Today we take a look at a first time bloomer, my recent acquisition the fragrant Aerides orchid!

The best features of this orchid are the flowers! It produces pendant, cluster like flower spikes, with yellow - purple flowers which have a wonderful citrus, lemon fragrance! It is a day time fragrant orchid and the scent is pretty powerful!

The Aerides Houlletiana is a beautiful vanda. T D Moore has one that has that vivid coloration that you mentioned . Yours still looks beautiful. It will definitely go on my wish list. Thank you for sharing & happy growing.

I have the Aerides odorata and Rhynchostylis retusa ..... both are mouthwateringly fragrant enough to fill a medium room. Danny do get the odorata you'll never regret it.

Hi Danny, I did buy a retusa and even mine arrived with bad root system. I have it in semi hydro and seems to like it very much.

I have a compact vanda hybrid: Vandachostylis Colmarie which has lovely waxy dark plum/black blooms and smells wonderful...I would compare it to Welches' grape jelly. Yum!

Hi, I would highly recommend phalaenopsis corningiana if you ever have the opportunity to own one. There are many perks to this species as the scent is amazing as it’s on the spicier side, it is free flowering year round where the flower spikes do not ever needs to be cut off just like phalaenopsis cornu-cervi and it is a slow growing phalaenopsis which is quite rare. Do give it a try if you have a chance. Cheers

would love to have this one. Sadly I don't think I'd be able to offer a vanda enough light even during summer, and the lack of humidity during winter is rather dire (around 15-18%)

Hi Danny, Has your aerides bloomed this year too? How is it doing? Does it like the basket with coca fibber? How often do you water it?

I'm gonna have an aerides odorata seedling, please give me care and tips to grow aerides. Is it ok to keep her in semi hydro?

Hi Danni. I know this question isn't related to the video but I'm hoping you will be able to answer it anyway. I have a phalaenopsis orchid that I repotted about a month or 2 ago and the leaves and flowers got really floppy and leathery. I thought it needed more water but when I started watering it more often I got fungus gnats. What should I do?

How do I remove the keikis on my aerides houlletiana? There are 2 keikis with their own roots? Thank you.
