This was a very interesting video. I personally believe that the travelers were summoned by Kaneriah since they were rebelling against Celestia, and I'm pretty sure that Nibelung has been pulling the strings behind the scenes, the only missing part we have regarding the cataclysm is whether Kaneriah released the monsters of the abyss that they were making, or they simply got outta control, I do feel that those abyssal monsters were their trump card against Celestia, but still weren't match the unknown god and archons. As for the siblings it's already clear that they were both summoned to Kaneriah but the traveler wasn't awake at the time, once the cataclysm happened the sibling rushed to wake the traveler and leave teyvat , but they were stopped by the sustainer, the sibling was placed elsewhere in teyvat while the traveler's power was sealed and again he wakes up after 500 years ago. The sibling isn't a descender cuz her will isn't enough to create/sustain/reshape/destroy the world, in other terms her will cannot rival the world, unlike aether, hence why she sought the abyss or the other way around cuz at least she still has her powers from 500 years ago, so she needs a back up from the entity in the crystal whom the hilitchurls worship. Lastly, I believe that teyvat in itself is closed to the outside world because they fear the honkai which destroys worlds, whoever is in Celestia is from honkai Impact 3rd or honkai star rail, their aim is to preserve or recreate humanity and make them develop to a level that matches the design the honkai is requiring or something like that.
In lore: Khaenri'ah mages were summoning people and giving them task to find abyss perl. Thats how we have abyss queen (basically BP cutscene) And it is comfirmed in game that twins also were summoned by them. We have no information why other sibling dropped in different place (I think witches or other powerfull entity were manipulating summoning to prevent them both getting to Khaenri'ah) In we will be reunited trailer we see that Lumine running through spiral abyss to old mondstadt to see catastrophy and later coming back to that place to see her brother. I guess spiral abyss has connection to Khaenri'ah and it was safe path before cataclism.
About preventing people from leaving, the Abyss Order seem to have no problems teleporting out into the Abyss. At this point, I think the Sustainer wanted the siblings specifically to stay. And she made sure to disguise herself (not even old gods like Venti and Zhongli recognize the Traveler's description, even though she was, apparently, present in the Cataclysm, as were her battle cubes) and to antagonize the siblings by separating them. I am not sure what her plan is. Probably to stop the "arrogation of mankind" by unleashing two superhuman world-travelers on it, but what exactly is that "arrogation"?
good subject. I think it's tied to fate Phanes will was stronger than Aether and Lumine I think this is another nod to the idea that everything is fractured within Theyvat. So the sustainer of heavenly principles is just another part of Phanes. Creating an impossible reality " A shining shade" this statement is illogical and cannot happen. Shade is by definition darkness and can never shine. But somehow it did and it's tied to the war in Khaenri'ah. But I have no clue really my best guess is that it's tied to the Seelie that fell in love with a traveller. The Seelie would in this instance represent the light and the traveller the shade the darkness. This is in essence the genesis story were they basically replaced the snake with the traveller and the Seelie with Adam/Eve. It's also possible that they go with the Lilith version. Were Lilith was Adams first wife not Eve and he was made from the same clay as Adam, this fits with the fact that they can interpret each others memories. "Lilith left Adam after she refused to become subservient to him and then would not return to the Garden of Eden after she had coupled with the archangel Samael.[16]" The Arch Angel would in this case be symbolic with the Abyss. What Genshin usually does is taking a concept from religious fringe theories and replacing names, but keeping the core story if that makes sense? I am far from convinced that the seelie is Columbina I think it's the traveller that you do not pick. This would be the reason why she/he loses descender status and creates this whole mess. Celestia has one rule above all never create a species other than your own. It's for that reason that Egeria's people were cursed for trying to create humans out of Primordial water. If Heaven crumbled the moment a traveller fell in love with a godly being, that would be the reason. However Neuvilette has just proven that he defy that verdict once again proving that Dragons are not to be trusted, and I don't think Celestia is going to sit idle any longer. Yes in that instance it was just to free them but Neuvilette does not have all the information. That storyline is far from over.
You can see the starry shapes behind the sustainer in the scene pop up reddish in colors then they turn gold but still tainted, that is why they're called shinning shades. If you wanna imagine a shining shade, you can visualize a dark figure that is surrounded by a shining aura, the figure is so dark that the aura cannot illuminate him. It's kinda like a black hole, you see a black mass surrounded by a light ring .
@_O_Xx blackholes are pretty much illogical they are unexplained by math, it was a good analogy but it did not refute my statement I am afraid. But I did like it and I think you are onto something. I think they are taking these phenomena's but humanizing them instead. If you take it further what Sustainer did would be the equivalent of going back in time all tho I think the previous timeline still exist, which is another issue. I think the Archon war happened and has not happened at the same time. So the plot of the game is going towards it, but the characters in the game think it's the past. This is hinted by Focalors "The history of the future is the future's past" I don't think she is allowed to say it out loud, but Focalors is a bit of a rebellious god so she most def wanted to hint something to Neuvilette.
I bet Phanes is the same entity like Herrschers from HI3 or Eons from HSR It is godly entity which is powered by beliviers. Celestia dont like Khaenri'ah people cuz they believe in Phanes and hate "false gods" Celestia dont want Phanes become power once again so they hide any information about him and kill anyone who learn the truth. (Orobashi for example) And all that "false sky" is not about sky cuz we pretty know that universe exist outside of Teyvat (hello Whale) but about Celestia being fake godhood. I mean fatui know the truth (at least Dottore so I guess all of them) thats why they want to bring "the old world" with Phanes and kill false gods. Also I think abyss twin taking part in their plan being "spy" in abyss cuz if they will destroy Celestia no one will help them versus abyss so they need some plan to regulate this problem
That door certainly looks impressive enough to be important to the story. I guess sooner or later, our journey will lead us to Kaenri'ah, to uncover the truth of the Cataclysm from the source, not from unreliable interviews with archons.
Well... to answer where the Travelers come from... is there an equivalent to the Travelers in HoYos other games? That could give us some insight to these characters ;)
There's no indication that the Traveler was summoned anywhere. Scaramouche only talks about the Sibling being summoned. He's talking directly to the Traveler but he doesn't say "you were summoned". Nor does he say "you lived with the Jester for a while in Khaenri'ah". Just the Sibling.
Well, no. Firstly the Traveler says there was no sense of them coming to this world for any special reason. Secondly because the game is an isekai essentially, a summoning means something like you appear in glowy magic circle and the dude asks you to defeat the demon king and not so much someone sends you a letter in the mail and you decide to go. @@kotarouinugami1745

I will point out that the Abyss Sibling started appearing in the Irminsul during their time in Khaenri'ah, a nation known to make clones, and to summon souls from the Abyss to put into artificial bodies they built for them. Combine that with how they seem to identify Khaenri'ah as their homeland, and it's possible that the Abyss Sibling isn't a Descender because they are actually a clone of the *actual* missing sibling, and thus a native to Teyvat, and the missing sibling is still unaccounted for, and might be active behind the scenes, still in stasis, or the Third Descender whose body was used to make the gnoses because of their ability to resonate with all seven elements. And in that last case, the implication is that one of the Archons (probably Venti, considering all his narrative ties to Khaenriah) let Khaenri'ah study their gnosis to make that clone in the first place.
Better theory: the twins are actually from Teyvat originally. They're the heirs to the "unified civilization" that once spanned all of Teyvat, during the period of time no gods walked the land at all. Both were sent away for some time, not returning until the last remnant of that civilization (Khaen'riah) summoned them back. Reminder: we find out in Fontaine's Narrzzizenkreuz world quest that to be a Descender, you must possess a will that rivals the whole world.
Your train of thought gets intrestingly close to the dark forest theory. And if we take the terms "dark forest" literally, wasn't there some dark forest involved in that book about the night mother?
Something to note about descenders, the title of descender is given to individuals whose will rivals that of the entire world. The sibling having data in Irminsul can be explained as Irminsul is able to be manipulated and they have had a longer history on Teyvat, but the traveler being a descender and the sibling not is a result of their will, and for some unknown reason the traveller's sibling does not have the will of a descender, which may be why they're trying to ally with the abyss.
Nahida was only created after the Cataclysm started. Probably close to the end of the events of the Cataclysm. And it probably took her a few more years until she became clever enough to be able to do something like that.
Wait hold, where is this idea from that only one sibling was awake upon arrival? Also fun fact--- I don't think we ever *SEE* who those shooting stars are. Yeah, it could be just Aether and Lumine, case closed. But I find it a bit sus that Genshin never showed us this. We never saw them transform from stars into twins, so imagine if one or both shooting stars are not who we think they are. Genshin just let us think we knew cause that's implied it but it could be a trick (or not, but I'm just saying)
In reference to another person's comment that mentioned how Khaenri'ah was known for making clones and summoning souls placed in artificial bodies- this opens up the possibility that our sibling is in fact a descender, specifically the Third Descender. It's possible they were summoned by Khaenri'ah but then died at some point while we were separated/sleeping. After they died, their body along with the sovereigns' authorities were used to create the gnoses, so it's possible that Khaenri'ah created a clone of them and their memories through the Art of Khemia and the result was the person who we now know as the "Abyss Sibling". This could explain why Irminsul had records of our sibling "suddenly appearing in Khaenri'ah" despite supposedly being not from Teyvat. Initially, we knew of Descenders as simply outsiders and they cannot be recorded in Irminsul. Since the Abyss Sibling had records in Irminsul, they were not classified as one. But like I said, perhaps the real reason the Abyss Sibling isn't classified as descender and is a native to Teyvat is because they are a clone of the original who had died a long time ago, and we are not aware of it because the traveler has been asleep when that happened. On top of that, they didn't possess the same will that rivaled the world like the original did, which is why they had to turn to the power of Abyss to have a chance against Celestia. And as for why the Fatui is collecting the gnoses, it might be so that the Abyss Sibling can get the descender powers that the original possessed. But they could also be using it to return the authority to the sovereigns. This might be a huge stretch coming from me because I'm not fully sure about the timeline in which all of the important events had happened. I just think it's still a possibility due to how old the Travelers were hinted to be. But if this ends up being true, then my mind is surely gonna be blown away.
I think you are exactly right! I also do believe the Hexenzirkel summoned the twins and have known who they are. Mona has talked about the old hag and even called her a visionary, so yeah. I also believe that the Hexenzirkel has a lot to do with what’s going on in Teyvat as we speak. When skirk said about us beating up the narwhal, how did she know that unless she was watching us. Everyone is watching us! My thoughts on our Abyssal twin, I think the Hexenzirkel, and Dainsleif choose them to go down a different path and join the Abyss to motivate us to travel through Teyvat fixing issues along the way. They know if we make friends and make connections that we will want to save Teyvat and everyone in it. When we went to Fontaine, I feel as it was a setup, meeting Lynette. It just seemed so obvious they wanted to meet the traveler. Making friends with Lyney and Lynette made it easier for Arlecchino to weave herself into meeting the traveler to be able to work with us. Because we all know how it work out with La Signora, Childe, and Dottore. If we go back and think about the beginning when the first usurper came and then second who came there was a Great War and Teyvat was almost destroyed so they all know what an outlander can do and how strong they are. I don't think so. The siblings were teleported by the sustainer of principles both of them ended up in Tevyat. Also, the one that is the leader of the abyss order was teleported first, and then the traveler, which could explain why the traveler woke up 500 years later.
