@@AbundantLivingEcuador Haha. I'm sure you can use your video wizardry skills to make it look like he's in Vilcabamba sitting at a cafe talking about how Trump is going to win and save the world 😄
@@AbundantLivingEcuador more rural. It’s definitely a family that grows the fruit they sell in their tienda. In Quito lately most tiendas are selling avocados for between 3 for $1 to 50 cents a piece. It’s definitely an item that went up in price and will probably continue to do so because of increasing fertilizer costs and climate instability, and because Ecuador is now exporting a greater percentage of their avocado harvest.
Thanks to share about all the living life in Ecuador a wonderful country and cheaper than Georgia USA greeting to you!! LOJA is my city that I was born is considered the land of the best coffee and bread to taste
Fun fact. The cows that graze on the steep hillsides have evolved and adapted. The legs on the downhill side are longer. With legs on one side shorter the animals will work their way around the hill in a prefered direction. Counterclockwise for the izquirdalarga breed and clockwise in the izquerdacorta vaca. Farmers usually choose one over the other wanting to avoid collisions. That or placing them at different altitudes on the steep mountian side. Some say the meat derived from the izquirdalarga is tougher because of the coriolus effect near the equator. I tend to doubt that, sounds too much like another Vilcabamba fantasy.
The ecuadorian red meet is healthier than US. Most of the shoes are not make locally , seller will never tell us the origin. They come from Trujillo , Perú the shoes factory of Sourh America. They make whatever we ask including 'hecho en Ecuador' label.
Cow tongue is not very popular in the United States nowadays. But it was not too exotic when I was a kid 60 years ago: cow tongue with mustard on rye was my mother's favorite sandwich!
So great to see a tour video with so many great local places to visit and the prices for all the services and products! Very thoughtful video! Hope your family has a great visit!
The wind shield was cheap...I see you're in control of the language and all the markets....I really admire your videos from my birth nation...You are doin great over there in Loja.... Excellent video....
Been to that mercado when I was in Loja, love it. Had no idea there was parking under the market. Feed my dogs chicken feet, they LOVE it and it is cheap.
Been in that market many times. You can get anything there from a haircut to furniture. The Mercado near the grand portal in Loja is excellent as well…more like a farmers market.
Thanks for the comment. You're absolutely, right! I have gotten haircuts in this market many times. Next time I go there, I'll make sure to get a haircut and make a video to show our audience.
Ooo what part of Alaska are ya from? I'm from the Anchorage/Eagle River area for 39 years before I moved lower 48 a few years ago. And yes, the cost of everything in AK is literally insane.
I’m trying to do that, but the violence that Ecuador right now, scared my husband a little. But hopefully it will be better for the summer. God willing, I’m visiting during the summer.

Thanks for watching! Send us a note with specific questions and we’re happy to help where we can: info@abecuador.com Most of the crime you’re seeing in the international headlines is concentrated in the port cities on the coast. Prudence and understanding your own risk tolerances is key. We live in a very rural area of southern Ecuador far from most of the cities in the international headlines. I pretty much feed them only raw meat. Very occasionally, we will mix some of the meat with Rice. But most of the time, it's just pure raw meat and bones diet. Occasionally, we'll feed them eggs or yogurt. And they do enjoy eating avocados as well. They will also dig through the compost and find stuff in there that they like to chew on like coconuts and other things. I notice that they also sometimes will eat grass in the yard. 😂
How come you are not vegan anymore? After being vegetarian for 30 years I switched to vegan diet a few years ago, I can't imagine ever going back to meat... or fish
I was vegan for a decade and vegetarian for even longer. While I still maintain a predominantly plant-based diet, incorporating animal foods has brought noticeable improvements. Physically, I feel more stable and stronger, evident in significant gains at the gym. This shift highlighted areas where my vegan diet may have lacked essential nutrients. Moreover, I now experience less stress around food choices and can accept offers without constant dietary concerns. Reintroducing meat was initially peculiar, but I quickly adapted. Despite enjoying meat, fish, eggs, and their products occasionally, I remain primarily focused on plant-based eating.
What the local people call winter here is the rainy season from October to May. The temperature stays mostly comfortable, and it never gets very cold. The weather is actually pretty nice during the winter months. 👌
