This video can be used as a training tool for the aerial rescue event in tree climbing competitions. We have put the score sheet on the side of the video and we check the boxes as each item is completed. This rescue is by no means perfect, and actually makes for a better video to learn from, to see what you could do in certain situations where points were missed. This video may also help to create your own aerial rescue plan for real life situations.

There is never enough emphasis on rescue. Most people think it will nevr happen... until it does and they don't know what to do. Thanks for sharing this.

Greetings from Santa Rosa, CA. I don’t think your channel gets enough credit for the content you put out for the rest of us. I’m definitely sharing your vids with my social media platform. Thanks for all you do !

Thank you for the video, there is so little information on youtube about rescuing. An idea for a video would be to talk about all the different methods and gear for rescuing casualties out of a tree. A lot of guys I teach and examine don't know that they need to add extra friction into their zigzag or srt system when you have a two person load on one rope.

Yes, its important to be familiar with equipment and systems in a rescue situation as you never want to be doing something unfamiliar in a high pressure scenario

Nice work Dan! When that checklist popped on screen I got all tensed up because it reminded me of the EMT practical exam at the end of 150 hours of classroom. I think 8 testing stations and we didn't know the scenario until walking into the test room, so we had to memorize a whole bunch of those checklists in proper order.

Nicely done Dan. It’s a shame that companies don’t promote this training more. Also nice job on the Educated Climbers podcast. 👍🏼🇨🇦

nice! just a small point. confirm very very first that the tree is not energized. you were already touching the tree and rope by the time you stated and looked around that there was no electrical hazards.

wow dan, it looks so different through a camera , yes this is very helpfull. I had to reuse two guys over a 30 year career in tree work . one was in a bucket , the other in a tree , with a dislocated shoulder .. both were given medical attend at a later date, we were the only two on a job at that time . this was many years ago. It reminded me of how panicked, I was , helping a co-worker in need of help. great video . ps love the pod cast with tree mugs too !

Great video on aerial rescue as regards the casualty I'd of thought anything like bleeding could be dealt with on assessment in the air and if unconscious straight to ground for cpr

5:10 would u suspect suspension trauma at this point as well? Obviously he has a dislocated arm but if the scenario was different would you move him around to get the blood flow even again to stop pooling? .. again .. the main thing would be to get him down to the ground asap .. just a thought as well if they were in a confined spot as well .. great vid mate 👍 love your work

Good to check the path of the rope on decent as i see it can get caught on the legs and other things. otherwise goodjob mate!

Great point, and see the tail of the rope catching many people out in both aerial rescue and work climb events. There is actually plenty of rope to get to the ground in this instance, it looks like a bit of a tangle because I have a blue moon lanyard that is on the dummy's leg which look similar to the Cougar blue rope being used for the primary system. Thanks for the comment dude

Went very well. It’s not as bad as you think. You just got to climb high to set your anchor points so you can move easily around the tree.

Thanks bro. like I said at the beginning and end, this is far from perfect and the one piece of loose gear in the rescue is something that wasn't called.
