You still have this aerator? I am looking at a Ryan Greensaire and from what I can tell, a lot interchangeable parts been the Ryan and the Jacobsen GA24. Did you get the different type of tines? If so where did you get them from and did you have to get new tine holders?
Ryan and Jake are the same animal, I ended up selling this aerator for a Turfco XT5 which I really like. The Jake did come with solid and core aeration tines which worked with the same holders.
I really like solid tines also because they bring up less weed seeds and you can go out when a big rain is predicted in summer and harvest the benefit! I have a Billy Goat 18 inch mechanical machine with four tines so no comparison but I bought all the different hollows and solids except the Zoysia transfer ones. Very cool! Do you think you will be able to stop your self from using it every week?
yes aerating, verticut, dethatch can and will mess with your pre-emergent layer....be warned!! I've done it and suffered the consequences..... the avalanche of weeds... (starter fert) choked out the grass seed
@@TurfCulture exact dimension.. I don't know but it's shallow. I've reseed bare spots and overcame the preemergent with a garden Weasel..... I'm guessing that's 3/4 of an inch. Use a mesotrione liquid or granular if the areas large and weeds are a concern
Keep in mind most dethatcher that the typical DIY guy can get is adjustable and unless the lawn is dead flat they're breaking the soil. In my location if you try and get a verticut machine they bring out a dethatcher or overseeder.... You have to be aware of the weed pressure in your area/yard when you're doing this. Mine is pretty sever
