Makes perfect sense to have Jericho as their first champion heading into their weekly TV show. He's their biggest name and most recognisable wrestler by far. If any casual wrestling fan, or anyone with a remote interest in wrestling, hears about Jericho being a promotions champion their interest will be peaked, you tell those same fans Hangman Page is the champion and majority of them won't know him or care to tune in to see what it's all about. You entice in your audience with a recognisable face, then get that audience hooked on the characters on the show. You then build up and eventually pass the title onto a babyface your viewers have invested in. Good business sense.

Jericho winning the title against Page was the only right choice. Forget that he's more known to get lapsed fans watching the upcoming tv show, Page is just not viewed as a top guy yet by a lot of people. His stock rose with the feud with Jericho and that's exactly what you can use Chris for: to elevate his opponents. Having a heel champion with a face chasing the title makes for a better story than a face defending his championship as well.

My finisher would be the “Smirnoff effect” cus every shot seems to multiply after 5 minutes, but you don’t think it’s taking effect so you start hammering it down, and then about 5 - 10 minutes later you pass out, just like the finisher.

Jimmy Havoc is literally insane. When I saw it the first time,it just made the match „bad“ for me. It was a cool performance by everyone and Jimmy Havoc looked more than just „strong“,but please,for the love of god:Jimmy shouldn‘t try to kill himself for real,I was scared to hell 😳😥

exactly. I see it as AEW countering NXT on USA. now we have Superstar Chris Jericho at the man atop the mountain to bring in the Attitude/Ruthless fans that walked away years ago. Also it gives Jericho one last MASSIVE arc before retiring.

Really don't get negativity towards Jericho winning, Hangman hasn't felt like enough of a main eventer, it's better for the mainstream attention heading into the tv show, Jericho is still a top wrestler who will be around full time and it's good to have an established main event talent as your first champ, when he loses it whoever beats him will feel like a much bigger deal

It was far too early to put the belt on Page He doesnt feel like the top guy yet and putting the belt on him wouldnt have helped, wouldve devalued the title Maybe if he had that match with PAC he mightve seemed more legit but unfortunately that fell through and he had basically done nothing going into the title match So then who else do you put it on if not Jericho?? Moxley: injured, former WWE Champ Cody: Do you really book yourself as world champ out the gate?? PAC: Former WWE guy, wasnt available till All Out Shawn Spears: Former WWE guy, not built up as a top guy yet MJF: Same problem as Hangman Omega: ....... ok so the answer is almost definitely Omega. I have to say, being a long-time WWE watcher, I really get excited about these deathmatch style bouts that AEW have shown... but at the same time, I cringe away from half of what happens (like the thumbtacks in the mouth), and fear for the wrestlers that put themselves through these sorts of matches That said, I still don't understand how Cody (and in this case, Shawn) get away with whipping the opponent with a belt right in front of the ref with no disqualifications. Surely that's using an outside object/weapon... Which is even more confusing when the ref insistently takes Cody's belt off Tully, only to allow Shawn to use a metal-buckled belt instead.

Loved the show but 3 issues: 1)Theme music is terrible, and entrance videos are usually just stills and lifeless. Only Jericho and Cody are exempt from this, everyone else needs something new, even if it is just new music or some sort of video package 2) Camera and video work during matches still suck, missing spots and such. Need to work that out before TNT. To be fair, the hype packages are pretty good. 3) HATE the Casino Royale format, having 5 people walk out at the time, when for most of them it's a first time for the fans, really hard to tell who is who. Royal Rumble, at least we get a entrance regardless how long they are in the ring.

Hindsight is 20/20. And with Hindsight Cardiff was leagues better than All Out. The Bate v Walter match was a near perfect match that was not even close to being equaled on this card

Anyone else a bit disappointed with the AEW shows so far? Page has been a massive letdown so far, the shows have been so long that the main events are suffering for it, the Bucks are putting on great matches but I'm finding it difficult to enjoy them with some of the unbelievably stupid and dangerous spots they're doing, there's far too much "kookiness" and over the top gesturing and stupid comedy stuff, the cards in general have felt inconsistent at best and even Omega's not putting on anything like the classics he was a year ago, even though he's being paired with fantastic wrestlers and presumably with full creative control of his matches. Like, everyone shits on WWE and how AEW's the 'alternative' product and how it'll save us from monotony or whatever, but NXT is consistently shitting all over anything AEW have done so far, and it's not even close. Hopefully the weekly show will bring more to the product, but I really don't think AEW's shows have been all that, to be honest.
