Here’s my one week review on the AFE scorcher power mod. If you missed the install video I put out last week check it out here: • 2021 Ford F-250 6.7L P...
After 10 months, I don’t use it anymore. The truck limits the torque big time from 1st to 5th gear and the AFE does not help at all. so I’m Keeping the truck stock and using sport mode through the traction control to help out the power down when I need it (on trails).
I called Banks and their new Derringer which is used with the iDash is in the final stages of certification for emission standards. The last Derringer was incredible with great gains, they told me that the new one is even better. But I really like is that if the tuner malfunctions or the truck for some reason in the middle of driving rejects the input from it than it shuts itself off, displays the malfunction and the truck immediately and seamlessly reverts back to factory input. On the Banks website it showed and tested all the other inline tuners, and when all the other tuners failed it would stall the truck. These trucks are 80K plus and I want the biggest safety net I can get when I start tuning it.
Just installed one on my 22 and can't get it to work right. It'll start going through the 4 modes on its own and making the truck run weird. Did you have any issues at all?
Yeah. I had issues with it big time. It was throwing high pressure fuel codes every time I got on it when I was teasing heavy. I also didn’t really notice any gains at all. Really hindered the use ability of my truck when I needed it. Ripped that sucker out one day have never looked back. When I need more power, I just put it in sport mode. Double tap the traction control, and you are in sport mode. Definitely not looking at any other engine performance mods as I’m keeping my truck stock so it works when I need it I do hear good thinks about Banks. Check the comment section below as some guys are into it. Return that thing asap!
I am thinking of getting this for my 2021 KIA Forte GT. It looks really good and would def boost the car. Still thinking of getting it though and its affordable really.
No clue about the Kia. Assume they program Two different ways. I don’t use this power mod anymore. Threw to many codes on my truck when I was towing. Cheers
@@tcr2237 fair I’m just doing my due diligence before I go this route with my car. It’s been modded as is and it works fine so I’m contemplating this at the moment
@@andrewperbegloo6219 awesome, good luck finding a good programmer. I used an AFE tuner on one of old my gas trucks and it worked without issues. Just a no go on my diesel.
How is this set of working for you now that you’ve had it for a couple of months? Any issues or anything? I’m thinking about installing one on my truck
Power is great. But threw codes when I was towing a 15K LB. Load. It was a high pressure fuel rail code. Truck went into limp. And I pulled over turned off truck and restarted. Back on the road, got home then reset my check engine light. No more issues though I got this for towing. I was towing under the lowest setting above stock per AFE. So I now tow in stock setting. Kinda pointless to get this. Maybe removing and just going with a throttle commander.
@@tcr2237 Thank you so much for your honesty. I would be using for the exact same reason and do not want to deal with any codes. I swear the rep at AFE said on the phone yesterday that I would be fine towing on any of the 4 settings and I specifically stated the purpose for using it would be for towing.
@@donniezahner5744 you welcome! ya… I would be carful. I was pushing my truck hard when it threw the code. Check American trucks.com. I left a more detailed description in the issue. Damn truck stock is a monster though!
@@shogun4200 I don’t use it (AFE) at all anymore. Im having some engine idling issues and stalling issues so I am just running stock for now. I’m probably just gonna remove the AFE tuner and keep my truck stock. The truck is so torque limited from first gear to fifth gear you don’t really even feel the power difference anyways… You can always put the truck in sport mode through traction control and that really puts more power to the ground.
Talking about the scorcher-Delete would be a nice way of saying it. Rip it out is more like it. Damn wire harnesses had a short in it. I need reliability so I will not be doing anymore. Stock exhaust to keep it quite. Couldn’t tell ya about mileage as speed and hills could be the difference of 15 mpg to 21 mpg on the truck.
