On the Yamaha FJR 1300 from 2003-2005 was Gen 1, 2006-2012 was Gen 2, 2013-2015 was Gen 3 and 2016-2023 is Gen 4. I have a 2010 Gen 2 FJR 1300 and I love it. Keeper for sure.......🏍

Even without being on a "budget" I'm thinking of trading in my $23000 Africa Twin and going with one of these for a while
@PhagitzSpreadAIDS
@PhagitzSpreadAIDS 2 месяца назад
That's interesting because I was thinking about buying an African twin. I hear these do have good suspension but there's no way they have an off-road capability of the Africa twin which for some of the commuting I'm doing I definitely need.

They are generally good for 250,00 miles with very little known problems I have a 2005 and 2008 . The 2008 is slightly longer and higher geared .. Valves check once and forget about it for 100,000 miles . Yes they are heavy but thats not problem above walking pace . Im only 5 7" short arms and legs but it works for me . Ive done 17 hour days in Australia and really could not complain of being sore afterwards , you just have to know how to do distance . The Police In Australia have used them for years and they run them for 60,000 miles , according to police that ride them very little goes wrong .

@@jetstream454 Just rewatched it. A bit of both. As I highly doubt the suspension has received the love it deserves as to take proper care you need to throw away the manual as at that distance travelled the suspension oils should’ve been replaced at least 3 times and by now have full components (springs etc) replaced at least one.

That is an 04' model, with front turn signals integrated into the fairing. The 03' had stalks for the front turn signals and were not sold into the U.S. market. I have an 04' model and have owned it for a little over 10 years. 40,000 trouble free miles on the ODO and many multi-state tours. Excellent bike!

If you compare a FJR with a Honda, please compare it to the ST1300. That ST is from the same era. If you want to compare it to a ST1100, a few facts (and I know both Honda an Yamaha): yes the FJR has more power, yet how important is that for a tourer? The engine on the Yamaha is very, very sweet. In my mind absolutely nicer than the Honda V4 (ST 1100). However... the centre of gravity on the ST 1100 lies very low. And as such the ST rides (in my experience) easier than the Yamaha. It is also a more 'lazy' bike. To me the Yamaha is more sport and the Honda is much more tourer. Quality wise I find them very similar and both very good. My advice: buy both 🙂.

I was looking at a Used FJR and ST1300. The FJR is sportier and quicker but the ST1300 has more lower end and comfortable.Both have plenty of power. I went with the ST1300 because the weight makes it more stable on freeway. I know the FJR is lighter but I dont feel it. I had a hard time finding a low mileage FJR at the price I was looking for, A 2007 ST fell into my lap for 5K with 24K. The FJR looks good without bags the ST looks like crap. But I just keep them on.

Took forks of bike & gave them to a local bike shop to change😳, as I didn't have the correct tool to remove the old seals. Unfortunaterly, I can't enjoy most sport tourers because I have to occassionally stretch my legs out while I ride (arthritis). And the fairings on most sport tourers won't accommodate adding some forward foot pegs to make that happen.
