Yo, my name is Aesop Rock I hate cops, I make em stop but the brain train wont ever drop I'm like interlocking sectors with the vector that slides off a collision course your vision's the source, of course its the source five micer mc mob striker that strikes like lighting out of the sky from hand of god ima scarda our world, swirl around your best vision of a promise land abolishing the land, I'm a Aesop Rizzle with a water pistol gleaming through the sky it dribbles like the verbal venemous spittle yall cant get it your eating kibbles and bits while ima dribble towards the shit and spit directly through the iris a Cytic liquid that flips with a mystic technique just to yes freak styles over a drum beat
Yes, teaching everyone what they may have missed if they happen to been sleeping or listening to Kayne during this re-birth of true underground hip-hop...DEFJUX
+Abdul Barcelona It should be, people dont know about the history of one of the most influential cultures in the US not that this is far away history but its history none the less and its important.
it is a certified artform...its more of an artform than taking pictures of naked children in black and white. its more of an art form than any other music you hear on the radio today. its more of an artform than taking photographs of your food. and there are/were much better than aesop...
MRAZ_LT You're most probably right i guess. But for a guy who had at least some underground succes with his shit he is quite okay i would say. The most talented guys are definitely completely unknown that is true.
naw he didnt even sound that good honestly. I like Aesop but he was off beat and you could tell he was having difficulty. some people are awesome hip hop artists but not that great at freestyling and thats ok but honestly he wasn't that good at all
He had the whole audience cracking up one time when he performed (high as fuck, btw..) Trying To Find A Balance & instead of the line "Atmosphere finally made a good record, yeah right, that shit almost sounded convincing," he replaced the word record with sandwich. haha. Slug is hysterical whenever he performs drunk &/or high, plus he Still manages to give a great performance. I'd like to see some of these new "Lil mumble rappers" do that.
Out of the guys in this video I've seen Aesop and immortal technique live, both were great. Poison pen was one of the hype men/side artists (among diabolic and others) with IT and PP was just shitfaced wiling out and stumbling around. He's a big dude too. Everyone seemed pretty pissed at him, I'm sure they were all at least buzzed but PP didn't hold it together well
It's pretty amazing how quickly Aesop grasped the new beat when it switched, started flowing to it perfectly before it even really started. Practice, man
Well back then cyphers we’re the order of the day, hence the freestyling is so effortless unlike todays tiktok rappers who couldn’t kick two lines off the top free, no memorisers here just true emcees
As someone who was (for lack of a better term) active in my local "underground hip-hop" scene in my city in the late 90s/early 00s. That rhymed in cyphers with everyone from the MOST CORNIEST of corny white boy rappers....from the actual most thugged out.. and the most corniest of the most " thugged out".. and everything in between. The One superpower THE BACKPACKERS have . Is THESE FU" KERS will rap ... literally for hours outside or in the smoking lounge of any venue.. until they get kicked out. Which kinda gives them the upper hand in most battles and cyphers. And THE UPRISE of all of these dudes in the early 00s... Meaning... def jux..rhymesayers... anticon... Project blowed..living legends.. freestyle fellowship...etc. definitely conditioned alot of us all over THE US who were cutting our teeth during that time to do the same... And IDGAF what anyone has to say ...us EMCEES who came up in that era.. no matter what style of music or rhyming we had. ALL HAD ONE THING IN COMMON.... We always had a 16 on deck.. or could freestyle....on the drop of a dime. We Def different
Aes is so untouchable. It’s incredible, you can hear everybody’s crutches they use when they can’t think of a rhyme. Aesop is in some whole other level.
It's called he has a bunch of rehearsed written stuff at the ready. That's how you go from talking about you hate cops and you make em stop to talking about shit from other galaxies....that was not 100 percent freestyle, and it's so obvious. His crutch is going into some of his written.
I remember seeing Atmosphere in 1998. The show was so small it wasn’t on the stage. It was in the lobby. They used the stairs going up to the balcony as the stage. There were a lot of breakers so the linoleum floor in the lobby actually worked well for them. They were checking ID’s at the door. It was 18 and over and there were a bunch of kids outside bummed out. I found a door in the men’s bathroom that lead out to the alley, so I let as many kids in as I could. I bought a Dynospectrum album from the merch table.
If you're thinkin it wack, it's because they're spittin lyrics that haven't been written and they're just chillin and bullshittin. It ain't no radio show.
@@B7mechanics Tell me how I spoke down to someone? I disagreed with his comment. Last I checked it was alright to disagree with someone. You must share his thoughts that these guys pre write their bars. If you think that also then you too are tripping! I was friends with Micheal Larsen “Eyedea”, look him up. He’d take your sensitivity and destroy your brittle little self.
Walking to a store around 2 am (im assuming) to get bread? Must really want that sandwhich. Or you just wanted to pass by some candy rappers..not here bro lol
@@islenyo He was not just some guy in the wrong. Don’t get it twisted dawg you really don’t know the buzz IT created in the underground before his debut
Damn this is legendary. Legends-to-be mc's cyphering together in their youth just spitting and having fun. Now that's fucking Hiphop. Wish more of these dudes kept hooking up and making music together tho
That's why underground rappers are my favorite. Most of them could care less about selling records, to them its about the community/culture, unlike mainstream rap, who turned the culture into an industry
El-P seriously sucked are you crazy, he literally just kept repeating "El dash producto.." and "Off the top tha' dome..." like 100 times, it seriously felt like a scratched CD stuck on repeat, everyone there in the background was thinking omg stfu and be done kid >.>
Damn some of the best artists right next to each other. Immortal Technique, Slug (from Atmosphere), El-P, Aesop Rock, Diablolic in the back. This is legendary right here.
im not sleeping on Rock at all. I like Rock a lot. I just think its really dope that two of my favorite MCs and my favorite producer is in the same cypher.
El-P had the beat switch 10 bars in, and was like fifth in, and still murders anyone, and his delivery and tone and rhythm and skill is so given and natural that people take it for granted and slip into a coma as if they're listening to a recording, and forget it's complete genuine freestyle.
I'm a huge fan of his, and him rolling with the switch like that is nasty, but as for the freestyle itself.. he didn't shine until the end. Now, to his credit, he was called out, and he jumped right in. Way better than I could've ever done on such short notice
I think it’s really magical when it’s organic and dudes are just having fun and it’s actually off the dome instead of something happening on a radio show that’s been rehearsed
seoulmn23 well of course EM will always be a better freestyler but. when it comes to vocabulary that's a different story. I'll love to see a collaboration with EM and Aesop Rock it will be interesting combination.
I think this shit is really fuckin' cool. I guess you could say I'm a person who is more into punk, metal, and heavy music like that, but I have a lot of respect and appreciation for this type of stuff. When it comes to rap, I'm a fan of the underground game, not so much what's on the radio. I just can't stress enough how artistic and poetic this is to just come up with something off the top of your head and make it flow and actually tell a story. This is some true talent.
Immortal Technique is the G.O.A.T. I was literally saying Aesop Rock and Immortal Technique on a track together would be the hardest shit, today I find this video of the two freestyling together. It's close enough
Immortal Technique and Aesop Rock lyrics!!! [Aesop Rock Lyrics] Yo, my name is Aesop Rock I hate cops, I make em stop but the brain train won't ever drop I'm like interlocking sectors with the vector that slides off a collision course your vision's the source, Of course it's the source five micer Mc mob striker That strikes like lightning out of the sky from hand of God I'm a scarda our world, swirl around your best vision of a promise land abolishing the land, I'm Aesop Rizzle with a water pistol gleaming through the sky it dribbles like the verbal venomous spittle Y'all can't get it your eating kibbles and bits While I'm a dribble towards the shit and spit directly through the iris Acid liquid that flips with a mystic technique Just to yes freestyle over a drum beat. [Immortal Technique Lyrics] Yo Check it out, Check it out!!! My style is original, all the cats been clone I think this cat got fucking torrid syndrome Yo, I'm make so much scream it scares a hulk Yo check it out, I'm about to turn to a werewolf cause it's the full moon But I consume rappers in a minute Yo, I talk about them all night but their families worse I call their father a faggot and he hit me with his purse, hahaha I make jokes, but I'm a socialist rebel I bring the battle down, put it in your reading level So now I leave you disheveled when I start inevitably kick Multiples cause it's so simple for me See the smilies start flowing from the top of my mind Yo I never drop diamond on my peeps So I had to do gears But I never lived in fear, I just stayed in my block And niggas got knocked and they tryna step to me I'm like the rock's choke slam you through a mothafucking chair I'm physically prepared I dare you to come close to me It's like God spoke to me one day and said freestyle for the people Because you're not equal to the sector Yo, I be a protector of lost Mc's hunted by the government I think they runnin' shit Yo, you wanna hear something raw Mississippi Better find the 15 ammendment in 1994 And don't laugh cause it's not a joke The 15 amendment guarantees the black people right to vote So now my people in the gettho feel like they be in choked And that's now it's how I rhyme for That's what I did from the start And when I start the spark you can feel it in my heart I wish I was back in 1988 chillin' in the park Cause I would've been there everyday tellin' niggas their style's gay And throwing em' off stage Freestyling meanwhile all the cats Been written and bitten in composition Kicked them in submission Stronghold in the mission.
***** bruh slug and 'em were just chillin doin a reg freestyle n then outta nowhere tech talkin bout how hes running from the governemtn lmao relax tho it was just a joke anyways
I just saw Atmosphere last month and Slug dropped one of the dopest, on the spot, fuckin beautiful freestyles ive ever heard in my life. Fuckin old man STILL has it.
Absolutely EPIC and underrated moment of HipHop history in the making! Look at that lineup..! This will be in the rap museum, and made before the days when everyone had a camera in their pocket.
Immortal Technique had that fire. Real flows from hip hop masters. Dope video, jus too bad the best flows happen when no ones there to record it, jus a cypher wit ur friends~
Immortal technique really tapped into that level, any freestyler knows that god level where once you’re in it the gold just keeps going. I can’t front, in high school I could do some pretty dope shit off the top I don’t normally hype myself up but I really spent so much time practicing and freestyling with my friends and the one who was a rapper before me was so good it inspired me to get better. Unfortunately since everyone moved away after high school, I can’t even think of the last time I freestyled so I know I’d shit the bed if I was in this situation today haha. If I had a week or maybe even just a day to practice and get back into it I’d do okay, every now and then I’ll do it driving in my car and every now and then I’ll get that hint of skill where I’ll get a dope run of lines I wish I recorded haha. But free styling alone doesn’t really have the same energy, I took high school for granted tbh
