Hey everyone! I hope you enjoy the new style! I practiced a ton over the past 4 months with the drawings! Let me know what else you would like me to cover in the future!
I made a list on your last episode, but ill just type it again here. History of Erusea Series of individual Ace Pilots. Countries of Strangereal. (Explain briefly every country on Strangereal, Ex: ideology, wars, strength, can also be done in a series) Talk about a war and operations within it. History of drones and UAV’s, (mostly concerns AC7) or plane development in general Satellites Geographical locations and terrains Episode of a whole squadron (Their effectiveness, Wins, Losses, Etc.) good examples are Sol and Yellow squadron. Space elevator Megalith Arsenal bird (Also concerns AC7)
Little did everyone know that the destruction of the "Invincible Fleet" would trigger a chain of events in the next 15 years, where a familiar captain from a war long past would carry out a mad plan of chaos. But that's another story...
@@ninovalenzuela1019 actually, it was more than it Even before the _Alicorn_ incident, he has been put under house arrest after he was teaching on a military college So yeah... Operation Rough Seas, teaching but arrested, the _Alicorn_ incident. What a chain of events
Its even more hard to imagine of how tf an F-4 fighter jet can take down an entire 18 Ships 1 carriers 1 battleship and possibly even more ships n planes in a single run. Man, Ace combat main character has to be the strongest main character ever.
Something I just realised that made me appreciate the Eruseans a little more: They didn’t try to downplay this or cover it up. I say this because often times, some countries that are more “fanatical”, so to speak, wouldn’t have awarded Torres for his actions. In addition, the mere fact Torres was awarded, and not shunned, by the Navy shows another point, that Erusea doesn’t blame officers directly responsible for the defeat. Torres could easily have been shunned for helping his fellow sailors rather than fight back.
What about the Erusean fleet that was destroyed by Trigger in mission 11 "Fleet Destruction" in Ace Combat 7? Which is also my favorite mission in Ace Combat 7. I enjoy sinking ships with Long Range Anti-Ship Missiles.
The "Njord Fleet", consisting mostly Russian made ships unlike the Aegir Fleet. Warship models featured examples for this fleet are: Aircraft Carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov", Missile Cruiser "Slava", Destroyer "Udaloy II", and the Aegis Frigate "Admiral Gorshkov". These are the real world names btw, don't know the in-game versions.
@@nukclear2741 well that carrier’s name the admiral kuznetsov class was called the Njörðr, the flagship of the Njord fleet. Until the carrier and the rest of the fleet was sunk by the Osean air defense force’s LRSSG consisting of Strider squadron and Cyclops squadron, during Operation Siren’s Song.
@@kram0113 I don’t know if this is true, but maybe after the continental war, Erusea’s started to purchase ships from Yuktobania considering the Aegir fleet was mostly made of western made ships from Osea I presume, so maybe Osea imposed a military embargo on Erusea after the war against ISAF, because of the embargo it seems like Erusea decided to rebuild its navy by mainly purchasing Yuktobanian ships including the submarine alicorn and replaced the Aegir fleet with the new Njord fleet consisting of Russian ships, same thing with the ships stationed at anchorhead. This explains why their navy is made up of primarily of Russian ships by the time of the lighthouse war.
I learned more about a fictional battle in one video game in an entire series with more detail and interest than I did my entire Middle/High school history classes
AC4: A railgun base and a missile facility Me: ‘Meh, I guess I can understand that.’ AC7: A giant flying drone hub with lasers and an energy shield Me: ‘Okay, someone is off their rocker…’
sometimes I remember how ridiculous it is that a single plane with anti air missiles sinks multiple huge ships that have multiple compartments, guns, anti air systems and are generally designed not to sink, without even landing to restock the 4 missiles on its wings...
OPAA!!!! Been waiting for more "History" lessons. Edit. If you drew this, that's a GOOD looking F4... Good stuff my friend. 2nd Edit. Didn't the Tanager break up into like, 6 pieces before it sunk?
It's too bad that ships are so weak in ace combat for the sake of gameplay. I get it, but an entire fleet with their countermeasures would probably be a bit tougher than they are depicted here against so few aircraft, even with people with no blood in their bodies flying them.
Wait a minute... Why didn't ISAF occupy Comberth Harbor, once their own fleet was ready? Why would have they choosen Crown beach instead of Comberth Harbor? I would assume that by the time Operation Bunker Shot happened, Comberth Harbor was still free to be occupied with less resistance, don't you think?
Part of Ace Combat's classification problem with all frigates and cruisers being destroyers is that that is how the JMSDF classifies their ships, and since most of the project aces military advisers are from the JSDF...well you get the idea. What other navies would call cruisers and frigates the JMSDF calls Destroyers. Part of this is political, since the pacifist section of Japan is very vocal, as are Japan's neighbors. Hence why they call their larger and more capable ships "destroyers" rather than cruisers or battle cruisers. Also why their 4 carriers are called "Helicopter-destroyers" not light carriers or escort carriers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_active_Japan_Maritime_Self-Defense_Force_ships
wrt classification: thats an odd European/Japanese terminology (destroyer/cruiser) (or US being odd in that we made Cruiser a 'anti aircraft/missile thing)!
And of course after Farbanti it was just a fustercluck, but at least the conservative faction of Erusea had Strider, Cyclops and Sol squadrons to help.
2003, watching the whole fleet destroyed by a single fighter and one pilot. ( Deep emotional trauma) 2019, watch as the whole submarine was dismantle part by part, and of course still by a single people. past memory intensified.
As someone who has actually walked the deck of an Iowa class battleship, I can very much attest to how much you would not want even a single one of those 16-inch guns pointing at you.
When they refit the Iowa's IRL for service in the 1980s, there were proposals to update and automate a lot of ship functions. This would have freed up a lot of space. Perhaps in Strangereal this space was used to refit the Tanager with additional C4I capabilities optimizing it to be a flag ship
The USS Wisconsin was recommissioned and fit with cruise missiles for the Gulf War. It conduct shoreline bombardments along with longer range missile strikes. Super badass.
I have absolutely no artillery experience but with upscaling the rocket assisted shells used in modern howitzers would be absolutely bonkers in a 12 inch cannon. No idea if it’s feasible IRL but Stonehenge used magnetic rails to accelerate and that worked. Strangereal is a far out place after all.
Sounds like bad command on the Aegir fleet's part. "So they've been destroying our supplies, which probably means they'll come for us next. No need to keep the crews on radar duty though, we won't need to see them coming"
The CAP they had up during Operation Rough Seas would have been more than enough if they weren't facing f'king Mobius One! That doesn't look like bad command to me.
Well Ace 7 corrected some of that. In siren song, it's easy to tell the destroyers, cruisers and frigates. They're russian design after all, and the Russian missile cruiser is easy to spot
To be fair going off of the older systems like those of the long gone naval treaties modern guided missile destroyers are about the size of an "old" gun cruiser. While frigates have gone up to the old treaty destroyer limits. Edit: so if your going off tonnage then it actually somewhat makes more sense.
Seriously, these videos are just...amazing, there’s nothing like these on RU-vid, and I love watching these, I’ve watched every video at least 5 times, and seeing a new upload I jumped with joy, another great video as always my man.
Coolest thing about AC4 there’s dialogue that even states that “The flagship Tanager made it out of the harbor” AFTER you “sink” it. Such a fine attention to detail for a future game that amazes me about this community
You gotta admire the continuity of ace combat making these events affect the events of that game over a decade later, 2 in our time The writers sure know how to make a universe
At the risk of being "that guy" and only because it's my favorite plane, the ailerons on the F-4 at 10:30 and again at 12:12 (where the same drawing is reused) are incorrect. The F-4 used a combination of ailerons and spoilers for its roll control. The ailerons primarily moved down, and only had a maximum up angle of 1 degree. Instead, a spoiler in front of the aileron on the wing would rise and provide that control. To my knowledge, this is accurately represented in every Ace Combat game starting with AC04. But now that I'm done being an annoying nitpicker, this video is fantastic as all yours are, and the production quality just keeps improving every time. Incredible, please keep it up!
@@JoeShmoe376 A lot of its design was compromise, but that's true for any plane. The most noteworthy "band-aid" in the design are the opposing dihedral wingtips and anhedral horizontal stabilators, which hampered maneuverability and increased drag slightly, but solved the stability problems that early mockups had. The combined spoiler/aileron roll controls were a bit unique but the concept wasn't especially "out there," for example the WWII-era P-61 also used a combination of ailerons and spoilers to roll, with the only difference being that the ailerons had a full upward and downward range of motion. I've never heard of any pilot disliking the roll controls specifically, although they do note that the controls tend to become ineffective at supersonic speeds, and the rudder is used to roll the aircraft instead.
I'd love to know how military manufacturers work in strangereal. Real life: America has the F series of fighters and they made the 4 Iowa battleships. Strangereal: every nation has the F series of fighters and an iowa is owned by Erusea, Estovakia and others. Are the manufacturer corporations just private and sell to the highest bidder? Obviously not state owned like they are in real world
THIS! I love strangereal based AC games, but this drives me crazy. I really hope Sol can make video about it. I dont think that corporations work that way in strangereal either. In AC5, Grunder Industries (officially now Osean manufacturer) is *smuggling* planes to Yukes, to prolong the war and arm the aggressor units there. The fact they do so in secret implies that Osea would not allow them to do that if they knew. And in general, the first thing any nation would do would be to block company from selling to their enemies, and later would nationalize said company. Only way for companies to prevent this would be essentialy large private militaries to protect them, which I never heard of (and, once again, the fact that Grunder *does* have some sort of private military is to everyone's shock if I remember AC5 correctly).
I think strangereal is one of those genres that should be explored more in sci-fi. Though I'm curious, what other strangereal properties exist other than ace combat?
America has zero state owned manufacturing companies... we have contractors, but nothing defense related is directly owned by the government. It's illegal for that here. Still, I always wondered that too. With all the nations being analogous to real world counterparts, how do certain "good guy" and "bad guy" nations have access to real world equipment and weapons not found in their real world counterparts?
@@baronofrhodes1185 True, but congress can limit which company sells what to which country, no? I am sure there is a law prohibiting selling F-22 abroad, even to allies, from fears of its superior technology being compromised. But in AC, if it was Osea who developed F-22, they had no qualms about selling it to anybody, which bitten them in the ass in every war ever since.
I'm so glad you're back Sol! Your lore videos on Strangereal are always the best, specially with all your hard effort on the drawings and animations. Keep it up!
To be honest, I never thought of the significance of the Aegir Fleet until this video. For me, it was a "shooting fish in a barrel" mission. Only the sub are annoying to sink though, inside a bunker and all.
Imagine project aces adding a challenge mode to ac7 where we had to take on the AF while they are already prepared and ready for you. Those aegis ships would be a f#cking pain to deal with on ace difficulty man.
Had I been helping to design stuff for AC04, I would've made _Tanager_ an _Alscase_ that received a modernization similar to the IRL _Iowas._ If they can build lasers and railguns, ships that were never even laid down IRL are likely nothing for them, and it would fit in well with the French influences Erusea has.
Please don't stop making these, this is top tier content. Wish there was more talented and entertaining people like you on RU-vid ! Now, excuse me, I have a bed to make. Hope no one walks all over the crisp white sheets of the bed that I'll make with dirty boots.
i'm super glad that you did a lot of excercise with the drawings :D even if i was a liil absent from the discord i always watched all your improvements, and man i already can't wait for the next video, this gave me chills like the one of Stonehenge :D anyway quoting Thunderhead: >
@@cloudftw113 strangereal is an alternative world where non of our countries exist except for some reason italy, no one know why but italy always exists in every universe you go, it's a constant
If were are going back to more practical times Carriers would less teched-out on the inside, thus being able to carry more planes and have the necessary part to undergo repair or serve a hospital, Iowa's have a lot of room, and you will need it for the staff during war campaigns, plus their speed with cover support from naval fighter can enable the commander to get a better view of the engagement
I like the explanation of the strategy to take put the Aegir Fleet, I never put 2 and 2 together that was what the missions BLOCKADE, and LIFELINE were for. However I feel that less than half of the bombers available at Rigley Airbase were deployed to strike the final decisive blow, and that the ace-in-the-hole "Invincible" Aegir Fleet was not utilized, especially considering the target was well outside of their ADN engagement zone.
The weirdest thing about the Torres shot for me is the actual physical impossibility of a Creusot-Loire 100mm L/55 on a Cassard-class even reaching 30 km. At the most optimal angles it could only fire at 17 km before physics dictates that the shell lands. This leads to a couple of possibilities that are rather strange to consider. The first would be that the Eruseans somehow thought it made sense to add rocket-assisted projectiles, however with the increased air pressure of a storm this wouldn't be guaranteed to even reach the 30 km barrier, not to mention that missiles in the VLS are generally better for those ranges. Second would combine with the first reason in that the Herne was noticeably above her target so combined with the rocket-assisted projectiles it would make it possible to land the shot. Third would be that the Herne was retrofitted with a 5 inch L/62 that would be found in US-design ships, but that's more unlikely if taking a look at the in-game model I think. Fourth is that gravity in SR is considerably lower than normal, also leading to lower atmospheric pressure for less drag. However this would imply some very drastic changes in SR's entire geography and contradict the DLC. It's one of those really weird things to think about that keeps me up at night. As for the Tanager, I'd definitely say it's just pure symbolism on top of AC 4 having strong WWII vibes. Back in the day it was common for battleships and aircraft carriers alike to be flagships. It wouldn't be a dumb option either as the RL Iowa was actually armed with missiles in the Cold War. You could load a few dozen Tomahawk cruise missiles on there and some Harpoons, and normally anti-ship missiles are HE-frag because everything is paper, while the Iowa's belt is slightly over 300mm of face-hardened steel. She even had some electronic warfare systems for those pesky missiles as well as Phalanx CIWS because you can put that shit anywhere. The problems would come from how she doesn't have the missile payload of other more modern ships, the lack of a nuclear reactor for when you want to save on fuel, the electronic warfare suite is kinda limited because you can't hook that shit up to a nuclear reactor the Iowa doesn't even have and the logistics cost. That and no torpedo tubes nor even provisions for anti-sub missiles means that she's also vulnerable to submarines. So in the end what you get is a really chunky destroyer that has trouble defending herself. She can take a beating, but the beatings won't stop coming. It's cute to see a relic fight alongside proper modern ships though. Then again since when do SR fleets even remember they have defensive measures up the bum that makes a single fleet a superweapon fight?
@@ANDREALEONE95 While that's the case that would result in the best chance of hitting a target at 30 km, note that Torres's shot is explicitly stated to be a feat of gunnery, not missiles. A 30 km shot with Exocets is also not impressive. In fact it can be argued that 30 km with such missiles might as well be point-blank range relatively speaking.
1:40 u are right about ace combat getting the ships classified wrongly, like I remember in ace combat 6 when talisman destroys some estovakian warships, the dialogue from ghost or from shamrock would be like: Talisman destroyed an estovakian Cassand class guided missile destroyer, ghost eye would say “enemy destroyer sunk” Talisman destroyed an estovakian Ticonderoga guided missile cruiser, shamrock would say “Garuda 1 sank an Aegis destroyer!” So yeah I have no idea why they get the classifications wrong, I mean we all know that a Cassard frigate isn’t a guided missile destroyer and a Ticonderoga cruiser isn’t a guided missile aegis destroyer
Solutus, you seem to be the most knowledgable person on Strangereal lore there is. Maybe you could finally answer the question that burns me since I become AC fan, and really halts my love for the series and its setting sometimes. *Why do different countries use same planes?* I can understand that this is a fictional world unrelated ours. I can accept that for some reason they developed same jets as us, including names. What drives me absolutely crazy is why do opposing countries use the same designs? In our world, F-22 and later F-35 were game changers. Other countries are only now slowly catching up, and US has almost undisputed air superiority for decades now. I dont know who developed F-35 in Strangereal, but why would anyone give it up to other nation? AC5 sort of addresses this with Pops talking about how Grunder supplied Jets to Yukes, but that cutscene itself opens more questions that it gives answers. I would be very eager to know your opinion on this. Thanks!
I'm not an expert in ace combat lore, not even close, but if i'm not mistaken thats because in strangereal nations don't build or design the airplanes, companies do and those companies sell their designs to whoever wants it
@@carso1500 But thats the problem I addressed. In our world, planes are not made by countries directly either, atleast not in the US and Europe. But the countries in which is the company is located strictly control to who it sells military hardware. Boeing is a independent company, which is can sell civilian jet liners to whomever they please. They can sell however sell F-15s only to countries which US congress allows them to. Lets say that Osean company develops new cutting edge jet. Osean government would obviously liked to have this jet, and for nobody else to have it, since i would give them advantage. Osean government (presumably) supplies such company with electricity, workforce, etc. Osea also have standing army. What prohibits Osea from forcing the company to comply? One day, slick government representative shows up on the door, and says: "Look, those planes you are making could be quite a gamechanger. We would really prefer the Yukes to not have them. We give you nice tax bonus if you sell them only to us." And if the company declines the offer, what prohibits the government from simply shutting down the power, and prohibiting the workers to come to the job? And later, what prohibits Osea from nationalizing your company, with force if necessary? *Hippity Hoppity, this factory is now Bright Hill's property.* The only thing that could prevent Osea from doing so would be if the company has *its own standing military* ready to defend it. But there is zero evidence to that in AC games I played. Quite the opposite, when Grunder is revealed to have such a military, its a big plot twist (ie, something completely uncommon and unexpected). Also, having military is really non-profitable, and having such a great burden on them would not look good on bottom line numbers. It would be more profitable just to sell to one country than sell to everyone but also keep your own bunch of expensive mercs afloat and loyal.
@@lihkan yeah thats would make perfect sense thats why irl only certain countries have certain airplanes because the countries prohibit their exportation because advanced aircraft can be a game changer (except the russians who sell their airplanes to anyone who can pay them because they are desperate for some bucks) But if that was the case in ace combat that wouldnt be fun because then you would only fight at much a couple diferent aircraft that that country has access to instead of a diverse pool from all around the world and that would also mean that you wouldnt be capable of using an f-22 and the change to a su-57 for the same misión I think this is one of those ocasions when lógic gets thrown out of the window in regards for gameplay
Thank you for these videos on the game's I love. Your videos brings more life to what I play. Thank you. And thanks to Project Aces for continuing the Ace Combat Series.
If it wasn’t for Mobius 1 taking out the most lethal of Erusea’s defenses in the continental war, Trigger would have been easily destroyed. The Aegir fleet and Yellow squadron are proof enough of that, not to mention Stonehenge AND the ultimate doomsday weapon, Megalith. Love the vids my dude! Keep ‘em coming!
Yeah, somewhere I read Yellow 13 was the only one to match Mihaly at one point in their years before the games. *My boi Mobius tho* Trigger and friends have to protect one cannon of (AC4 Superweapon) Stonehenge, because with a single shot it can decimate an arsenal bird (AC7 Superweapon) of which there is two. Could you imagine going up against 7 of those damn things, fully armed and operational? Firing constantly as you fly towards here and dance in the sky around it, the barrel only a few thousand feet away. Along with being attacked by an upgraded Mihaly and upgraded Sol squadron? While also doing it practically all alone? *MY BOI MOBIUS THO* Jokes aside, Keiki Kobayashi himself confirmed Megalith as the penultimate and most powerful superweapon of the franchise. That thing is capable of turning entire continents into moonscapes from asteroid impacts, *By continuously firing laserbeam guided, nuclear Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles at asteroids in orbit, causing them to fragment and boom towards a ?precalculated? point of impact on Earth's surface. Ironically, this great terrible power the Ribbon Fighter defeats, uses the Ulysses Crisis itself to rain meteoric hell on the planet. Going against that alone? "Stick with Trigger and you'll make it, but I don't care if it's true or not just tell them the Ribbon Fighter is here."
Ayy... Salvation! It's here! Picture it!!! Poor guy, he (Matias Torres) wasn't always like this though... That encounter with the ribbon as the opposing side... It changes people... It changes nations... How are you doing Sol? I hope you're doing alright. Great work on the video! Enjoying it a lot with this isolation thing going on. I see that you've improved your style even further. Keep it up and stay safe out there! Solutus Eversol, Savior of the Lore, I pray for your success!
The estovakian navy’s south sea fleet were ordered to fight the emmerian navy’s 2nd fleet to the death, so when the first task group of estovakian warships that came out of the bay to meet the emmerians were sunk infront of the brigade, the 2nd task group behind the bridge were the holding the line and the stovies had an Iowa class battleship wreaking havoc with its 16inch guns on the emmerian 2nd fleet and using its phalanx CIWS to shoot down any emmerian aircraft, but the battleship was eventually sunk with the rest of the estovakian warships making the remainder of the south sea fleet
