Nice review! I've had a Trans Black CR250 for a little over a year now. I picked it up on the recommendation of a friend and have had zero regrets. The only mod I've done to it was to replace the stock pickups for a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickup kit. I can see myself playing this guitar for years to come with the same grin it gives me now.

I'm a big Cort guitar guy love the squire affinity I had a 2001 made in the Cort factory. goings to get another online for 25$ used on Craigslist some great guitars come from cort

Nice reviews! I have the CR 200GT which I dig. Had compared it with Epi Special at guitar stone. Absolutely love the Alnico 22 on these. Might still get a Cort over an Epi due to their value overall!

Yeah you can't beat Cort for the value - I usually find I can't trust the electronics in Epi, but that could just be coincidence! Thanks for commenting

@@LTGuitarist yeah,, you did mention that if it was an Epi, you'd eventually switch electronics. Didn't get that yet. Need more experience with Epi to understand. But either way keep playing and enjoying the guitar! :)

I own a cheery sunburst cr250. A long time ago I used a Gibson Les Paul and various other professional guitars, I'm a musician for fun, I have played at some bars and cafés, nothing with a big big crowd. I have to say that this guitar plays and sounds like priced at various thousands of dollars. Last time I played in public, the other guitarist had an epiphone Les Paul and a Marshall atv80 (I believe it's 80watt) and me, my cort cr250 and my peavey envoy 110 (red stripe 40watt) just destroyed the other guy sound. The advantage of the cort, is that they manufacture everything in home, while other brands have to lend responsibility to other companies and that inflates the price while not necessarily improving the quality or sound.

Hey mate, thanks for your comment! Always happy to talk setup. So for this video, (it was a whiiile ago), but I believe that the guitar is plugged directly into the POD UX2, which is running the POD Farm software which has all the amps and FX. These days I use an HD POD Pro for live stuff and Native Instruments Guitar Rig for stuff studio stuff. I actually do weekly livestreams, producing music in Cubase (Mondays, 6-8pm UK time), and often use guitars there. So if you have further questions or want to learn about composition, mixing, etc, that might be the place to go! All the best :)

Yeah, so I don't remember for certain, but what probably happened was the POD Farm was routed into Cubase on one track while my voice mic was on another track, (probably through a separate audio interface) then Cubase was outputting through my speakers. A bit fiddly XD

Haha, no problem! What the video doesn't cover, is that I'm using a Canon T3i camera; any audio processing or musical creations happen in Cubase; I use Sony Vegas to edit; and any screen capture is through an Elgato HD60 card. I'll probably do a comprehensive "How I Make Videos" video in the near future, either on this channel or on Stabbed Panda Music.

Yongjian Wang try adjusting the pickups' pole pieces first before replacing the pickups.you may realize that a pickup swap is unnecessary.

Cort are still one of the best brands out there as far as I'm concerned, reliable build quality for very a affordable price. The CR-250 is still in production but you might want to consider the slightly newer CR-300.

Is this one better than any LP by Epiphone? Cause I tried this CR250 in TBK and the LP100 by Epiphone, and I always ask myself the same question everyday I wake up, “Is Cort better than Epiphone or is the CR250 better than the Standard Plustop Pro?” I always ask that. So then I bought the CR250, but is this one better than the regular Standard, Custom Pro and the Standard Plustop Pro?

Good question! I really like the Cort CR range and played Epiphone for a while as well. In general, with Epi guitars you'll probably be let down by the electronics at some point - pot crackle, dodgy pickup connections. I've not found that with Cort. I think you've made a decent decision!

Can you remove the cover plates of the Classic Rocker 2 pickups that comes stock with the CR250? Cause they seem different than other pickups, theyhave some sort of gel filling and i dont know how to remove the cover plates, I want to remove mine but i dont want to risk it, any advice?

Really depends on your budget. If you can stretch to the 300 then do that, if not the 250 will be fine. Good luck to you!

Was wondering on shape and thickness of the neck. How does it compare to epi (thick) or modern fender Tele (normal c shape)?

Hey mate - don't have specific deets, I'm sure they're on Cort's website. But, from what I remember, it's a bit chunkier that a normal Epi or Gib LP, but not as much as a Tele. Maybe closer to the Tele? Sorry for being vague, don't really have access to this guitar anymore!

Hi Mohab, The Custom is certainly nicer than the CR-250, moreso than the price difference implies. If you were to chose one of these then I'd certainly go for the 250 though, it's still fantastic value for money. Are you an absolute beginner or can you play a bit already? If you're a complete beginner then I have a video on my channel about buying your first guitar which you should check out. Otherwise, I'd go for the 250, unless you're happy to make the investment of buying the Custom. Hope that helps!

Not massively - bit lighter than standard Epi/Gib Les Pauls I guess? Heavier than most Super Strats?

Luster Zenig pickups are nice and bright on clean, but clear and crunchy on high gain. Can defo handle metal

Hard to tell with the binding, and can't find info to be certain. However, the pattern appears quite vivid, (it's pretty tasty-looking), so I'd guess it's quite deep.

Metallix I'm afraid I've not played any Harley Benton guitars, so I can't really compare the brands! I do like Cort though, yet to be disappointed by the brand.

@@karansawan Well at the time I went in a completely different direction and bought an Epiphone Explorer. But recently wanted to add a singlecut and after way too much thinking and reading I decided to get a Harley Benton SC-DLX GOTOH and I am really happy with that decision. Good luck!

Not quite, but an interesting comparison. Epiphone were bought by Gibson a while back to make more affordable, official Gibson models, similar to Squire with Fender. Before Gibson acquired them, the Cort folks were doing all the manufacturing for Epiphone.

An Epiphone lp100? The thing with epiphone is they skimp on the electronics so you'll want to swap them out eventually. Save time and money, go for the cr250

Dude you are sooo wrong about so many things in this video, been playing Cort and Epi's for the last twenty years, cort over that. Your comments on Epi's electrics was dumb never had an issue with the last ten I've owned. Just sayin it just sounds like opinion of taste.

Ok, so you can't say an opinion is dumb, thats not how opinions work, so bad start. There's ways to disagree and pursue a discourse without being rude. 3/10, must try harder. As for your the electronics on your Epis, thats great and you must take excellent care of your guitars. However, that doesn't reflect my experience with the brand or the experience of musicians I've met over the years. In the jam clubs I used to play at, when I had my Epi with me, literally the first thing people would ask is "how long have the electronics lasted". Again, thats my experience and the experience of others I know - it wouldn't be relevant to this review if was just my opinion.

Tony Folch Not really fussed with the aesthetics tbh, but I do disagree. Also, Cort electronics don't crap-out immediately as I've found Epiphones too.

Yes, I used an Epiphone LP as my main guitar for a good few years and assumed the various pot and pickup issues were normal. It's only now that I work on a variety of guitars (including a few Epiphones), that I realise it's mostly an Epiphone problem. Not even an entry-level guitar problem - The electronics on Yamahas for example, as well as the cheaper Cort models, tend to be pretty reliable. Don't get me wrong, Epiphone are great if you don't mind replacing the electronics, but for the same money and much less work you could get a better Cort.

Just buy an Epiphone, now 2019 models come with American Gibson Electronics, DC Pros come with Nu-Bone nuts, why waste money for just a Les Paul copy when you can buy an original Les Paul in the same amount of money. Come on Liam, we all know you just do this because you endorse this Korean brand. They do not pay you while they get tons of dollars and you stay poor, come on don’t do this stupid deal and be realistic, the electronics may crap but they get fixed! While Les Paul Copies are uglies and that can’t be fixed!

Er... ok... well we all know you endorse Epiphone because of your name and display picture. So what? I used to play Epi a lot but always had to swap out the electronics because that's where they skimp. I don't have to do that with Cort. I endorse them because they're my favourites and if that stops being the case I'll stop endorsing them.

Liam Taylor Did I told you to endorse Epiphone? NO! And I am not an Official Epiphone, and it’s impossible to endorse Epiphone cause they don’t need help, but just think about this! It’s not a real Les Paul! And yeah, Epiphone has some stupid and ugly designs too and they had also copied brands! Like Fender! But in the Les Paul case too! Gibson copied Bigsby! But Les Paul wanted that and named it the Les Paul, just think about it. You should be payed, you are like their marionette, talk to them!
