It's ok to scream. Crying is ok too. I might have a heart attack if I came back to my home and saw this.... Praying and hope are good things to send, but money, temp housing and the National Guard come next...

How do you rebuild after this? How does one get rid of all that mud and debris?? Just heartbreaking.

Wow. Unbelievable devastation!!

Just think about all the homes, businesses, historic areas, roads and bridges that will have to be rebuilt if possible. Will take millions and years to do. So sad.

If the Carolinas and Tennessee are this devastated, I wonder what Florida small towns look like. I see Ceder Key and other rural areas 100% flattened!

I was here a few years ago ..maybe 7 and there was flooding and a big storm then .Houses were washing fown rhe sides if hills in mudslides.Prayers for all who live there.

At least they muted the video about donating to the Red Cross because of the overwhelming response in the comments of how little, if any of the money or help the Red Cross actually gives, is received from the intended donation. Find a local charity, group, or organization that you can verify that gives all proceeds to those in need.

Happens every year all over the south. People used to buy this one house down the hill from us. Every year it gets washed away, someone else comes in and buys the land for cheap, builds a house, washed away. Rinse/repeat. You think flooding in the south is bad try living in tornado alley in the spring/summer, entire neighborhoods and building look like they got bombed

This is reminiscent of what happened in Lahaina Hawaii. All of sudden you have prime real-estate available to be bought up for cheap. This is 400 miles inland from where it hit.

No more proxy wars. Use the money at home.

I've been through too many hurricanes like this and worse but when I see other people dealing with it, it pains my heart for them. Bc i know what it's like to feel devastated and hopeless and worried and scared, and feeling completely fucked. Why did we want to live by the water!!? In this case it wouldn't have mattered bc the city, inland, is just as bad as the bank by the water! I'm sorry to those of you who were hit. We were in the area for devastation but somehow we didn't get hit, not even a drop of rain, no wind, if was a miracle and we already have holes in the roof from the last storm, not hurricane, STORM! Our storms are pretty bad in Florida. I hope these people know that they will get help! Help is on the way! No insurance? It's OK, Red Cross and many others will help!! You are not alone!! Yes rebuilding takes time but the important thing is to remember YOU ARE ALIVE, YOU MADE IT THROUGH THE STORM!! AND HOPEFULLY YOUR FAMILY DID TOO! Just pick up the pieces, as hard as it may be, slowly pick up the pieces of your life and get back on track. With lots of love and worry for you, big hugs! Man what a storm. Floyd hit in 1999 I’m curious if it was similar. Hazel 1954, Matthew in 2016 came in as a Cat1 and killed 28 if you can believe the internet. Seems like they’ve seen their share of floods. Hope they get some relief soon.

So sorry. Climate is definitely not following the old rules. Devastating destruction of infrastructure and upheaval of lives. Who would have put hurricane on the top of the list for dangers this far inland?!
