formulas, permits, and more to get Form 38. Only replace it with them trying to find a specific person among various birds telling them different directions.

I love how much fun you seem to be having with these animations. I know they must take you a -LOT- longer to do, but they have so much charm and individuality. I have never played this game. I am now somewhat tempted to play this game but with the same trepidation of wanting to stick my arm into a mysterious dark hole, but I definitely want to keep watching the journey of Aecius to whether the hell he's going.

Note, you just have to find the thing. You've made your way into the lair so that's pretty good already. And it's still just a fish, legendary, but only among other fish. You could just look around til you find it if someone's not carrying it.

The humor and your pixel art in this episode had me in hysterics. I really enjoyed this one!

As a point. Cooking is so important for the main story as well as game mechanics, it basically lets you specially craft buffs that you can give yourself before encounters little pasive effects, extra mutations, strange abilities. Disease immunity. Learning what plants and meats do what as you travel along is very good for the future of your character essentially

I understand the point of avoiding traveling through the map, You get to see one thing or other along the way, on the other hand, you don't interact with the getting lost mechanic, and do spend a looong time just walking

The "Fast Travel" navigates you one tile at a time across the world map, and rolls an encounter chance every tile. It stops you at points of interest and sometimes you simply lose your bearings and must explore the local area before you can resume overland travel. The overall effect is more varied encounters. Also, when you camp, the cooking option cooking lets you throw the plentiful ingredients you gather into meals to get various buffs and powers for the day. Some combinations are really cool!

Gotta say, the art is spectacular. These are my favorite this episode 6:20 - great face 11:55 - Mario & Sonic Take on me 13:08 -vampire mode 19:37 -caw

7:16 not as relevant rn, but in the later game things in the "trade goods" tab like that beaded bracelet are actually really useful since they let you carry the equivalent of a ton of water in a way more portable form and can be traded to any non-hostile npc to redeem their value. the alternative is either carrying around like a dozen waterskins or having somewhere to leave behind all of your extra stuff when you're travelling

You learn secrets about the sultanate by looking at statues, as well as painted and engraved items. This can reveal special dungeons with spoiler secrets that you definitely should investigate if you find one near the left side of the screen on the map.

You can press backspace to show all points of interest/unique NPCs that have been in your field-of-view at any point, as a heads up. It's so useful revising towns trying to find those pesky birds!

The "Doom guy" face when Aecius equipped the jackhammer was fantastic. Really cracked me up!

I've been watching your videos since Honeystoker and to see you start Caves of Qud, a game I'd recently became entranced with was a joy. My friends and I have always watched your "holiday specials" together and this has gave us the same excuse to gather each time a new addition to the series comes out. Keep up the wonderful work, we sincerely look forward to Aecius' arrival at the stilt! Rumor has it there's someone who can grant you experience from books there ;)

Note the legendary glowfish is likely a shade of pink, so they might be hard to discern from the normal glowfish. Also, it is quite possible that the legendary glowfish might be wielding the item.

This episode made me laugh so much. The bird village had me to tears. Great animations! Thank you for your work!

I love how Aecius quest keeps getting progressively goofier

Once you get to the stilt I think it’s best that you use quick travel because after you have a good idea of what you’ll generally be seeing in between it gets monotonous and as your level gets higher the snapjaws will eventually not even give you xp plus there will be other interesting things, villages, and quests. You’ll also have to travel back to the stilt multiple times in the future as well as other locations.

Thank you for putting in the work to make these stories come to life with your art and storytelling. It is genuinely interesting and exciting because by the nature of the game nobody can predict how it will go and what is about to happen. I would think it could sometimes be a bit frightening/anxiety inducing to create such a series, since you yourself don't really know where it will go or if there will be a sudden anticlimactic end to it. Its truly about the journey and I love it. The attention to detail and slow progress (gameplay wise) is wonderful. I often catch myself paying less attention to the little things and bits happening after a while of playing. Seeing the creative potential in each and every moment, is so cool.

Hell yeah another episode!

Its worthwhile to investigate pretty much everything you see. Things like random vases and piles of gore can be hiding treasures of immense value. Especially with your high ego score, it's worth it to be a bit of a loot hound. You'll be glad for the trade goods later.

lol, I love the horrible eyes and mouth at 19:39. I really enjoy that Krugg can use Qud to be a bit more silly and weird compared to his DF videos. The contrast is nice, and it makes the two series feel different from each other.

Yea you can use those bed rolls you found to sleep and skip time. You can also pick them up, though space won´t do that cause that will just have you interact with it, but g is for picking up stuff. Another great episode, your art and animations are a delight.

Fun tip: put a torch in your thrown item slot, then light and throw it to have a spot of light to fight around!

You're a society of birds that inhabits a small village, you want new customs, you find a set of grenades on a blueprint, you begin to worship the blueprint, a gold fish steals that blueprint, and not a single person on either side has or will use the blueprint to make the grenades listed on it, qud politics. Oh and I love the series, this is just what Qud needed as far as content, also very excited to see you attempt to interpret and draw some of the more... incomprehensible enemies.

Very enjoyable playthrough so far. Your animation really adds a lot.

I'm loving the editing in this, from the fuckass birds, to the sound cues to the abilities used. That vest is a GREAT find, and I'm pretty sure it should negate the issue you might've had with the fire-breathing birds in the salt desert; if it's feathered, it must be a bird, and a bird wouldn't have quarrel with another bird.

Love this series! Remember you can use your ingredients you've found at a camp fire to cook with. Dont just eat um from your inventory. This way you'll get some temporary buffs and effects

These are so good. The art style and little animations are fantastic.

I had gotten into a rut with this game fast traveling to locations to just cheese certain items and turn in certain quests. But after watching your series I realize it's much more fun just to wander the overworld, to find your own treasures, make your own victories, your own story. It got me into the game again!

Commenting again to give a couple of important tips: 1. your quest item might be carried by a named NPC such as the fish the lair is named after, or it may be in a chest like the one you saw on the surface. You were right that chests / possessions in settlements like that village are off-limits if you don't want to upset folks, but in the wild (and in lairs) whatever you see you can take basically. The game will also warn you if you open a chest or take an item that doesn't belong to you. 2. Sometimes it can be hard to find a named NPC, such as this glowfish, because the coloration for the special one is pink, same as all the other glowfish, so you can't tell them apart easily. There's a hotkey to "show points of interest" (backspace by default) which will let you auto-path to named NPCs in the current zone - useful when you're struggling to find someone specific.

There is a book in this game called "Aphorisms about Birds". It contains pearls of wisdom like "If asked who's responsible for your misfortunes, blame birds. They neither care, nor can they muster much of a defense."

Yo this episode was on another level. Always love your story telling but the humor and such added to this episode was super. Great work and let's get jacking
