@@arghost9798 PGR has one of the best (if not, the best) boss fights. Not because it's super hard, but because it's super stylish and fun even when they're whooping your ass instead of just running, dodging and hitting repeatedly.
I'm stuck in between lol. I like AG's character designs more but as for the art direction as a whole, PGR just has that style that you can't find anywhere else, a truly unique experience.
@@MuStCoMmEnT09 The early part of the video showcases the Year One design of Constructs, which you know, probably won't be amazing and bombastic as it is now.
@@huyle-ob8rg Ye you can definitely see how old Roland moves very stiffly and his physics literally doesn't register to reality itself considering how wonky his model and attack animations is. Now take a look at the new Roland; fluid, extravagant, cool attack animations and probably have far better physics and model.
I can't quite make a whole argument on why i think PGR is better but i can come up with a observation , PGR is more grounded and militaristic , it all combines perfectly with the setting and the art direction of the game meanwhile AG goes more on the sci-fi waifu thing and at the same time trying to blend both AK and PGR aesthethic ideas , that it gives the feeling of generic or that is trying too hard , though there are some good examples like Hades
I can see that. I mean a few of the characters from AG legit might as well have been copy pasted LOL glad I'm getting alot of different opinions, it's opening my eyes to some things. Thx 4 the comment!
I personally prefer PGR's aesthetic more. They so enthusiastically take notes from Shinkawa Yoji's more militaristic and practical designs that it's hard not to feel a little bias as a Metal Gear fan. 😂😂
YES! I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought of Yoji Shinkawa's legendary character designs. Rosetta's body from PGR really reminded me of Jehuty from Zone of the Enders, and Watanabe's Astral frame looked like Dingo's pilot suit, or Solid Snake's sneak suit.
PGR design so simple yet so unique and does not stand out too much while AG has too much detail both designs are beutifull ngl but pGrr is i like the most
Pgr cus kuro made the design’s look like they’re in a post apocalyptic world but aether gazer looks like students who are being taught how to survived the post apocalyptic world lol
Early pgr units are clearly inferior to AG but from scithe guy onward it's an uncontestable pgr W for the most part. Pgr's more militaristic/utilitarian vibe is definitely a big plus in terms of memorable chara design. AG's design have a very overdesigned anime sci fi kind of vibe to it. The redheaded spear chick at 1:19 is a great example of why i think pgr takes the cake in this comparison: she has a simple color pattern (black and white), arms are clearly mecanical and kinda look like gloves, she has a jacket that ends above the waist that you could probably wear irl, the white bodysuit isn't revealing at all, the legs are also mecanical even though they look like boots from afar only the tighs have clothing more specifically black tights. Finally the things dangling by her side have a clear purpose despite you not knowing what it is (they're rocket boosters) and they give meaning to the belts that she has which is notable because belts usually don't have a purpose in chara design. My favorite gacha in terms of chara design is arknights and more specifically arknights' npcs... Emperor's blade are russian super soldier terminator and their designed can be summed up as "tall dude with a pilot mask on, a sword on his side and a black coat" and they're sooooo fucking drip like omfg.
Something about the Aether Gazer models just seems off to me. I haven't quite been able to pinpoint it, but it's almost like AG is trying to hard, so while I like some designs... the characters just feel unnatural to me.
must be because its too anime or just copy but more detailed thingy either way it does not bother me PGR on the other hand is quite simple yet it blends to their fast paced and quite dark story because if ur their in their universe no need to style too much
Maybe because AG characters are standing the whole time? Each PGR character has unique idle moves, like, all people would move at least a little bit when standing still. While AG doesn't move at all, so it feels unnatural especially in comparison next to PGR
@@favourittee yea that's one thing I wish AG did. Cuz all the characters actually have idle animations, but you can only see them while in a stage oddly...
@@pixelatedportals Yeah, thanks man, this is why I prefer AG, 😭 there is no other Fire Sword Boy thats a DPS but Kagu in every Hack & Slash RPG Game so far
The choice was made by the gacha system for me.... I was already not happy with the models in AG, the faded animation of the battle and the overall combat system, the interface... the music... of the unequivocal pluses, only the animation during the dialogues But when I spoiled PGR with the possibility of 100% getting a character (now I thought that I would pull out SSS Bianca - Abystigma, most likely with its 6 * weapons and CUB), instead of Jin-ei I liked somehow, I got a four-armed devil that ... the game is already left immediately If your game is worse in many respects than that of your opponents, maybe you don’t need to tighten the screws to get characters of interest? this is kind of absurd...
I can agree, pgr's gacha is probably the best I've seen but you'll also have a part time job doing weeklies to guarantee it. AG's weapon banner is way better than PGR as well so it isn't just bright lights and rainbows in kuro land. Also Kotachi is a free unit why are you pulling for her my guy? loll
I play both but honestly when it comes to character design there's only like 2 interesting characters in PGR for me so far, AG on the other hand started the same earlier but I quickly fell in love with the some of the character designs and the overall aesthetic afterwards
Aesthetics will prefer PGR for its more militaristic feel. However, PGR's movement set design is what truly separates it from the other gacha games. Just look at Pulao's and Hyperreal's move sets in slow motion.
Aether Gazer seems to lean more into the "High Sci fi" aesthetic. Designs that are visually striking, plenty of bright colors and accents, the technology also seems to be more over the top, like the four mech arms. PGR is more grounded and militaristic, "function over form", tactical accessories, exposed cybernetics and armor. They don't overexaggerate the designs and keep it simple. Both have their own unique take though.
Nice observation 😀 AG's setting is in a virtual world, everything's happening in a shared virtual reality so guess it makes sense that it's a little over the top.
I personally think aether gazer actually take character from PGR making it look better to Over take PGR 😢I am not happy with that 😮 Over most characters actually look similar to PGR characters not going to lie😅even changing the look of each character not trying to look the same as PGR CRAB🙁
@@2yuthmey700 no actually, it's not better than PGR in any parts of the game, PGR animation is more fluid and ofcourse PGR combat sa very much refined and looking at the new characters coming like Hyperreal, Balter, and Alpha, there is no way that AG can compete
It's hard to compare Rosetta to any other character honestly. It's very unique, but I love to use of lower parts being so robotic and full of wires cuz of her being centaur hybrid before
I like both, I think, I like the clean feeling of the pgr characters and it fits well with them... as a more palpable feeling. In AG, the design is more like "made to sell" I think that's the best way to describe it, which is good too, since it's a gacha game after all.
I can't quite shell AG, but I love PGRs more grounded look. It just seems, like something you could actually wear IRL to stand out, but not look like a complete color candle.
Normal pgr designs are simplistic and more on function then beauty, Which make sense as they are in war no time to look pretty. But then we have the skins which go all out on beauty which also make sense coatings are mostly used outside of work like when they were on the beach and such, Coatings were meant to make constructs look good and are the clothing equivalent for them.
@@pixelatedportals Nope, I still play obscure games, heck even my favorite gacha is technically a dead game. I'm just stating facts about the game's revenue. AG just can't compete with the current players in the market. There's not much reason for an HI3 or PGR player to switch games.
I mean... there might be some truth to what you say but that's the same for gaming period. There's always going to be competition. AG already has people's curiosity up. They just need to learn from their mistakes and keep making the game better and I'm sure the AG community will thrive.
PGR dor Darker Side for me if you said Dark Fantasy or Dark Fiction for the game PGR is suitable. Also Unique how Rosetta looks idk why every game had their copy paste character..
I don't know Men, but i'm sorry if I being rude, butt Sometimes i feel Character Design on Aether Gazer was copying PGR Design, Especially on No.21, Damn that was so similar
You're not wrong. That was atleast one of the reasons I made this video, saw hella similarities. I don't really see it as a bad thing necesarily. We can see the same in alot of other games as well. As long as a company can prove that they can be creative and stand on their own then I don't see anything wrong with getting inspiration from other games.
As someone who doesn't play both games (yet i'm waiting for pc release on pgr but if aether gazer releases on pc i'd also be interested) it's a bit hard to decide. I think the quality on Aether Gazer simply looks a bit better / more smooth. In terms of the design alone, seeing similar characters in direct comparison, honestly it's sometimes one and sometimes the other for me. Can't really pick a favorite there. So due to the better looking quality (imho) Aether Gazer gets a slight W from me at least. (1:05 for PGR and 1:31 for Aether Gazer are my favorites. Yes. I love whiteish hair)
PGR gives the vibe of dark sci fi , has dark color & AG gives like modern era sci fi with bright color. Character design is almost same to more in both. M Its the the color that makes their vibe different.
The only thing that bothers me is that in the PC launcher PGR's character models have nothing to envy to AG's in terms of graphic quality specially the newer ones look fantastic in my dedicated GPU (I guess this video is too old for that). I can't say I prefer PGR over AG because I have never played AG, someday I will try it out but recently I have felt kind of satured with too much Gacha games trying to snatch my attention, I don't even want to install it, but maybe someday. However PGR is one of those gacha games that I really enjoy playing.
Looking back on this: AG has objectively more detailed models and designs. Higher poly counts, transparent materials, good use of bloom and bumpmaps, etc. In a screenshot, it's easy to determine that AG is a relatively newer game than PGR. PGR has objectively better animations and skeletons. Besides idle animations, you can tell from the slight jiggle of hair / chest that each model in PGR is designed to take advantage of physics-based animation as well. A huge layer of personality is already visible from the get-go. AG has neither of these visible from idle menus, so characters tend to feel a bit more doll-like. I'm partial to the details on AG's clothes, but PGR overall feels more cohesive to the characters when you have unique faces and the seamless marriage of faux-organic robotics and a variety of fashion (techwear for Gray Raven, Victorian-styled doll clothing for Nanami / 21 / Bianca, tight leather and a muzzle for Camu). Kuro's artists take their characters seriously, which I appreciate.
@@pixelatedportals The character next to 21 for example. She looks a lot like Herta from Honkai Star rail. The Char next to Veritas remindes me of Bronya (a bit) And the Char next to Bianca (Physical), looks like Otto from Honkai impact.(Maby a bit of Gilgamesh from Fate) Those were just a few examples
Man after watching this I think AG is trying too hard to make unique characters but ends up making the most generic characters ever. Like none of them stands out. And comparing them to the earliest characters like Bianca, Sophia and Lotus and Alpha makes me wanna appreciate them more. Honestly speaking AG is good but definitely not for me. Edit: that flying character with green hair looks like a copy of Luna ngl.
I've said before, it's obvious that AG is taking inspiration from pgr, that's why i made this video because it was interesting to me. I had intention to show the similarities. Whether thats a negative or positive thing is up to the viewer. But most see it as negative unfortunately. Me personally, theres nothing wrong with taking inspiration from somewhere. We see that in the gaming industry all the time. Theres nothing wrong As long as you make it your own, and AG has definitely proved itself that they can make top tier designs as well. I play cn though so I know future characters only get better and better.
For me PGR has a consistency with how they structure the character models, the designs are a combination of subtle references, yet they look very unique. AG I'm a bit conflicted, but there are only characters which I find aesthetically pleasing. Unlike PGR tho, I don't see the identity of the AG from the characters because of several inconsistencies with how they're designed structurally and in detail. (I get the main concept but it feels like they're characters taken from different games) I also have problems with some of the characters facial structure as it's not properly scaled, in fact many things aren't properly scaled. Lastly there are just features that don't go well with the characters "vibe," It's like a failed attempt, trying to design something unique.
PGR design stands out for me way more than AG. Kinda reminded me kf Arknights's chara design, but edgier, grittier, darker, have more cyberpunk futuristic's vibes, dystopic, and industrial.
it looks like a copy on the first impression however aether gazer but it became better eventually but tbh aether gazer characters look very generic, they look like some random characters that i would forget after a few minutes the main point of aether gazer have to find their own style that attract players like pgr we have transparent belly and thighs on rosetta
For me the combat and team building is how aether gazer sets itself apart. I hate they delayed it but I guess it's good because they do have some tough competition.
I would say Aether copied, genshin impact, and honkai star rail . the ultimate and animation for abilities, are inspired from genshin. and the maps look like starrail. Gameplay on aether is imo more similar to genshin with 3 buttons.
Interesting! I haven't heard of that. PGR has very unique combat for sure but lately, I love what they're doing with Aether Gazer especially with the last few characters(Thor, Anubis, Oceanus). Like you say, it's not too ground breaking or unique from other action rpgs but I feel the team-building and character customization is very well done.
@feqi1973 Do you think AG is dead in China? I understand the many issues. We do get characters too often, it would be nice to save currency. But I feel the currency we get is at a way more higher rate then pgr. We still have 50/50 to worry about though... alot of global players have been concerned about how AG has been received in China, is it as bad as you say?
Maybe it's because i've played PGR so much, but i like AG designs more. While militaristic design looks nice and unique at first, it will quickly feel bland since there's not much to catch my eye, and playing for a long time using bland colors will get your eyes numb. Also, PGR needs max brightness to play, since everything on the screen is so dark (including character, stage background, enemies) like DC movies. It's also hard to keep an eye on my character's movements, since every color is dark and bland, so i don't even know how my characters move when attacking the enemy, i just rely on my ears to keep track on how much i hit/get hit by the enemies. It seems i'm the only one here who likes AG design more😅
you're not alone I like AG designs more as well loll but I think the main reason the majority of people like pgr better is 1.PGR really do have good designs. 2. most ppl that commented has no experience with AG, so ofcourse they would pick whats familiar. If AG was already released globally I honestly think we'd see more on AG's side. PGR would still prevail in the end cuz AG is new, but it wouldn't be so overwhelmingly on PGR's side. Ppl may disagree with me but I really think familiarity has something to do with it.
Well that's PGR for ya... It's either 80% black with any colour or 80% white with any colour. As for environment it's just look like post apocalyptic abandoned planet supposed to be. Bland? Maybe but I'm diggin it
imo, AG's design can really be generic, lifeless and cringe sometimes. What I like about PGR is how the some of the female characters aren't "that" overly sexualized and you can immediately see that each model/character has their personality even with such simple design. AG makes so much detail to the point it just looks like a bunch of messy clutter and throw in oversized boobas and call it a day.
The game is made by yostar, of course it's gonna be horny. Lately, pgr start making horny design too. Look at selena, vera, alpha skins and up coming characters.
I see this as less copying and more there has to be certain archetypes in every game with anime graphics. And the nature of anime graphics makes it harder to include more details.
Yea I'd say the same archetypes are reused over and over alot but... you can't say that AG developers didn't take inspiration from PGR. Theres obvious signs here. Is that a bad thing? No. Because AG's designs are still original, and still very good designs. I just found it interesting, my intentions were never to prove that one game was better then the other, or to insult any game over the other, I love both games.
These games are great so why choose when u can play both...why do people always compare...i dont give a shit about the small details as long as im having fun playing..
A quick look at the comment section will bring you to the answer to that question. Vids like this tend to instigate the more undesirable sides of communities from whatever 2 games the video is comparing.
@E a quick look at the comment section will show you there's no bashing of any sort going on. I've played both of these games for years, I don't even do content like that, if anything I send games praise not negativity or drama so you can take that accusatory tone to some other random youtubers video.
