The dark water is NOT pollution. It's just fresh water from rain and from our coastal rivers. By bad mouthing our waterways incessantly in these videos, you are doing a huge disservice to our communities.

Completely glossed over two of Boca Grande’s icons, Port Boca Grande Lighthouse and Gasparilla Island Lighthouse. Both weathered the storm but they are damaged. The water looks like that after every storm and the beautiful turquoise waters will return. Nature usually recovers.
@chroniciguana402

The Port Boca Grande Lighthouse is located at the southern tip of the island. The other lighthouse is the Rear Range Light, not the Gasparilla Island Lighthouse.

Thanks! If only they would bury their lines, this wouldn’t happen over aand over and over and over. It’s sand-it’s literally not that hard. That “pollution “ is fresh water, which floats over salt water. You will see this on every ebb tide everywhere.

Just remember when you watch this that A LOT of these million dollar plus beachfront homes are owned by VERY rich people who only stay in these homes a few weeks or couple months a year at most. Maybe THEY should be paying for the rebuilding costs if these people all want to lay in a hammock at their beachfront homes during the winter????

Thanks Kellie for doing a phenomenal job bringing this view to us. So many structures still intact compared to the 1st video. So when they build back on FM Beach, this is the material they need to use. This area looks untouched. As you said the dirty side of the storm vs the good side. Very interesting info.❤️🙏🏽

Except the part where she talked about the polluted water. It’s not pollution, it’s tannin color because of all the freshwater from the rivers.

Excellent video. This shows the significant difference between being on the norths side (clean side) of the eye of the hurricane vs what happened at Sanibel and Ft. Myers which was on the south side and saw the huge storm surge. Most of the newer homes had modest damage. A few miles north of landfall makes a HUGE difference. 50 to 100 miles south (or the the right looking down) of the eye landing is a bad place to be.
@tomtillman4650
@tomtillman4650 Год назад
You should not comment on things of which you are obviously ignorant. What you are calling polluted water is just the fresh water exiting the bays. The fresh water has tannin in it from the rivers, mangroves etc…. This happens anytime there is a massive rainfall on the gulf. It will be fine in a few weeks and is part of the natural ecosystems along the gulf.
@rcolley
@rcolley Год назад
You're right. This fresh water runoff repeats during every heavy rain event on the Florida peninsula, but, what you didn't include are the massive amount pesticides, fertilizers, raw sewage from overflowing septic fields, and petroleum waste/runoff from flooded vehicles, gas stations, etc. all washing into the gulf and associated estuaries. This "natural" runoff is one of the major causes the deadly (to marine life, that is) red tide and blue algae blooms we are constantly seeing on Florida's east and west coast over the last several years and before as well. So, to whom are you referring as ignorant?

Look at them now shredded in pieces.

She is only partially knowledgeable about the area and has no clue about the history of the islands. She obviously is from somewhere else and calling this dark area pollution is just being ignorant. @Automedon2
@Automedon2 Год назад
Now, admittedly I don't know WTF I'm talking about, but if I had a million dollar boat and was given a week's notice that a storm was headed towards it, I'd high tail it up the coast out of the projected path.
@scottt2096
@scottt2096 Год назад
Yup you are 100% correct, you don’t know WTF you are talking about…wish more people would start their comments out with this simple statement. A week before the hit, high tailing it up the coast (as you so eloquently put it) would have placed you in the projected path. The cone that you see on your local weather report there in Kansas is the cone of uncertainty. Meaning we don’t really know where we should be going. It’s part of the risk of owning a boat or anything for that matter. Easy to be on this side of the comments after the hurricane has passed through. But thanks for your thoughts Gilligan🤙.

@@scottt2096 Well, I'll tell you something I DO know. A friend is a pilot flying a private jet and EVERY private plane headed out at the warnings. Any plane left on the runway was there for service. The owners weren't risking their millions.
@scottt2096
@scottt2096 Год назад
Are you comparing the speed of a plane to that of a boat? The space of which that plane can fly and all the destinations they can go to that of a boat? Are you serious?

Just stop…it’s embarrassing.
@richardpace5809
@richardpace5809 Год назад
Exactly, they had plenty of time to get these boats to safe harbor. As a boat owner myself I would have been watching the weather for a week and either you get it out of the water and tow it north or hire somebody to go away from the storm to Louisiana or Texas. Having money doesn't equate to commen sense.Totally unnecessary piling of boats.
