I appreciate the video. You convinced me to pick up both the AFE Momentum GT Intake and Throttle Body Spacer. I also went with the Dual Side exit Cat Back exhaust from AFe with black tips for my 2019 Platinum Tundra. Love the sound and performance from this combination. That being said, I do have a question. The CAI outlet into the fender well doesn't snug up and is about a 1/2 inch shy of even entering the fender well. The previous stock filter housing had an inlet tube connected to the intake housing box. I tried to remove it and it would not budge (thinking maybe I could adapt it somehow to prevent the gap). Any thoughts on this? Modification? Maybe something like some insulation tape to put around the housing and eliminate the gap? My intake has more of a whine sound like a supercharger than a deep pull.
Sorry for the delay, I appreciate you trusting my judgement! I just looked at mine and its about a 1/8 in from the fender hole but still sounds pretty deep. I would try some tape and see what happens. Thanks
Hey Brian - Thank you for the video! I grabbed both of these from aFe and just installed them on Saturday in my 2018 Platinum Tundra. Your video made more sense than the paper instruction included. A couple questions, after adding the new throttle body spacer it was very tight putting it all back together and I had to fight with it a bit to get it seated to get the bolts through. How did you torque them down? I don’t have a torque wrench that torques that low ft lbs. The other thing I had some issue with was the supplied extended hose. I literally pushed so hard I nearly farted trying to push it on the 3 way coupler on top of the engine. I’m still not sure I have it on all the way, but I literally cannot move it anymore. Was yours difficult to put on? Initial reaction is I do notice a difference when accelerating and can hear it gulp air! It gets up to speed faster for sure. We shall see with the fuel economy.
Thanks for watching! It was tight going back together, I didn't torque to spec either, I used a 1/4 drive ratchet and small extension and went around them twice. I put a small amount of silicon on that hose to help slide it on. As long as its not leaking you should be fine. Where you able to take advantage of AFEs black Friday pricing?
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS Great Thanks for the tips! I did indeed take advantage of the Black Friday pricing! I got an email yesterday from aFE and you are featured in it. Good stuff!
I'd love to hear what it sounds like with the plug. I hate that intake sound personally. I'm also curious if the space actually improved the HP/TQ numbers. Did you by chance do before/after dyno runs or are then numbers you provided from AFE?
I have this Cai throttle body spacer no cats 2.5 inch tubing flowmaster 10 series mufflers out to 4 inch tips and bullydog gt tuner. Truck is stupid fast
Sounds good Brian. Gotta tell you tho ... since I have no mechanical skills at all I was sh@ting bricks watching you take your brand new truck apart!!😬 I know you’re a pro and can do this in your sleep but it still made me nervous. Can you turn it in at lease end with the mods or do you have to put it back to original? Great video and super nice Tundra!!
Thanks Michael, I am used to adding accessories and modifying new trucks from my time at Ford. You can turn it in modified but I plan to remove everything or sell it before the lease is up.
Great video Brian! Can you tell me what the "part number" is for the AFE Momentum GT Intake on your 2021 Tundra? I would love to see you do a video on a trifold Tonneau Cover for the Trail Edition 5.5 ft. bed. How did the truck handle on your dirt bike trip to the Hatfield & Mccoy Trails in October?
part# for the intake 54-76003 and throttle body spacer 46-38005. AFE is having a black Friday sale 25% off. I am planning to do a roll up cover soon. It handled and rode great, I was pretty impressed.
I will have a few options when the time comes. I can just leave it on, I could remove it and sell it. I could just buy the truck and keep it or buy the truck to resell it. Tundras usually have equity half way through the lease.
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS Wow! 2MPG increase! That would make this mod totally worth it along with even better throttle response. Maybe it really does give you 20 extra HP.
any plans of adding a tuner? I have a 5.7 myself only performance done so far is a cat back dual Flowmaster. I have a few videos of it on my channel and would be thrilled with another subscriber! thank you for all info
ah I see I was on the afe website this morning and I saw a couple listed but didn't notice on the years. Was choosing between the afe and the trd pro intake.. thanks for the sub that is too funny on the dirt bikes and rcs are you an arrma guy or traxxas?
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS I suggest an arrma on the 6s line it will blow your expectations for an rc out of the water! do you have any insight on the trd intake over the afe?
Now you need a bigger exhaust cam gear, high performamce coil packs, E3 spark plugs, headers, exhaust, new straight bigger fuel lines and an engine tune then you will see a massive gain in mpg!!
