Great varied selection for the mass market. 🙌🏻 for Light Seers and Modern Witch. Fountain tarot is on my list mostly for the Moon card which looks amazing. As a beginner-ish I’ve waited to purchase this one and then there’s always something shinier that pips it to the basket. Like Tarot of Shide that’s currently under £20 on Amazon 😁

I had all of these except the fountain and deviant moon. Been hesitating over the fountain tarot for a long while now but been so drawn to it at the same time. This video confirmed that it definitely has a place in my collection. Also in addition to the decks you mentioned I found the Tarot of the Divine to be incredibly affordable and an absolute stunner of a deck, I know you have talked about this in other videos of yours, that’s one of my all time favourites ⭐️
Hi Lisa. Love you videos. Just picked up Affirmators Tarot at BAM after watching. I love the card stock and how the images feel like a gentle hug. Definitely is underrated.
The Fountain Tarot is one of my daughters favorite decks and she gives great readings with it. I go back and forth on Light Seers all the time... Sometimes I see the cards and love it and sometimes it turns me right off. Some day I'm going to just have to buy it, work with it and see.
I second the Light Seer's, it was my 2nd deck, my first "real" one, it's very beginners friendly. :) Extra yey for Deviant Moon which is a favorite! ♥ (just wish it wouldn't be so slippery) I still can't seem to connect to the Fountain Tarot tbh which was sitting on my wishlist for quite a while but than decided not to go for it. I love certain cards and dislike an equal amount which is interesting. (Just talking to myself here lol)
Great picks....I also rehomed my indie Light Seers! I was always reaching for the mass market version so I wouldn’t “mess up” my indie version and then I was like “....why am I even hanging on to this.” Plus it’s a deck I mostly use to read for other people rather than for myself so I like having a copy that can knock around in a bag. I also feel the same way about the Fountain, to me it doesn’t read “cold,” it reads clear and neutral. In fact I feel like the Fountain and the Darkness of Light have very similar voices despite their almost opposite aesthetics and they’re both workhorse decks for me. And totally agree about giving the Deviant Moon a chance even if the artwork is off-putting! I’d never hang any of that art on my wall but that deck is the brutally honest friend you go to when you need a swift kick in the rear 😆
Good morning! I enjoyed this. I love the affirmators and the lightseers, the Deviant Moon deck just does not flow with my current place in life, though I bought it, tried, put it away, tried again, put it away, tried AGAIN and then finally have it in a definitely need to rehome pile (which is large and which I don't know what to do with). I keep thinking about the Fountain, but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe someday I can trade for it. And actually l so hope you do another deck knockout video (or several lol). I so loved the first one
See, this is my concern about the Deviant Moon. It looks like my aesthetic, I *think* I would like it, but I don't want to buy it and then find it doesn't work for me and gave to get rid of it again. If only there was a sort of tarot library service, where you could borrow decks for a set period of time to see if they worked for you 😂

The book for Deviant Moon is massive. I had to get it. Love that it has early sketches of each card and the artists reasoning for why he designed each card the way he did. The book is expensive, but worth it for me. Love my Fountain Tarot so much. Love all my decks, but the Fountain Tarot is gorgeous
I have the first 3 decks you showed. I had the Deviant Moon before I started watching your channel but I ended up getting the Modern Witch and the Affirmators tarot after watching your channel. I had said I wasn't going to get the Modern Witch because I didn't really like the fact that it was all women and the more moderness of it but it is now actually one of my absolute favorite decks. I feel like I don't need the Lightseer's because of the Modern Witch and I just can't get into the Fountain Tarot. I've tried really hard to like it but the artwork just doesn't click with me. Can't wait to see what else you have in store. Definitely would love to see your ideas on oracle decks.
Oh wow, I already have two of these, and I wish I had Affirmators Tarot, I think their oracles are great. Weird to think of The Fountain as affordable though, I think I had to wait for it to go on sale for me to be willing to purchase. Absolutely worth it though, it was actually my second deck but it's what truly got me stuck into Tarot if that makes sense. Also, even though I don't have any interest in Deviant Moon, every time someone talks highly of it... I kind of wish I was willing to give it a try. Certainly don't have anything like it!
This series is going to be dangerous for my wallet! lol. But I love it. ♥ I own both the deviant moon borderless and the light seer's. DM I bought on a recommendation and LS because hay house was having such a good sale over the holidays... and they have both become favorites. Hard agree with you that they are great first decks for beginners and easy to work with.
Modern Witch is under $15 US on Amazon right now. FYI. I've avoided getting it because it's got such young characters, I'm way older than the oldest person in the deck. But I love that it's got so much other diversity. I also like it better as a RWS clone than my actual RWS, because... it's modern. Think I'll take the plunge. 8-)
As well as brand new decks you can also purchase 2nd hand copies cheaply at half the price and sometimes less....just something worth mentioning. Also another cheap way to go is tarot phone apps... that deck you were on about abit ago... the world spirit one I think... I got the Spanish version brand new on amazon for £5 ...dont know what that is in dollars ... sometimes you can find some good bargains!
I don't think it is; Bookdepository for instance have it for €22,70 at the moment. There is also a borderless edition listed as unavailable, but they are the same thing - stuff gets listed double sometimes. Having said that, I prefer my trimmed regular edition ;)
Please do a deep dive of the deviant moon, because everyone I watch says the exact same, but it doesn’t call to me, like I don’t get the appeal. My first deck is the modern witch but I have not for the life of me been to connect. 2nd I bought the wood tarot (I think it’s the name) and I have t touched it, it was an impulse buy, but I did read part of the guide book like a story. I was in love with the sasoraibito (spell check) lol but idk now. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE certain cards from the light seers like the 8 of swords and I’m just like ugh 🤦🏻♀️ what do I do, I don’t even know how to read them fluently. Any advice?
The Deviant Moon tarot book is nice, but it doesn't give more about card meanings / interpretations than what is already in the LWB. What it does have is stuff about how the cards were created, sketches of earlier versions etc. Absolutely not necessary or even useful for reading with it; interesting from an artistic point of view, not so much tarot-y.

Deviant Moon is my fave tarot deck to this day. I was surprised so many people did not like it when I found out, which says more about me lol. I use it for everything. But I need a borderless version.
Also the shipping for independet decks can get to painfull heights😭, while you can get a lot of mass market decks 4 barely any or even no shipping cost👍
Great idea for a series! Love all of these, though I only have 3. Fountain Tarot is one of my ride or die decks, especially for more spiritual readings. The production quality is so good. I find the art very emotive rather than literal, if that makes sense. It’s not as detailed as say the Modern Witch, but I get the feeling of each card and archetype from the image. The deviant moon I just can’t decide on! I like the minors a lot more than the majors, which is part of my problem.
I just listened to an old interview with the trio that did fountain tarot along with this and lemme say it's growing on me... I agree about it being expressive and watery. Also great video idea!
You must have lucked out with the Light Seer's mm version. When it first came out mm, the cardstock was awful and so many people had to request a replacement, which HH did honor. I was one of those folks. I still don't like the cardstock on my version, but at least I have the indie one (not with the original 10 of swords unfortunately), though that cardstock is too thick for my liking. I still LOVE the artwork and how it reads. You are so correct about not wanting to touch or mess up indie decks. Thanks for this vid!
Nooooo I wanted the Kickstarter deck 🤣 but I got 2 Light Seers because I wanted an extra in case something happened to the current one. I also painted the edges green similar to the kickstarter one
I have a request Lisa Papez. Could you you show us the decks you have or don't have that replaces the King, Queen, knights and pages with other titles. I love the Witches wisdom and Gentle tarot names.

There a lots of underated mass market decks - all of these included. I also think many of the standard tuck box Lo Scarabeo decks can offer great value. I have a stack of them and very few have left my collection over the years. There's something for everyone there. Thx for the vid!! 💚
I bought the Affirmators as an affordable playful deck because of you, and I do like it! I got Lightseers on a Hayhouse sale for like 17$ with shipping, and was accidently sent some extra copies which I've been able to share with friends. For friends, I edged in a blue-green that matches the box (and I do think that was the best match), but for myself I went with a dark, hot pink. I wonder if you could put together some mass market tarot-oracle pairings? Pairings that look good together and are *both* inexpensive (not necessarily mass market, but I'd say under $35 --for example, I often see the Earthbound oracle on Etsy for only 25$ including shipping). A "knock-out" series also sounds fun.
Lisa, If I have a card deck I’ve purchased would you guys be able to match up a good fabric to make a bag for the deck? For example, I purchased the Whispering Spirits Tarot Deck today from the creator on her Etsy. The bags I have are not the greatest. I’d like to start matching my decks with bags. They look great and are easy to store. 💜💚💜

Have you seen the colouring book!?!? I'm doing a flip-through and sample coloring page in it this week on the channel - but if you're using that deck for study the colouring book/workbook is SO worthwhile!
Should The Fountain Tarot ever come out without any gilding, I will buy it. I never buy gilded decks as I can't stand the glitter that keeps coming off. The Affirmator's Tarot is tempting. Thanks for the video!
I love this video, and your deck choices are great. I had to giggle at The Fountain Tarot. I did not like the deck at all, but after awhile it was the one deck I was constantly running across, be it online or in physical stores. I still didn't like it, so kept passing it by. One day I was in a bookstore and kept being drawn to one of the shelves. Right to the only copy of The Fountain Tarot that they had. I walked away a few times, focusing on other decks, but kept being pulled back to it. It was a physical pull - it was like someone was grabbing me by the shoulder and pulling me to the deck. I finally gave in and picked it up, and the energy was so strong that I decided to buy it. I'm so glad I did. After I finished going through the deck once I got it home, I was totally in love with it. I have to say you have me re-thinking The Light Seer's Tarot. I liked the deck, but as with most times I buy Hay House decks the copy I purchased was damaged, so I returned it. I'd say 8 out of 10 times they are damaged from those horrid plastic bands they use. I've had this with other publishers as well, but Hay House decks have been the worst for me. Anyhow, I do like the art, moreso after watching this video, so I may take a chance on another copy.

My soul deck is actually the Cosmic Slumber tarot, also by Liminal 11 - so it is affordable and should be mentionned among beginner friendly decks. I also looove my Affirmators tarot, such a ray of sunshine!
I'm loving your content since finding your channel! I'm not a mass market type, but I have had my eye on the Modern Witch and I think I'm going to take the dive. I do agree that more mass market decks are reflective of what the consume is seeking and more and more often their quality is commendable, if not fantastic for the cost!
I've been going back and forth on the Deviant Moon for a while. I like it, but I don't know if I love it. I doubt I'd use it if I bought it, since I already own and love the Tarot of the Haunted House and the Tarot of Vampyres. None of the other decks are my thing, but I appreciate you taking the time to recommend affordable decks for tarot beginners anyway. :)
