Paper filters aren't single use. You can rinse them in water and reuse them several times :)

@BIGFOOOOOT Think you can get some extra life out of them by doing a pass or two with nothing but hot water, but that may be a little too much fuss over a coffee filter.

I still haven’t figured out the aeropress. I don’t know if I’m just using crappy coffee or if I am just grinding wrong, or wrong ratios, or wrong water temps. Or a combination of all those. I thought it was supposed to be so simple, but there is a definite learning curve. I wish there was a class to go to where I live.

Ya know, it’s surprisingly easy to get into drinkable espresso range with the aeropress. Filter in, screw on, coffee in, tamp down, filter on that puck, brew, press. Et voilà, almost professional espresso. Ratios et have to be experimented with to dial in to suit your preferences.

I make my cold brew on hot days by mixing my coffee before pressing with ice cold water for 60" instead of about 10" with water. Much faster and more control than dripping.

@ssnerd583

until they break??? i re-use the as supplied paper filters dozens of times with the same coffee.....when I switch coffee, i use a new filter, but I have rinsed and re-used, at times, the supplied paper filter at least 50x before they get holes in them.....the 350 supplied filter papers are an almost lifetime supply if re-used. I KNOW that sounds 'cheap' or whatever but once they get used a time or 2 they dont soak up nearly as much of the oils and the coffee does taste better......I've been using an AP since 2008 and almost ALWAYS doing 2 brew up/day.... so...many thousands of brew ups that way.

I've used the Able Brewing Disk Fine for quite a while (and have kept mine in much better shape) but in the last year switched back to paper filters. I like the clean cup! I was interested in the Prismo attachment, but haven't bought it yet. Thanks for sharing.

the Spresso Mezzo will actually decrease the quality of your coffee if used like a lever espresso machine, as pressing too hard compacts the bed of coffee and creates a much more bitter brew. A slow, steady press using just the weight of your arm is the optimal way to press for optimal flavor

@noahhunt8575

dosetti paper filters filter out the oils of the coffee while metals filters don’t, leaving a richer flavor. More bold.
@dosetti

@@noahhunt8575 so metal filters have no difference?
@noahhunt8575
@noahhunt8575 4 года назад
dosetti No. I literally jus- ok so I will enclose their definitions in parentheses to make sure you don’t confuse it. (Paper filter: This filters out the oils of the coffee, leaving a kind of basic cup with an almost a cleaner cup.) (Metal filter: It only filters out the grinds so there’s not bits of coffee bean in your cup. It was keep those oils from the coffee and put them into your coffee. It’s more rich, meaning like a kind of more intense coffee flavor, not stonger caffeine, just stonger flavor. You’ll have to test it out to see what I mean.

If I use the lever stand together with the fellow prismo, stamp the coffee before pouring water (just like a portafilter), put a paper filter on top so the water won’t mix with the coffee and then pull on the lever with a lot of force to get 9 bars of pressure... wouldn’t that be a sub 100$ actual lever espresso machine? Anyone who tried this?
@dylanisley4873

Can I make an espresso from an aeropress?
@WolffCoffeeRoasters
@WolffCoffeeRoasters 5 лет назад
Yessss, .. but not really. Espresso is only ever made using an espresso machine. You can have a really strong brew ratio of 1 part coffee to 2 part waters.. this will make a thick string coffee but still not as viscous or oily with the great cream of an espresso machine

Hi there, Looks good..... but, and it is a big but.... that is false crema, not crema! When the dissolved oils are forced through a single small hole, it creates a very fine bubble. This is not crema, and is used on many low-end espresso machines to make the buyer believe the machine produces a great coffee............ Aj
@WolffCoffeeRoasters
@WolffCoffeeRoasters 5 лет назад
This is true. It doesn't taste quite as strong or is as viscous as crema from an aeropress.

Spresso Mezzo .... the guy who invented the aeropress says that you don't really need to press down, that the weight of your arms is just about enough. If you have skinny light arms, you might need to press a little bit, but either way you're not supposed to rush it.
